Update 2: Assassin's Creed Valhalla patch 1.020 is available to download now on both PS5 and PS4. Thankfully, it's only a very small download. Hopefully the Ostara Festival is finally working as intended!
Update: Ubisoft has confirmed that the next patch for Assassin's Creed Valhalla will deploy on Friday the 26th March. As predicted, the update aims to fix the crashing issues that were introduced with the Ostara Festival. It should also restore both settlement decoration and festival functionality. Phew.
We'll update this article again once the patch is live.
Original Story: A new update for Assassin's Creed Valhalla should be dropping soon on PlayStation 5 and PS4. The incoming patch has been spotted on Sony's servers by PlayStation Game Size, suggesting that its release is imminent.
So what's it for? Well, last week, the freshly added Ostara Festival managed to cause widespread crashing issues. Ubisoft quickly took action, removing the settlement decoration system as well as various festival activities. This supposedly stopped the crashing, but players were left with a broken festival and no way to customise their settlement.
As such, we can only assume that this update is going to fix the initial problem, and restore both decoration and festival functionality. Hopefully it works, because if it doesn't, we fear that even the most committed Valhalla players are going to start losing their patience with the game's post-launch support.
In any case, we'll be sure to post about the patch once it's available to download.

The xbox one version seems to work fine but I'm only 10 hours in.
I've never had any of these problems playing on PS5. I've actually never had a single glitch or anything while playing on PS5 for the past 3 months
I have no hope that this will fix the bad audio quality (maaaaaybe the disappearing hoofsteps will come back, as they went away with the last patch) or the botched HDR.
What a mess this game has been. I'm actually sad for most of the devs that worked on it, as the art is flawless, the story is fun and a lot of things are really good. But it is marred by core technical issues that go well beyond "simple" bugs...
100 hours with no crashes. Last two days 3 crashes both after forcing opening chests during a raid in three different monasteries. Oh and Jorvik is now intermittently afflicted with screen judder and tear. Still great game.
Does the Raving Viking know he's in this game?
I was so skeptical with this game because of reading articles and comments in the past few months. Then i decided to jump into it and have a look what is the game like. Now my counter is around 70 hours and honestly this is an amazing game i was fool to skip it for a long time. Playing on on PS5 and i haven't experienced a single crash at all. There are some small glitches but they are rather funny than annoying.
@Tatarimokke It's not like the game crashed a lot for everybody or something but a large number of people encountered something that halted their progress at some point. One of those might not sound like a lot in a 100+ hour game but if it prevents you from completing it, it's pretty bad.
I've been locked out of the platinum trophy for over 2 months now, because of a single bug.
Otherwise, I thought the game was good. I had some complaints but that's spoiler territory so I won't go into details. Definitely still enjoyed it though.
@eltomo technoviking? Where is he?
@Voltan Thanks ok i see. I'm not too far in the game with the main quest line just wondering around and doing raids and collecting wealth. probably that's why i haven't experienced anything. Will see then hope they fix those problems soon. Take care everyone and enjoy your gaming!
Yes, decorations and festives are vital for this game, so they MUST be repaired immediately...
Am I the only one, who think developers forgot what is important and what is not? And if all those cosmetics and seasons disappear from games, no one would care?
I'm on PS5 and only problem I have encountered is that my horse makes complete silent footsteps. I know it's only minor but when travelling around its very annoying coz it takes away the realism off this great game. I won't play until its fixed so I'm hoping this patch sorts it out.
Does this fix the horse sounds missing bug?
@Digit2021 @Britmatt81 Nope, didn't fix the horse sounds, which is rather annoying.
This. Game. Sucks.
I'm not even going to waste my time downloading it on PS5 to play a little.
Yay my village has nice new sculptures and decorations, plus I spent some time finding easter egg baskets. The festive was noisy with dancing and music, thus my trusty viking warrior needed some timeout and quiet time. How? Simple she just jumped on her horse and visited the countryside, utter silence was stricken upon her. She couldn't even hear her horse making a sound. Total tranquility.
Ubisoft - have you lost your bug fix priority board in the office (is it missing a checkpoint marker similar to the latest fire pit quest?) Fix decorations etc but nothing major like horse sounds?
