When Yakuza 0 Director's Cut releases on the 8th December for PS5, the original Yakuza 0 — the PS4 game — will no longer be available to purchase digitally.
This delisting has now been confirmed by SEGA, so if you want to play Yakuza 0 in its initial form at some point in the future — and you're not planning on grabbing a physical copy — then you'll need to purchase it before "08:29am PST on December 8th".
If you do happen to own Yakuza 0 on PS4 — or buy it before the deadline — then you'll be able to upgrade to Director's Cut for a discounted $14.99 / £11.99 / €14.99.

Okay, but why would you want to play the original Yakuza 0 over the Director's Cut?
Well, the thing is, Director's Cut introduces several new (previously scrapped) cutscenes that expand on certain story beats. However, some fans feel as though at least a few of these scenes are wholly unnecessary — and actually go as far as to cheapen parts of the existing plot.
As such, there's an argument to be made that Director's Cut detracts from the title's original vision — and that Yakuza 0 is still best enjoyed without any of the additional bits and pieces.
Anyway, it's your choice — we're just letting you know, because we still think Yakuza 0 is one of the absolute best instalments in RGG Studio's stellar series.
