In a $70 Era, PS5 Fighter Avatar Legends Is Just $29.99 1

Highly anticipated PS5 fighting game Avatar Legends – which has received warm acclaim from genre pros – will cost just $29.99 when it launches on 2nd July. That’s a surprising price point in this era of ever-increasing expenses.

To be fair, the title does have a $49.99 Deluxe Edition which bundles in a bunch of extras, but you don’t necessarily need that version to enjoy the experience as it is.

Here are your options:

Standard Edition ($29.99)

  • 12 Characters
  • Story Mode
  • Arcade Mode
  • Training Mode
  • Combo Trials
  • Character Lessons
  • Gallery Mode
  • Online: Ranked, Casual, and Lobbies

Deluxe Edition ($49.99)

  • Standard Edition Content
  • Music Soundtrack
  • Digital Art Book
  • Unique HUDs
  • Year 1 Pass: Five characters and additional character colours

Pre-Order Bonus

  • Support Character Skin: Samurai Appa
  • Exclusive Character Colours
  • Voting Privilege for Year 1 Pass Character

It’s worth noting that the previously announced PS4 version appears to have been cancelled, as there’s no mention of that in any of the press materials.

The tie-in’s being developed by a team named the Gameplay Group, and founder Victor Lugo had the following to say in a press release:

“For us, this is about delivering a fighting game that feels right in the hands of players from day one. Avatar is a perfect fit for the genre—movement, mastery and expression are at its core. We’ve built a system focused on responsiveness, depth, and competitive play.”

And here’s the official overview, which gives you an idea of what to expect:

“Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fighter rooted in the spirit of elemental mastery. Designed for both newcomers and veterans, it channels the energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression.

Built with a focus on fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity, the game invites players to discover what it truly means to fight with purpose. Hand-drawn in 2D, it is crafted to preserve the style and expressive animation of the original series.

Featuring hand-drawn 2D animation true to the series’ roots, proprietary best in class rollback netcode, and full cross-play for smooth, competitive gameplay.”

As we mentioned at the top of this article, feedback for the gameplay in this has been very positive, so we’d expect it to find a fairly big audience at this price point.
