Re: Sony Testing PSVR2 Compatibility on PC, Aiming for This Year

captainsandman

People complaining in the thread for no good reason. It's great that Sony is offering compatibility for a peripheral across platforms. They should have done this at launch. Sure, there are other products available that are more current, but if you already have one, it's a great entry into the hobby. Plus you don't have to buy multiple headsets and contribute to e-waste.

Re: Despite Circling Wolves, CD Projekt Red Not Interested in Being Acquired

captainsandman

@LifeGirl Not luck. It was a great idea from a well regarded studio that got rushed out too early. It sold well, but then got pulled from storefronts because of technical issues. Most games where the developer "fixed it later" had no hype in the first place or had no cache built up in their studio. Many of us held out because we believed that CD Project would make good. They did, and we ate it up.

Re: Sony Says PS Portal Wasn't Designed to Make a Profit

Some people in here have no clue how bad Bluetooth latency is... especially when you are streaming to another device. That is why most headsets have a USB dongle. Normal Bluetooth really doesn't cut it for gaming. Buy a set of wired headphones or spring for the earbuds from Sony that include a USB dongle to reduce latency. If they opened the door to all Bluetooth headphones then they would get nonstop complaints about audio not fully syncing up properly with the gameplay.

Re: PS5 Slim's Digital Edition Gets a Stealth Price Increase in USA

captainsandman

Chalk this up to inflation. This is the first time in my memory where there is a price increase mid-gen when a slimmer system is released. I think they would have increased it further but they did tricky stuff like charging extra for a stand and a disk drive to make the base cost as cheap as they possibly could. I don't know what their margin is on the system, but typically they are sold at a break even cost or even at a loss to the manufacturer.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (PS5) - Excellent Expansion Is Cyberpunk's Blood and Wine

captainsandman

@StylesT But you can leave a comment to let us all know. You should give it a go if you still own it. I have held off until update 2.0. I am finishing up Forbidden West first and then firing it up. They f----- up the launch but I am willing to give games another go after the dev team has put heavy work into them. No Mans Sky is one of my favorite games and I only figured that out because I decided to give it a chance after the bad press.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS5 Patch 4.02 Improves Performance, Fixes Bugs

captainsandman

@Max_the_German For a game of that size, they could probably bug fix for eternity. There will never be a game that is bug free and doesn't need updates. The dev teams just has to get it to a place where the bugs aren't noticeable and game breaking. The Witcher 3 is a finished product. It is just in perpetual polish mode until the dev team decides that it is not worth the continued support.

Re: The Response to Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has Been Abysmal

What if the game actually ends up being fun though? Isn't that the end goal for a game? Something people enjoy playing. I know it's a departure from past games, but sometimes that ends up being a good thing. I love Destiny 2 and I can't imagine it being any better or worse if they took the live service features out. It is just a genuinely enjoyable game that I can come back to on a periodic basis.

Re: PS5's Pricey DualSense Edge Pad Has Shorter Battery Life

captainsandman

@Americansamurai1 I agree. They would probably have to redesign it to fit a larger battery. They kept the same footprint as the duel sense controller. I wish they made a fat version of each controller with added battery life. I just have two I swap out every other play session. This new controller is to expensive to keep 2 on hand.

Re: Hardcore PlayStation Fans Seem Dead Against a Horizon Zero Dawn Remake or Remaster

captainsandman

I replayed HZD on PS5 recently (after the 60fps patch) and I found it smooth to play, still beautiful, and barely dated. It holds its own against other similar open world games like AC: Valhalla. If they do an upgrade, it should be free and not take away significant resources from the future. We are in a gaming drought this gen and this just further digs the hole (not to mention Covid setting games back dev time for almost 2 years).

Re: Bungie No Longer Removing Destiny 2 Expansions People Paid For

captainsandman

I call BS on this as well. I am 100% excited for a new era though. I lost step with Destiny 2 and the idea of catching back up again with the leveling and weaponry gave me a headache. If the next iteration could pump out content at an even pace, then it would be easier to stay locked in from expansion to expansion.

Re: PS5 Stock Issues Could Last Into 2024 as Chip Shortages Continue

captainsandman

@ShogunRok he is speculating on the industry at large, but you can read between the lines that this is his way of saying that Intel will have shortages until at least 2024.
AMD has a more positive spin on the matter (both PS5/Xbox heavily rely on them).
"This was contrary to comments from AMD CEO Lisa Su, who at the time had said she expected the second half of 2022 to see supply increase."
I do partially agree with Intel's CEO, but I also think he is running some damage control for his company.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.13 Available Now, Adds Three New Cars and Track Layout

captainsandman

I am boarding the boat of people clamoring for an offline version as well. My internet was being worked on sporadically through the weekend and it kept booting me from races. My other qualm is that you have to go through multiple different menus to tune/purchase an item. It should be easier to jump from tuning/parts purchasing/painting/etc. It's just unnecessarily complicated. Besides that, I am loving the hell out of this game.

Re: PS Plus, PS Now Merged Service Revealed, Goes Live in June

captainsandman

@mariomaster96 It's actually just $20 more a year for access to those games. It does suck if that's all you play. Personally, I would never play or stream them, so I am happy for the $20 savings. That was one of the major roadblocks for why I never signed up for PS Now. I didn't want to pay the cost of streaming and for a library of old old games. Now the middle tier is focused on games that I would actually play (most of the market would fall into this basket). The premium tier is for diehards who need their nostalgia fix (Sony knows that these folks will typically pay out for that fix).

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Patch 1.08 Is Out Now, Here Are the Patch Notes

captainsandman

@tofuman86 you realize that all games had bugs before the era of updates and patches right? If anything, it is a good thing that issues can be fixed post launch. Modern open world games are massive. Because of this, there will never be a completely bug free game. Post launch patches and support is a sign of a good developer. As long as the game is not shipped completely broken (PS4 version of Cyberpunk), I see this all as a positive for gamers.
