Really Sony? Really. This has Suicide Squad level crash and burn written all over it and as far as I know Concord, even the name is an omen, doesn't even have a campaign that slightly redeemed SS.
I am surprised there is not more discourse on here about the lack of a physical edition. Plus the fact that the equivalent PC edition is ten pounds cheaper than the PS5 version. With BG3 and Alan Wake 2 being purely digital Sony are quietly turning up the water incrementally on us frogs. Incidentally, I have no problem with digital only but I think somewhere between £35 to £40 is a more realistic price point so I will be waiting for a sale on BG3. In the meantime I realise that I have Divinity 1 & 2 [physically] in my backlog so am currently playing them instead!
What I find galling is not the price per se but the fact that the US save $20 bucks over the UK price and $35 over the Australian. If it was the same price in the UK as the US I would happily pay it. As is though it feels like other territories are subsidising a price cut in the states.
Can anybody tell me if the 'areas' get less narrow. I was enjoying the combat, although their GOW past is a bit on the nose, however the arenas seem very contrived in comparison to Destiny's wide open vista's. Even when outside it all seemed a bit artificially fenced off. Might jump in after a price drop.
100 hours with no crashes. Last two days 3 crashes both after forcing opening chests during a raid in three different monasteries. Oh and Jorvik is now intermittently afflicted with screen judder and tear. Still great game.
I'd be shocked if we see Elder Scrolls and Starfield in the next 3 to 5 years anyway by which time either an Xbox + game-pass will be cheap OR Sony will have sold so many consoles it would be commercially stupid to not release on them. Although if Halo Infinite is any good I'll buckle and buy one anyhow.
Is slightly irritating how some Xbox commentators [such as Ryan McCaffery] are gloating and trying to reignite fanboy flame wars. He forgets a killer app is only a killer app when it actually exists!
What is so funny about this is that Spencer and Xbox fan boys are already talking up Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 as the must have killer apps. The fact that neither will be out for 2,3 or 4 years during which time we will have GOW, Horizon, potentially a new LOU or more Uncharted and many other delights.
On the bright side. If we do have to buy an Xbox when Elder Scrolls 6 is released so much time will have elapsed it will probably have had a price cut.
Perhaps someone who has played can answer this. Are there any wide open environments? By which I mean something similar to Earth in Destiny 1. Al the footage I have seen seems to be set in canyons or valleys which look very claustrophobic and not particularly wide. Any wide open vistas?
As my avatar might suggest this is a day one purchase for me. I bought this in 2003 off of the back of Edge giving it a 9 and was completely enchanted and completely confused! However, having played every Disgaea since I am now well versed in the franchise and cannot wait to bring that knowledge back to the original.
I had EA Access on Xbox and really enjoyed it. Inexpensive way to play a load of games. I'm guessing it would have come to PS4 but they felt it would detract from Playstation Now which had recently launched. Can't see how single game subscriptions would work though. I wouldn't be interested in that.
I think that Microsoft would happily kill Xbox tmorrow if they could. I would happily see us end the graphics race now where we are. I wonder though what Shannon would say if Uncharted & Bloodborne (for example) were exclusive to Xbox. Or if Xbox hadn't destroyed their brand by having no bloody idea about what gamer's want. I cannot help thinking this is sour grapes at the Tomb Raider Exclusive backlash as well as the rather lackluster showing of Dead Rising 3 & 4.
Got the platinum and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Although the 7 or so hours I spent getting my town from 85% satisfaction to 100% was a bugger.
Freedom of speech cuts both ways. Jon Tron is free to express his views HOWEVER Playtonic are similarly justified to disagree with his views and in disagreeing refuse to have him associated with their product.
Wasn't in the market for a new console. Will give the Pro a while to bed in just in case they start burning down people houses or develop other issues. So as a person only in the market for games I found Black Friday/Cyber Monday pretty underwhelming.
I'm going to stop buying bloody Indie games as every time I do lo and behold eight months later they turn up on PS +. That being said my backlog is starting to get immense so need to stop buying games full stop.
I enjoyed it. Bought a hard copy. Got the platinum and traded it in for half what I paid for it. Nothing earth shattering but then I didn't expect it to be. Think the sheer amount of hysterical hyperbole about the game is somewhat overblown. Molyneux never got savaged like this and he has committed far worse hype crimes.
Staying up till silly O'clock is all part of the fun. Although as I'm in the UK this one is at a reasonable hour which is a shame as I intend to stay up late playing the Dead Rising Remasters. A 3 or 4 am press conference would have been a bonus.
Have played it for about 40 to 50 hours this week and it has only crashed once on me. I sort of like it whilst hating it at the same time. 18 Quintilian planets that all are built from the same toolkit of about 20 items. Or the buildings spawned on the side of steep mountains that float in midair totally breaking the immersion. Or the hours it takes to scour a planet for that last bloody species. I guess if truth be told I'm just in it for the platinum about now.
I really think that Sony need to swallow their pride and allow EA to bring EA Access to the PS4. It is absolutely brilliant and as many of the games have a strong online presence (Fifa, Battlefied) people would still need to keep a PS+ subscription.
It'll be full price. But then when nobody buys it at full price the price will drop and come January/February it'll be about 20 quid and I'll get a copy.
First one was awesome. Really looking forward to it.
Sadly Dead Rising 4 is going to be the same story.
I was surprised they didn't show it at E3 as well. I think they should basically release it as a GOTY edition for PS4. However I bet they whack it out full price. Then when it hits £15 on Amazon I'll buy it.
Played it for 250 hours on Xbox and almost bagged the full 1000 gamerscore only missing out due to Gwent cards and losing the final horse race, not realising and not having a save to back to that pre-dated the loss!. Had such a great time that I traded it in and now have the PS4 copy just waiting for my Easter break when I fully intend to platinum that bad boy and play the DLC. I cannot wait!!
It really bugs me when people knock the collectathon gameplay loop that Ubisoft games champion. I love it. I would never have dreamed of collecting all the treasures say older Tomb Raider games or the packages in GTA III. Sure if I ran across something then I'd get it. Then they started putting the collectibles on the map. Genius. Now there is no reason not to collect them. In fact throw in trophies and I'll happily spend hours scouring a vaguely marked out location for pretty much anything until the map is properly swept. I blame Crackdown. Those orbs were like crack......
VR will end up like motion control. It'll be pricey and offer up shallow experiences that simply cannot compete with normal games. You want to spend x hundreds of pounds and £50 a game to spend an admittedly fun hour or two on an experience that you can't even share with those in the same room as you and that you're bored of after a day or two. People didn't buy Rez when it was sub £20 so why are they going to pay £200+ to play it now?
Plus how is the new gaming media even going to cover this stuff? Let's plays are hardly going to show this stuff off to the best of it's ability which will hurt sales.
Then there is the issue of little BIlly forking out x hundreds of pounds and then 2 hours later pitching back up at the game store demanding a refund because he keeps puking up. Gamestop/Game are going to love that.
Lack of sales (look how quickly 3rd parties abandoned Move, Kinect or the WiiU) mean no games and VR dead in the water by 2020 except perhaps for a few dedicated/rich PC users.
Are we really to believe that the future of gaming is paying £350 to play Battlezone until you puke. Really?
They also said that ESO was 60% off on PSN. I checked the UK store both during the show (about 4am) and just now and the game is still £54.99. That's an expensive bloody scratchcard.
The highlight of the Terms & Conditions has to be this clause:
"If a winner is from Canada he or she, as a condition of winning/redeeming a prize, must correctly answer a skill test question." How gutted would you be if they call you up and you don't know the answer.
@themcnoisy I agree absolutely. As you point out we all hold out whilst they offer it to us for £30, then £25 etc etc until they reach a sensible price point. I guess it is the same "model" as free to play games. They list Mad Max for £30 and although the take up is lower than at £20 the better margin makes more money.
I bought a physical copy in a shop last week for the same price £30. Then when I finish it I will be able to trade it in for £18 (I just checked their I want to sell app) again in a physical shop. As the aforementioned store is 10 minutes from my house I do not even benefit from the supposed convenience of shopping digitally as the download would take longer than for me to walk there and back plus I get some exercise and I save, in the long term, £18. Of course this conversation as regards digital pricing is the same one we have had over and over again. Will online prices ever become realistic?
This is a clear attempt to thwart the trade in market as well save a few bucks in production.
So I buy a pre-owned copy of Destiny:TTK or Inqusition:GOTY and lo and behold I end up with ONLY the main game as the codes have already been used. It will be interesting to see if the trade in prices reflect this. My guess is they won't initially but after people returning to stores too kick off the retailers will have to at least warn people when they buy pre-owned copies of these games. Any who works in Game or Gamestop care to comment? Oh and if you do choose to comment and you do work in the aforementioned stores can I just say; "I'm fine. I don't need the Season Pass." HOWEVER many times you ask.*
Thank goodness. That would have been horrific. Their support of The Witcher with all the little DLC's etc has been amazing. EA would have stopped all that.
