There have been a lot of great Jurassic Park games over the years. For this author, the original 16-bit outings live long in the memory – as well as the Theme Park-inspired tycoon title on GBA. We also love Frontier’s more modern strategy efforts as well.
But let’s be honest: we’ve all been waiting for a modern single player campaign inspired by the first film.
And Saber Interactive’s upcoming Jurassic Park Survival is exactly that – it takes place a day after the events of Steven Spielberg’s iconic movie, and puts you in the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi.

All of the locations from the film – as well as some new ones – have been meticulously recreated, and there’ll be sequences inspired by famous scenes, such as the white-knuckle kitchen set-piece which we’re sure you’re all familiar with.
The first-person game seems like it’s still early, hence it won’t be present at Gamescom and is getting this behind-the-scenes trailer instead. But at least progress is being made on the project, and it seems like the team’s ambition is in the right place.
The press release says you’ll need to “use distraction, stealth, and ingenuity to overcome intense and unforgettable encounters against some of the deadliest creatures to ever walk the earth”, so we’re expecting this to be more like Alien Isolation than your typical run-‘n’-gun.
The blurb continues:
“Players will be challenged to navigate the park’s many varied locations and dangers. Use all the resources at your disposal and find intelligent solutions to endure the wide range of threats lurking on Isla Nublar.”
Naturally, there’s no release date as this does still seem like it’s quite a way away, but it’s reassuring to know Saber Interactive appears to have settled on a game direction, and now it just needs to pull everything together.
We’re excited to play this once it eventually launches.
