PS Plus Essential Games for April 2024 Announced

Meh... Would be nice if they started to give us helldivers 2 currency each month.

Jesus, worst month in a while

I knew Immortals would get there eventually, but I hope this provides the game a much needed audience. The game is surprisingly very good, and it deserves more attention.

I have heard great things about Immortals of Aveum and this Minecraft game, but there is just too much to play and too little time

Won't lie, I wanted to play immortals but couldn't part with the money due to reviews/too many other good games. It's a perfect service game for me to try something I really wanted to try for free..
Not too sure on the other two, but I'll take a look!

A fruitful lineup in general but, between one game beyond my hardware library and two available on Switch, not of much use to me. Chances are I'll just briefly toss Skul on board for the points.

I think the less people speculate the better when it comes to these monthly games. All it serves to do is give folks unrealistic expectations and make the actual lineups look 10 times worse. Another average at best month. Sony should really read the room a bit better.

Bad month. My subscription expires on Thursday next week, I don't even care about adding those games to my library before it does.

Seen immortals going for £8 a few times on the series X. Glad I decided against it.

Not interested, but that's OK too much to play as it is. Maybe more stuff in extra or premium.

Immortals was a bit hard done by in my opinion I enjoyed my time with it and it looks stunning in some places.

Immortals is good fun. I never finished it but I'll return to it at some point.

It seems like Immortals of Aveum got on PS Plus before being released

Had never heard of Skul but skimming a couple reviews it looks kinda Dead Cells ish so I might get some play out of that

I'm probably most excited for Skul: The Hero Slayer.

Had my eye on Skul previously, and would be keen to give it a try, eventually.

My patience with Immortals paid off lol. That, Plague Tale Requiem, and Evil West were all in my wishlist but I didn't pull the trigger. Worked out.

And just after i bullied my mate in to getting a PS5 last week stating the free games are usually good. Glad he managed to nab Sifu and F1 23 and these games wasnt his first month.

Not the best month I’ve seen but I still don’t care if you’re cancelling your subscription, nobody does.

Nice, I was thinking of picking up Immortals of Aveum at some point. The other two, not bothered by, but will add to my library all the same.

Still debating whether to get extra or premium for the year. Hopefully there's another sale on the subs soon.

If you have a ps4 can you still claim ps5 games on ps plus and then play them after you get ps5

I would never have bought immortals and was actually waiting for it to hit plus because to me it seems like the perfect game for it and Skul looks like a good 2d side scroller for old school and indie fans so I'll check that out as well. I have zero interest in anything Minecraft though.

@Chaudy Yes, you can claim PS5 versions without having a PS5. It's been a while, but if I recall correctly, you can't claim PS5 copies from a PS4, so you have to either use the mobile app or login through a web browser. I did this for Bugsnax a few years ago and was able to play it on PS5 once I got mine.

Was interested and knew exactly why I held out.

Nice. I know reviews were meh but want ti give Immortals a look.

Hoped Immortals would be added to the service, so that is good enough for me. No care for the other two though.

I actually bought Immortals quite recently. Thought it was very underwhelming and cliché. The writing is terrible and the gameplay is basic and repetitive. Not to mention the dodgy performance and image quality.

Immortals was destined for this service before it was even launched. Hence why myself and likely many others judging by the comments never bought it. Sucks the studio suffered due to that, but that's the industry we've been trained to work with.

The nicest thing I could say is that I was never planning to spent a single cent on any of these, free was the only way I was going to ever play them so thanks PlayStation... I guess 🤷

Down to try Immortals. Now Dead Island 2 on extra please Sony.

Wonder if they’ll ever put out some PS:VR 1 games again. Surely be a good way to get people using the newer tech by giving away some of the older games.

Immortal is way better then some reviews make it out to be, af least it's a fresh setting and genuine title. Also the shooting feels good. I didn't regret buying it some time ago.
Looking forward to Skul. Decent month I'd say.

Skul is a seriously great game, 93% positive on Steam with 40k+ reviews

@Americansamurai1 if you're on about the super credits, do solo trivial (or go with friends but there's no need), choose the radio tower missions. You can find anywhere from 30 to 60 super credits and the mission only takes 10 minutes. I've got over 1300 just by doing it.

I will certainly give Immortals of Aveum a try.

@NinjaNicky yeah I've done solo on trivia, don't have any friends so whenever I play multiplayer it's with randoms. Just would be a nice plus bonus since they give stuff in fortnite, fallguys and now overwatch 2 sometimes.

The ps+ essential seems to be hit and miss, there are a few good games you want at time, most of the time it's games you don't want even if they are "free".

I'll give Immortals of Aveum a try. Colin Moriarty of Last Stand Media (and formerly of IGN) speaks highly of the game and says it's better than people think.

First month in a while I won't be claiming anything. I would have considered Immortals, but with so many other games to play, I don't see myself ever getting to a game that's considered average at best. I still might claim it for the hell of it, but that would be the only game. Skul is supposed to be good, but I don't enjoy any version of a rogue game, so I'll pass on that one.

I'm not going to really cry about the bad month or anything though, as like I said, I already have plenty of other games to play. Good free games are always nice, but an off month is not a big deal in the end.

Nah. My PS Plus runs out in June and this isn't exactly encouraging me to renew it.

My PS1 recently came out of retirement and is getting more playtime that my PS5. Says it all pretty much.

I'm interested in trying out Immortals, but I don't have high expectations. Everything else is a solid 'meh'.

Another poor month, are they trying to force essential members to upgrade ?

Immortals is the sort of game I keep PS+ for - bit janky, but fun and trying something new. I wouldn’t want to buy except on a mega sale, but I’ll look forward to giving it a spin

Crap selection.

I saw these games and thought it was an absolute result. Came to the comment section to find people are, as usual, still disappointed. A years worth of PS+ essential costs £60…less than a single, brand new game. It comes with 36 games over the course of the year which you get to keep for the duration of your subscription and you get online play. They are not going to be bangers every month, they are not going to be brand new AAAs, they are not going to be GOTY contenders because YOU ARE PAYING £1.70 PER GAME!! The entitlement is genuinely madness to me but I am old enough to remember when we were paying £40+ a year just to play a console online.

There was some kind of newsworthy quote a couple months ago which was a hint that Immortals of Aveum was coming to Plus. Seems like that was about 3-4 months ago, so I guess that’s the time frame of how far in advance they make the selections and negotiate the deals.

@GeeEssEff Most people only pay for Plus for online play and now Sony are letting PC players play their 1st party games with no need for Plus.

There's a reason Plus subscribers are falling and Sony took the decision to stop reporting the numbers because of this.

Well that saves me the $20 I was willing to spend on Immortals on Black Friday at some point, so... HUZZAH!

Sony would rather pay Microsoft for a Minecraft spin-off instead of giving us knack 2...

I'll play Immortals of Aveum. Looks guilded like Godfall. Shiny w particles flying all over. But it was made by a team of people with a rad pedigree.

Nothing for me this time...my ps+ extra will end in 2 months and I'm sure I don't want to renew. Not because of bad library of games but because of lack of time as I spend most of time playing games I buy physical. I tried a lot of games of course but I don't remember when I finished something...for me extra simply not worth anymore, and tbh not even sure if I stay with essential either because I don't play online but if there will be good price I might change my mind

Immortals died of genericism, but always looked quite fun to play. Not worth a purchase, but definitely worth a download. Will probably get a dozen hours at least.

Keep bringing AAA near misses to the service. That’s what it should be all about and is much better value than indie darlings like Stray appearing for a few weeks. I’ve been looking forward to this happening ever since it flopped last summer.

Another month teasing final fantasy vii reunion as one of the upcoming free games for the list to be released and it not being on there, really regretting my move from Xbox to PlayStation and considering canceling plus as these games have been ***** for past 5 month I have had noting of interest on list

Exceptionally poor selection

I started gen as an Xbox gamer and was always jealous of ps plus selection. Started working my way through ps backlog last year and signed up for for a year of premium in September. Man seems like every month since has been a disappointment

Knew Immortals would be on PS+ eventually. I'm pretty happy about giving that one a shot.

It finally happened to me...I bought Immortals for like $20 a month or so ago lol.

It's a solid 7/10 but if you're a platinum hunter don't waste your time.
