• Comparing a 2020 console to specs that came out almost a decade or so ago is not a good example at all and is just a strawman argument. You're comparing old specs of yester-year to the old specs of something TODAY. Those old specs at one point in time didn't release outdated, the PS5 did.

• You're still missing my point entirely; the survey has absolutely nothing to do with this. What people are choosing to stay with has nothing to do with the other specs themselves existing. Someone sticking to a GPU from late 2010's does not mean PC just stopped advancing. Like I said, a contemporary average pc that's not even a high end, just simply a mid gen, will outperform the base and pro.

• Not true at all. PC isn't centralized and locked like console is. Theres a multitude of hardware and brands, and several other software and even storefronts. A bad built or outdated PC, or a poor storefront, doesn't speak for all.

• Its much more valuable than being ripped off for an overclocked, outdated console. The pro is a rip off. The reason you won't find a PC that cheap to compete vs a console is because the PS5 Pro specs are outdated man. whats worth $700 to a PC is much less than what its worth for a console. If the Pro was targeting just the mid-range level of PCs - which is the AVERAGE, it would be much more expensive.

@ChikaBambus The base PS5, just like some PC users that don't upgrade, are both on outdated tech. The base PS5 released outdated just like the PS4 did; when you reach for strawmans by bringing up the percentage of users that aren't upgrading vs the actual PC specs out there, it just makes your argument baseless and invalid. The PS4 still has a sizeable userbase, but what does the percentage of users have to do with specs? A mid-gen PC, in other words, the average modern pc today, is more powerful than the ps5 pro. a console will NEVER be more powerful than a contemporary PC, its not happening. I know pushsquarians love to believe their console is capable of being a PC or competing but its not, the purpose of a console is literally to compromise for affordability and conveniency.

also, the fact that you're lauding console finally getting 60fps in 2026 is very laughable. Theres a huge difference between 60 vs 120fps which is the new standard, 60fps is just overstaying its welcome.

@Flora2122 granted there’s plenty of 8 and below games i like; i was just speaking in a general sense, all video game reviews are subjective and should be taken with a grain of salt, even for games that are rated 10/10

Xbox for what it was, was great and outshined $ony at one point by making the greatest console ever made , Xbox360. I’m tired of thinking about what could have been with them, so now i take solace with PC as the successor to Xbox these days. $ony can get as arrogant as they want, fanboys don’t seem to care, and as long as PC is around their worsening imminent arrogance won’t affect me too much. Good luck to the “die hard” one platform owners though, because it’s dark days ahead

@LikelySatan it used to be cool at one point though. In midnight club 2 (the greatest street arcade racer ever btw), it was structured like CTR in a sense that you race bosses and unlock new cars/bikes & locations after beating them in their areas.

@Northern_munkey PS3 had infamous, Twisted Metal, Killzone, GoW3 (at the time), Solid Ratchet games with one of them being the best in the series to a lot of people, PS All Stars, Resistance; etc even Playstation Home at the time was great

Ps3 had more appealing games for my tastes, yeah it sold the least, but sales do not mean quality. PS3 felt more connected to playstations roots than PS5 ever has

also, it’s ironic how people are ok with wasting money on the exorbitant PS5 pro which is pound-for-pound much less value than launch PS3. it’s borderline scamming

@Scottyy when there was a such thing as a “big three” there was a reason to own all 3 consoles, but pushquarians rather $ony coast on dominance & anti-consumerism with sequels and remasters of games that previous generations created, instead expecting new IPs.

xbox is done-zo in terms of ever being a strong competitor to ps ever again. miss me with this PR talk damage control, the brand as i knew and loved is long gone. Xbox360 was absolute peak gaming and they squandered it all

@Scribedby I believe they still would have had it easy due to their hardware, UI software and UX, trophies (marginally), superior online experience, and being the preferred or lead platform for the best performance for third party. All of Nintendos attempts at a traditional home console lost to Sony since Playstation's inception against the N64. Xbox i believe is the only one in real danger and M$ already knows which is why they've been pivoting Xbox to be a huge ecosystem across devices while merging into PC.

Sony has the home console market on lock, Nintendo has always excelled at handheld consoles since the first gameboy so its no shocker they own the handheld gaming/console market, but Xbox pretty much has no place.

edit - i forgot about the nintendo wii (my fav nintendo console ironically! lol!); it beat out the PS3, but come on, are we really gonna not chalk that up to the hype it garnered within the first 2 years before it rapidly fizzled out and became relegated to retirement homes and soccer mom machines. the support was awful for it and the longevity of the console aged horrendously.

@Scribedby PC is the future. also playstation will always be around for the mere fact that it’s the lead home console platform for third parties, the switch is not a home console, it’s a handheld. nintendo solidified there place in the handheld market, sony dominates the home console market

Playstation is shaping up to be just a third party machine for f2p live service, at that point why even game on console

@Krlozgod i know, i remember $ony started charging for their online too while subsequently devaluing PS plus after forcing it on us, and then raising the price of it over time.

I only mentioned nintendo this time because they’re the recent ones to start doing it & nintendo of all three have some nerve charging for their archaic and piss poor online infrastructure & software. it’s a rip-off with $ony and M$ doing it, and it’s audacious that nintendos done it now. Xbox did it first , sony followed suit, and now all three are in on the scam because consumers don’t care.

@SMJ im very sorry to hear that; i somewhat know the pain. i’ve recently got my original fat ps5s motherboard repaired , because once i realized i had no external SSD or cloud saves, i refused to dispose it and get a new one. I’m sorry you’ve lost your progress, hopefully you can grind your unlockables and progress back - time heals all!

@RedRiot193 pushsquarians love their interactive movies. if a game doesn’t have heavy cutscenes, walking simulators, and exposition over gameplay then it’s not a good “game” . the more a game aims to be a video game with much more button pressing instead of watching, then the less appealing it is 😂

that sounds awfully a lot like PC. Consoles are overpriced imo, & the online subscription model even for backing up data is ridiculous. The value in console these days are the exclusives and a lot are simply “timed” these days…
