Capcom has shared much more information on Title Update 4 — the major Monster Hunter Wilds patch that's dropping on the 16th December.
As previously promised, the update will feature potentially significant performance improvements across all platforms. The developer's provided an outline on how this stuff's going to work, and it sounds rather promising.
Basically, as you may already know, Wilds is a very CPU-intensive title, and that's where a lot of the game's performance issues stem from. Title Update 4 boasts both CPU and GPU optimisations which should help solve many of the game's ongoing frame rate, hitching, and rendering issues.

Capcom has implemented performance-boosting patches before, but this is the first time that it's decided to go in-depth on the improvements, and so expectations have been (rightfully) raised.
Additional optimisations will be made in February of next year, but by then, the hope will be that Wilds is a much more stable experience overall.
Of course, as the trailer at the top of this article shows, Title Update 4 is also packing plenty of new content. A big ol' brawl with returning beast Gogmazios is on the cards, allowing up to eight hunters to team up for the first time (and that includes NPCs).
There's a new endgame weapon upgrade system as well, alongside welcome weapons buffs. You can take a peek at the full patch notes through this link to the official Monster Hunter website.

As usual, it pays to wait these days.
@captainsandman Absolutely. Patient gaming for the win!
Picked this up for $20 on clearance at Target, looks like I was right to wait!
I might finally jump back in.
Good news, but this is almost a year after launch.

I'm hoping around the release of the AT Arkveld is when they'll announce the next expansion
Optimisations originally made for an upcoming Switch 2 version, which will be announced at TGA 2025?
I'm not a MH fan but it's actually disrespectful they've waited this long for such a significant performance patch. Fans have been crying out for it for months.
I never liked MH (though i might give Stories a try) so i won't be getting this game, but I'm glad they're actually solving performance issues in this game, and hopefully, the whole game engine. It's clear now that RE Engine doesn't work really well with open world games, since this is not the first time that we have a game like this running like crap
"Basically, as you may already know, Wilds is a very CPU-intensive title"
I suspect it's what makes my PS5 coil whine after some hours of play. I play ALL other games for lengths and it stays silent.
Yeah, this should be in good shape by the time the expansion drops!
This is one of those games I cancelled my preorder cause it was clearly filled with issues on both PS5 and PC, and now it's way too late for me to regain interest in it.
@Max_the_German Doubt the Switch 2 could run it.
I'll have to hop back into the game after the update drops to see how performance fairs.
I hope this improves the blurriness as well. It’s the o my reason I haven’t purchased it after playing the demo and reading that that it still runs like crap and is a blurry mess.
@SteveJaye Which blurriness...don't listen to the Internet too much, along with "not optimized" are buzzwords the Internet has overblown and run along with when it comes to this game. One of the best looking games this year.
I hope the smudge textures will be gone. I won't hold my breath until i test it though.
I’ve learned my lesson this gen never to buy a game to play day of release. If I buy early to support the dev, I still wait until it’s fully patched to play it
@TheArt I’ve played the demo. It’s blurry in performance mode and doesn’t have a steady 60fps. Looks like it’s running at 720p upscaled.
@SteveJaye Unfortunately I don't think that will change. Your best choice is to use Balanced mode with the 40fps option. It's not much but it's something and makes the game look less blurry.
@Nepp67 oooh. I’m good with a 40fps option as I have a 144hz tv! I’m pretty sure that wasn’t available in the demo. 40fps with the last of us was amazing.
