Re: You Can't Use PS4's Controller to Play PS5 Games

sabaki08

@lacerz No one had that expectation then, but today, when all the tech is pretty much on the same page and interconnected, you can't tell me that. The reason it was a thing in the past was because of tech limitations. Figuring how to make such thing work today is basic stuff.

Re: GTA's Legendary Radio Host Lazlow Jones Has Left Rockstar

sabaki08

I never cared about any of the other departures. Lazlow going away? That's big. This is the guy that gave the tone to all the games R* put out in the past 20 years, which is like, all of them? It was his writing, his direction, everything. I sure hope he put the right people at the helm in his stead, but I for one am positive there will be a drop in quality at least on the GTA front in what regards the cynical world-building elements, you know, what makes GTA great. Huge loss.

I'm thankful for everything he's done, though and I'm sorry to hear it's on such heart-breaking terms that he has to leave, the personal problems he's having with his family and all. Hope he finds peace of mind.

Re: You Can't Use PS4's Controller to Play PS5 Games

sabaki08

What about PS4 games that are re-released on PS5? Like the Overcooked edition that comes with both games and all DLC? Will I not be able to play that with the DS4, but be able to play those games with the DS4 if I buy them for the PS4 separately?

This is a mess.

Recall how they started out the generation making fun of MS with how easy it is to share games between friends on PlayStation? Where is that simplicity here? Their FAQ page on games and peripherals compatibility will be a joke.

Re: Talking Point: Did Ubisoft Forward Meet Your Expectations?

sabaki08

A solid B. I was very very down on Valhalla after seeing the footage that leaked. People kept saying one should not judge a game by leaks, but it turned out the purpose of that video was to cut footage and insert it into the presentation so it was indeed the real deal.

BUT...

The walkthrough they did with the commentary and all convinced me that although in essence it's similar to the past two games, there're plenty new things, main one being how grounded the combat is right now. I'm back on board and looking forward to playing it.

Despite the leaks it was still enjoyable to watch. I give it a B, because half of the event was me trying to log in to their platform to get the goodies while their servers collapsed. That was not fun.

Re: Yes, the PS5 Can Be Placed On Its Side

sabaki08

I wonder if you need a stand for that, too, though. Why else would they show it resting horizontally on a stand still then and not just resting on a surface with the stand?

Can't tell exactly from the renders, but the console doesn't appear to be flat on neither of the sides.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Panicking Over Backwards Compatibility

sabaki08

Are we still debating this? Jesus. It has already been clarified. At launch only 100 or so PS4 games will benefit of the power of the PS5, but the thousands of games available via BC at launch, won't. You'll need to install those on a normal external HDD. It's the exact same story as for the XSX.

Re: Of Course Assassin's Creed Valhalla Brings Back the Worst Part of the Series

sabaki08

After what they pulled with the canon in Odyssey, they can't just leave it like that.

The day they ditch present-day sections is the day that game will not be called Assassin's Creed. Well said, @keihtg. I'd rather them improve it until they get it right, instead of giving that up. Either way, it's always been, unfortunately, way too little of it in the past recent games, so why are people complaining?

I really hope they are confident enough to put canon stuff back into the main game and don't ditch it under the rug like they did with Fate of Atlantis, which was phenomenal.

Re: PS5 Backwards Compatibility Will Support 'Almost' All PS4 Games

sabaki08

But there was this bit where you could play PS4 games off of an external HDD. Is that for all PS4 games? Does this 100 games at launch limitation apply only if you want to play them on the PS5's SSD?

As always, Microsoft pushes accessibility, while Sony is stubborn to make sacrifices in order to break new ground and further optimize their hardware.

Re: Naughty Dog Underfire for Intense Crunch Culture Once More

sabaki08

There are a lot of people outside this industry sharing empty impressions left and right. You can't just generalize it. You don't know what's actually going on over there. If true hope there's fresh pressure on management to tone things down. It worked for when it happened with Rockstar.

It all amounts how passionate some employees are. In most cases no one forces them to stay. And the rest feel compelled to follow suit. When you work depends on other colleagues it creates this chain and you simply can't go ''yeah, well I worked my hours for today".

There are many employees who've got no one to go back home for. So they fill the void with work. There're so many shades to this whole thing. Nothing's black or white. You can't just talk about a group of people and treat them as a whole. There are individual situations with each of them. And not just in the games industry, but everywhere.

Re: PlayStation Player Celebration Rewards Free PS4 Themes and Avatars for Playing Games

sabaki08

@Ralizah Microsoft actually does a lot of it with Game Pass Quests and its Microsoft Rewards system should you use Edge and Bing everywhere.

I made the transition two days ago and there's virtually no difference between Edge and Chrome. Installed every single extension I had and you can easily port passwords and what not to Edge. Bing isn't bat either, especially when you passively make points off of it.

Of course, it takes a lot to earn the points, but if you forget about it you'll rack up a lot passively. You can use them for sweepstakes, gift cards, Game Pass subs or charities.

Re: 2K Silicon Valley Now Named 31st Union, Working on a New IP

sabaki08

@RBMango I feel you.

And yeah, that's standard PR machine talking.

I'm really worried about next gen. With Godfall and today, Outriders... Shouldn't be judging next gen only be these two games, but I really want to see some gameplay innovation. And maybe there is. We'll see on Thursday what the real shtick is with Outriders when they show gameplay.

Re: Game of the Decade: Grand Theft Auto V Set the Precedent for Persistent Online Worlds

sabaki08

Word. It's the most memorable thing of the decade for me. Most mechanics are obsolete and outdated by now, but I still enjoy being in that world. Hopping back online is always like going out for a walk in the park to relax. And it adds so much more to the experience when you are aware of all the references the environment and radio stations make to other things. Can't have enough of the gags on radio.

Re: Remedy Satisfied with Control's Sales Despite the Lack Chart Topping Success

sabaki08

Don't know if I'm the minority or not, but throwing my two cents in:

This game was advertised as a massive RTX tech demo — it looked fantastic in all the videos Nvidia put out. I also watched DF's tech analysis on it. I have no desire to play it on non-RTX hardware. When I get to play it, I want to have all of that available, hence the reason I skipped on it.

Re: Death Stranding Launch Trailer Is Here, and It's an Absolute Must See

sabaki08

@get2sammyb There are tons of mechanics as we've seen, but I'm not sure if there's enough context for them throughout the game. Embargo lifts in two days and I can't wait to see what everyone has to say about it and prove me wrong.

All I can compare this game to right now, though, is Red Dead Online's Stew Bowl challenge.

Re: PS5's Price Considering Market Penetration and Acceptability

sabaki08

I reckon they will launch with two models. They'll have an incredibly powerful line-up of fresh announced next-gen exclusive games from their most popular IPs, then they'll drop the bomb: "You want all these? You can get this base PS5 model, which has minimum RTX capability, OR, the real next-gen deal, a proper enhanced PS5 console, which is $150-$200 more." The latter not to be confused with the mid-gen incremental update. Pretty grim, I know. But I sense it.
