The latest Xbox Game Studios title making the leap to PS5 is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a highly acclaimed aviation sim landing on the console on 8th December, 2025.
Aspiring pilots may be interested to know what's expected of them with regards to Trophies, and fortunately, the list has made its way online prior to release.
Over on PSNProfiles, the full rundown of digital trinkets is available for your perusal, and it looks like a fairly manageable to-do list, albeit time-consuming.
One Trophy requires that you spend 50 cumulative hours in the air, for example, which sounds like a lot, but it's probably quite achievable if you partake in all the game's missions and activities.
To get the platinum, you'll need to complete training and earn your private pilot licence, take a whole bunch of photographs, complete 100 weekly challenges, and perform various flying feats.
These include 30 successful seaplane landings, 50 successful landings at heliports, performing touch-and-go manoeuvres, and visiting several landmarks via hot air balloon.
It's certainly going to keep you busy if you want that plat, then, but we feel like the people interested in Flight Sim are probably gonna play it enough regardless.
Are you onboard for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024? Will you be aiming to collect all the Trophies? Tell us in the comments section below.

It does appear some of these trophies could be broken but I think this will make a great relaxing game for the Christmas period so I'm going to dive in and see what happens. Not the £199 version mind.
That looks like to could be a fun plat to go after. Definitely a game I want to get at some point...
...and I'm more intrigued about the frankly ludicrous 4 different versions on sale and how much could be missed out on by not having access to all of the planes etc. Hopefully any upcoming review will deal with this.
Hate this way of selling games and FOMO bait - at obscene prices too! 😝
Highly acclaimed? Wasn't this game torn to shreds when it launched last year?
@Questionable_Duck Funny I was thinking the same thing...
@Questionable_Duck Yes and No. It released with some major bugs, especially queues for the online streaming of better textures, and other big issues which understandably reflected in many reviews.
But the game fixed most of these issues imo and is pretty highly regarded now.
@themightyant Reviews for the game on Steam are still mixed, so I didn't know about that. I guess not all of the bugs have been patched, though, since there are some people claiming that it is broken and unplayable.
The platinum for the game is unobtainable. See: https://www.trueachievements.com/a457135/overachiever-achievement which is also in the game's PSN trophy set.
There are only 18 certifications that are earnable, with 2 being promised as a future feature but never actually released.
@Questionable_Duck I can't speak to PC as I've not played it there, but I haven't had any major bugs on Xbox recently, all the major issues I had at launch have been resolved in my experience. YMMV. For what it's worth I don't play it a lot, but maybe take a flight every few weeks when I fancy it, and my biggest complaints would be:
1) how unguided you are. If you aren't a Flight sim ace it can all be overwhelming, which I was hoping would be better than the 2020 game, it is, but only just.
2) The UI is awful for new players. It feels like a PC interface with a controller.
As for the Steam reviews: A lot of negative reviews i've seen fundamentally don't like the streaming of more assets compared to 2020 version and mark it harshly for that. That is fair enough, but it is a subjective love it / hate it thing, personally i'd suggest taking that into account as it's always going to be marked down by a section of the audience for that alone. It's unavoidable.
With that taken into consideration the recent Steam reviews are 67% positive on recent reviews which isn't bad compared to the 2020 version at 78% positive (and a major improvement from 32% positive that it was in the first month!) Just my 2 cents.
Anyone know how much is included on the disc? I’m not keen on 400gb downloads.
With MS’s track record on PlayStation I’m guessing it could be 100mb 😂
@Dodoo I can't be certain of the PS5 version, and how much is on the disc specifically, but the Xbox version was "only" about 30+GB. This is because they have moved to a new cloud-based model where you need to be online to stream the higher quality assets.
The previous game (FS2020) also did this but had higher resolution base assets, but the downside was with all free expansions it was around 200GB on Xbox, 400GB on PC.
For me this makes a lot of sense, when you have the ENTIRE of planet Earth as a game world, of which you will only visit a tiny portion. According to the devs it would take around 2.5 Petabytes (2,500,000 GB) to install it all.
But some people preferred having the 200-400GB installed, and streaming less, which is understandable. Personally I think they made the smart choice, ESPECIALLY on console. ymmv
The series has been getting a little easier with each release (when it runs properly) they provide a lot of beginners lessons in the latest one but it still takes a while to learn the basics. You can always switch to auto-pilot once you get up there. I've never used a controller on the PC version, just sticks, thrusters and so forth. I'd be interested to see what if anything gets released that is compatible with PS5, and to see how it runs before I consider making the switch. With all the DLCs on PC it was about 250GBs but I never got through half of them, if I do get it I'm not even going to consider platinum. It's not the kind of game you rush, it's a simulator in the true sense of the word.
I’ve heard the achievements on Xbox are bugged as hell so I hope the platinum will be obtainable and being a completionist It would certainly f up the rotation 🙈. I’m down for some of this so🤞
@WesCopeland oh I should have read all the comments first! That’s a damn shame then
"Time to soar" is not a bad article subhead...but "Frequent flyer" surely must have come up at the editorial meeting...
@themightyant thanks for the info, much appreciated!
I’ll be picking this up either way but would prefer a bigger upfront install so we’ll see I guess.
Having said that I haven’t got any spare 2.5 petabyte drives lying around anyway 😂
I had a great time with flight sim 2020 and was ready for the flashy and mission heavy single player of 24. I couldn't even get inverted controls to work, no joke this game has the worst menu system ever. My preferences wouldn't save. Flight Sims are the reason I always play inverted and the game refused to let me. Absolute nightmare. Flew a few missions and all my passengers died on our way to Ibiza. Tried helicopter photography and that went about as well as expected with my propellors smashing alongside the white cliffs of Dover. Didn't even take a single photo as the assigned button wouldn't work. Shambles of a release.
@themcnoisy yikes. Was that on PC or Xbox?
@JJtheTexan on the Xbox.
