Good - perfectly happy with PS5, STILL doesn't feel like this gen has really got going and not too sure what PS6 will really offer to make the upgrade worth it?
Maybe delaying it will also help keep the cost down which is the biggest factor many ppl (incl myself) won't be purchasing it that quickly either.
Ha that looks awesome. Nice to see smth a bit different - haven't seen this since Amiga Batman way back. But this looks far cooler naturally.
I love a good racer but found the turning in Forza 5 so unresponsive - and this maybe looks the same? Looks like they're driving and turning in treacle? Looks so HEAVY.
Adored Tearaway - platted it on both Vita and PS4. The use of the back touch panel on Vita was ingenious.
This is the type of game I'm hoping MM are now making and should have made more of. Whilst I appreciate a lot of ppl like them, UGC games aren't my jam!
@MS7000 Ha that was exactly my first thought - I platted it on both PS3 + 4 and whilst the MP section was fun, getting to that final level of awesomeness only being able to do 2 challenges a day was a joke!
Awesome game - but why this needs to be rehashed again is beyond me. Anything they do to it would be completely unnecessary.
Why not make a completely new game?! I know Ancel isn't there any more but I'm sure they could come up with something without him.
Ubisoft a company bereft of any original ideas it seems.
2 and 4 are my favourites - two sides of the same coin I can't separate them but 2 gets the slight edge because it was so revolutionary and the E3 presentation blew my eyeballs to the back of my head - made me rush out and buy a PS3. Those panoramic vistas are still a sight to behold and coming from a Wii (!) I couldn't believe games could look this good. (That Christmas for me was all about UC2, Arkham Asylum and AC2!!)
Then 4 has pirates in it which I adored. Phenomenal game.
3 is great but the storytelling wasn't as polished and a big let down with some odd moments and unexplained gaps which narked me (so where does Talbot vanish to around that corner?) but oh my the set pieces! Insane! The chateau fire, the cruise ship, the plane... gobsmacking.
You can tell they were stretched on hitting the release date for UC3 as there are some unpolished sections as well. The end cinematic (no spoilers...) is not that great... Evan Wells said he wished they hadn't announced the release date so early and after this we started seeing ND delay games which I feel UC3 needed.
Shoutout to the MP on 2+3. SO much fun have such good memories. We were all so insanely excited for the UC3 Beta - rushing home from work each day to play. Good times. And that tarmac on Highrise... ooooooh.
Amazing series, hope we get another one eventually!
Both Guacamelee games are amazing!!! Platted the first one twice (orig then Super Turbo Championship edition) and then the second one which seem to remember I found a harder challenge. Would love a third entry but assumed Drinkbox wanted to do smth different and didn't want to flog the formula to death!
Like others on here waiting for a sale before picking this up - amazed it hasn't been discounted already as almost every other MS/XB game released so far on PS has been discounted within months (GoW was half price very quickly!)... but not this one?!
In my head this is how it looked when it first released.... but obviously it didn't haha. Loved Black Flag so will definitely be setting sail again with this resync!
Fantastic game, loved the 8 and 16-bit aesthetics.
Really fun plat to go after; the trophy where you have to do the level in pitch black particularly fun!
Didn't realise there was a PS5 version as well, will have to get to that one day.
I was perfectly happy with the PS3 and 4 menu systems...
They'll finally sort it out and get everything working juuust right on PS5... then PS6 comes along they'll feel the need to reinvent the wheel all over again and we'll get another variant on the XMB and we'll have to go through all this sloppy charade all over again.
@Slippship But it doesn't have to be Nathan Drake. Plenty of characters that can be used in the series like Lost Legacy using Chloe which was bloody brilliant.
Plus the rumours and thinking persists that Cassie Drake will take over the reigns should there be another game so it could be very different but in the same spirit.
Lots of noise about the possible return of Uncharted.. hoping it means something! Been long enough.
Whether a new game is through ND or another studio making it: gimme gimme gimme!!!!!
Absolutely love Uncharted. Can't ever decide between 2 + 4 being my favourites - both are so so good.
It's been long enough for them to release another one with Cassie Drake as the lead, or even a Victor Sullivan prequel. Maybe it's being done by another studio and not ND?
Plus there was that live action montage they released yonks ago and it had a very Uncharted-esque clip in it which had many ppl thinking they were teasing a new game...
I don't play GAAS in general, but this TLOU mp was the ONE game like this I was genuinely interested in and could have tempted me in, and it gets cancelled.
Dammit.
EDIT - also absolutely LOVED the Factions mp in TLoU. Great stuff.
Rumour has it that Santa Monica are handling the remakes of GoW 1-3 in house and yet they have the perfectideal studio sitting in the wings who would do an amazing job on them and SMS could work on smth you know, like NEW, and they then do this?!
And after they wasted all that time on the GoW live service pivot which probably wasn't their choice but foisted on them?!
And Media Molecule and Bend haven't released anything in ages and this happens?! I liked the concept of Dreams but it wasn't a hit and very niche and how long ago did it come out!? Days Gone was totally fine, I liked it but hardly earth shattering and dogged by issues.
Yet Bluepoint always do quality work like the Demon's Souls and SotC remakes and they're the ones getting closed!!! (and no I don't want to see MM or Bend closed either but just comparing...)
Seemingly from the outside Bluepoint weren't given a fair bite of the apple! Outrageous!!!! I'm fuming!!!!!
a: Really pleased to have Ninja Gaiden 2 released and looking forward to more titles released. Bought it immediately and a total classic.
b: I love going after trophies and no they're not the be all and end all for me enjoying a game. It's a nice bonus and often encourages me to try different things rather than spamming the same attack combos or trying different ways of playing!
Plus back in the day, way way before trophies and achievements were a thing, I enjoyed getting 100% games on NES/SNES etc. Plus I'd try to do silly but fun things like see how far through a level on Mario I could get without touching the ground - just the type of thing some trophies ask you to do!
c: Yeah the trophy lists for these games are absolutely crap and a real disappointment. Lazy. It won't stop me playing or enjoying the games, but was hoping for some fun trophy challenges. 😢😤
Loved Gris, and funnily enough picked up Neva in the sale the other day and really enjoying it so will definitely buy this DLC, especially at that price point! 😆
and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, which unlocked automatically
I never understood people automatically popping plats from PS4 -> PS5 versions. Sure there are people that just want to increase their plat count - but loading up an old save file and getting an immediate plat feels like cheating to me and missing the point of trophy hunting.
As someone who enjoys going after trophies, I like replaying and enjoying the challenge again, maybe a few years after I first played a game!
Now we've got PS1 Ridge Racer, really really hoping we get Rage Racer sometime soon. (And Revolution too although that's my least favourite of the PS games!)
This looks bleeding brilliant. Is it all on rails like those sections in Sonic games...? Or does the train come off the tracks and there's more direct control and mix and match between 2 styles? Hoping the latter!
That looks like to could be a fun plat to go after. Definitely a game I want to get at some point...
...and I'm more intrigued about the frankly ludicrous 4 different versions on sale and how much could be missed out on by not having access to all of the planes etc. Hopefully any upcoming review will deal with this.
Hate this way of selling games and FOMO bait - at obscene prices too! 😝
Shovel Knight is bloody amazing. I adored it. How and why on earth they didn't see fit to go from 8-bit to 16-bit style is the biggest mystery to me - "Super" Shovel Knight would have been an absolute banger and is a massive missed opportunity (so far...!?)
They would have had the play mechanics in place and not had to develop a game from scratch, and been able to throw loads of fun 16-bit mode 7/scaling type effects in on top - the stuff Konami and Treasure used to do back in the day on SNES and MD.
I backed Mina on KS and just checked the original release date and it's Dec 2023 so we're now 2 years overdue! No wonder they're in trouble and the game is ONLY just playable throughout?! This late?
Feel for these guys as I love what they're doing and hoping they can succeed and get this out in a state they're pleased with. But they then need to seriously think about proper scheduling and building an overflow buffer into that to make sure on their next project they don't repeat the same mistakes.
I found the parry system much much harder in Yotei. To the point of frustration actually - and I think it just wasn't as much fun as Tsushima and I actually dreaded fights which definitely isn't the norm for me.
I platted Tsushima twice (second time played through on hard) and didn't have half the problems I did on Yotei. I could perfect parry 10+ times in a row with ease on Tsushima and it felt great but the timing just never clicked on Yotei. Plus there were some sweeping enemy attacks which despite having a blue glint seemed unstoppable. I think they got the balance here very wrong and I just couldn't acclimatise to the combat and it left me disappointed in this aspect.
Having said that I still thought it was a bloody great game (platted it). So so beautiful and love a revenge story. But the parry system and combat knocked it down a few points for me.
Personally hope Sucker Punch move onto a completely new IP now. Not to detract from their quality, I feel both games are brilliant but they are very similar and I felt burnout with the game systems and everything at the end of Yotei.
The opening credit reveal isn't as good as Tsushima by a long shot (lacks the dramatic heft Tsushima had which was better paced and a good hour into the game so by then the stakes were higher and you really felt the emotional impact. As Yotei is an ersatz copy saw it coming a mile off) and it's pretty much the same game but....
...it's bloody brilliant and absolutely loving it. I also loved Tsushima so not a surprise. Playing in Japanese dub. An absolute joy to play and marvel at.
Watched it on delay and the bits I saw looked really great, glanced up at bits as I was working. But as soon as they said 'Here's the first mission' I fast forwarded. Quite why I (or anyone else for that matter) want to ruin the start of the game is beyond me. Why spoil the surprise?! Looking forward to the reviews and hoping it's good.
@Balaam_ Ha! The other week I was at a supermarket and saw a car's license plate where the last three letters were LJN (UK license plate). I scoffed out loud and everyone in the car asked me what was up - spent the next minute or so trying to explain the legacy and reputation of LJN's NES games but no one seemed to get it or why I would even care... 🤣
Looking forward to this. I loved AVGN's previous 16-bit style game - it was really good. Every reason to hope this will be the same!
I gave up watching any launch trailers (and anything much beyond the original reveal of games I like the look of) after Uncharted 3 which completely ruined loads of cool set pieces and took away much of the surprise.
The less I see of a game I'm interested in the better - why ruin it!?
@Frmknst They already kinda did that - at E3 2018, where the main showcase presentations were TLOU Pt 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding and Spiderman... the one where people had to walk from room to room. They also showed other games but not on the same scale. I seem to remember this presentation didn't get the love it deserved at the time and the reception was rather luke warm? Man what I'd give to have a proper E3 Sony showcase again...
@get2sammyb Missed off the fact Druckmann has announced ND are working on a second game as well as Intergalactic that hasn't been announced yet.
@somnambulance Couldn't agree more - I was left wondering why I was watching endless repeats of the same looking game and thinking I don't like videogames. Granted not everything will be for everyone - and there were 3/4 announcements which did interest me - but this selection needed to be far shorter and far better curated. Even the bloody RE9 reveal was prolonged lol. That would have been great in an hour long showcase - not an overly long snooze fest like it was last night. Respect people's time!
Then I remembered there was a lot in the SoP which I am looking forward to.
But that's 2 hours of my life I'm never getting back again.
@Jrs1 It's fantastic, I hope you like it. Sliding around over the landscapes popping arrows off is extremely satisfying - think Legolas from LoTR. It's up there with the traversal system of Insomniac's Spiderman games - I can give it no higher praise for that great sense of movement, flow and satisfaction.
I'd actually started the game 4.5 years ago... liked it but got distracted with other games etc and had only completed the first plateau. Finally got back to playing it a month or so ago and loved it, so much so once I beat the PS5 version I played through (and replatted) the PS4 version.
Once you power up and get new abilities it gets more and more fun. Flying up high gliding over the plateaus is stunning - my photo capture button was in overdrive. It's not perfect - it needs a map (they have this radar thing where objectives glow which is a cool idea but a bit flawed) and a couple of the boss fights are a bit janky, but everything else blew me away, especially the epic end battle!

Re: Gorgeous Journey-Like Sword of the Sea Lands on PS Plus Day One

Platted The Pathless only a few weeks ago and thought the traversal system was sublime. So fun and a wonderful game.
Incredibly excited for this!
