PS5 Pro Buyers Rush to Beat $899.99 Price Hike Next Week 1

What a truly bizarre month it’s been for the PS5 Pro.

Sony’s supercharged system attracted critical acclaim at the start of March for the introduction of its new PSSR 2 upscaler, an upgraded model which fixes all of the problems with its predecessor.

But it’s ending the month with confirmation of an outrageous $150 price hike, meaning by 2nd April the console will cost you an unthinkable $899.99.

While sales are expected to slow to a crawl in April and beyond, it looks like fans are taking advantage of this last ditch opportunity to buy a console before it’s too late.

While it’s completely anecdotal and undoubtedly influenced by our own personal algorithm, we’ve seen dozens and dozens of posts on X (or Twitter) this weekend of PlayStation fans taking the plunge on the PS5 Pro before it’s too late.

Many of those buyers are saying much the same thing: it’s now or never before the price hike.

Here are just a few examples:

We’ve seen a similar story on Reddit, where fans are sharing deals and offers with each other, as many scramble to get the console before it becomes more expensive.

Realistically, we wouldn’t expect this to have a massive influence on Sony’s sales – we’re talking anecdotal evidence here, and likely some of the most engaged players in PlayStation’s ecosystem.

But there’s no doubt the platform holder’s going to see a bump to its sales before 2nd April arrives. Things will obviously normalise once the price hike comes into effect.

To be fair, there’s never been a better time to buy the PS5 Pro; as we mentioned above, PSSR 2 has been attracting rave reviews, and the console will unquestionably be the best place to play GTA 6 later this year.
