Amid Xbox Exclusives Uncertainty, RPG Fable Recommits to PS5

I really hope this is good. I want another high quality and big budget fantasy RPG to play. I miss games like Dragon Age.

Probably too far into PS5 development to be cancelled, same with Halo, Gears and Forza. Maybe after these have released they will go back to exclusives.

I hope this game doesn't take itself too seriously.

Gonna bite into this chick shaped cracker with glee.

Easily my most anticipated coming to PS5 this year (Hopefully). Just not feeling the GTA hype whatsoever (yet)

Honestly if there was a game they could have quietly canceled for PS5, it was this one. Since the whole series has been an exclusive.

Would have been good PR to their ecosystem as well. As a lot of xbox fans didn’t like the “this is an xbox”/play anywhere marketing.

They can go back to exclusives all they want, but once they don’t hit their marks for sales then sequels don’t get green lit, then studios close. In this day and age, the industry is solely based on money. Playstation and Nintendo can do exclusives because they have the player count and hardcore fans to hit the sales mark. Xbox does not

This is one of the games this year I'm cautiously looking forward to. Fable 1 & 2 were some of my favorite games when they released, and I think Xbox really needs a big hit in this genre.

Just toss a few breadcrumbs to the poor beggars...

Platform exclusivity has felt pointless since the PS4 and Xbox One, as both systems are basically identical in terms of technology. So why not make games, like other forms of media, platform-agnostic and be done with it?

That on the basis that these game don't sell gangbusters on Playstation. Forcing Xbox hands to continue selling on Playstation...

That why people want Xbox to cancel these game mid development. They don't want Microsoft to see the sale potential. ignorance is bliss

Nobody wants this game

Fable is the last Xbox game I played by myself. Every subsequent play of Xbox resulted from me either playing a fighting game with someone else. Or playing Kinect with my son when he was 5. That 5-year-old is going to the Navy in 2 months. Let’s just saw I’m not really an Xbox guy lol.

@AverageGamer So far most of the singleplayer games they have put on PlayStation had had meager sales at best. Launching on PlayStation day-one didn't do wonders for Doom: The Dark Ages, The Outer Worlds 2, Gears: Reloaded, or Ninja Gaiden 4, now did it? I think the industry has shown, time and time again, that just because you put a AAA game on a platform with a large install base, that doesn't guarantee it's gonna sell well (or even best) on said platform.

I will admit that Fable could sell really well on PS5, but that heavily depends on if it's a great game or not. If it's good but not 10/10, then I don't see it doing crazy numbers on PlayStation.

If Playground nails Fable they will be a top 3 studio in the industry without question.

There is no point for Microsoft to not release ps5 games this gen, the Xbox is so done that nothing will save it for the remaiming of this generation. They will gate keep it starting the next one, if they are smart enough.

Despite the lovechild of Abby and Aloy above I'm looking forward to this.

Of course they are still going multi platform there is to much money to make.
They did extremely with FH5, which sold more than GOY on PS5 and Astro Bot, 2 Sony studio games.

Also in April 26 worldwide sales for the first time ever the series consoles went below 100k sold 98k.
Helix will be niche at maybe 10 million sold when it ends.

So multi platform is the so the right direction for Xbox studios.

All those games(plus you can add a bunch more like Avowed, Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones, south of midnight, keeper, kiln etc.) sold poorly on every format. That's probably the more important issue to deal with, before cutting off 30-60% of the sales of games that are already seeing a poor return. Almost every MS published game performs poor by the standards that a company like Sony would be held to. Saros's sales are considered poor but they are better than the majority of MS published games.

Personally think this will remain for all Xbox games moving forward, until something is actually adressed over exclusives.

Evidence may lead us astray by pointing to a wrong conclusion, and yet still be evidence. There simply might be counter evidence. So are ratings evidence or not of an imminent release?

Any game that's already underway for PS5, it would be silly to pull the release (that said, Starfield was due on both platforms simultaneously).

As for the NextBox? Well, if M$ have any brain cells left, they'll be exclusives to Project Helix.

@Questionable_Duck I'm curious about this as I don't know the numbers, but were those "meagre" sales higher than what they sold on their own platform?

I still fail to see how Microsoft would allow Xbox to go exclusive again, especially with such high profit margins that were demanded in the past under old leadership. It just doesn't make any sense, as it's obvious that Xbox will need every dime they can get as a result of the ABK acquisition.
