Sounds fair. After all the scrutiny that Sony has deemed necessary for the Activision-Blizzard buyout despite no one batting an eyelash about their Bungie buy-out. I don’t really care at this point, the politics of game companies are generally redundant and are more like old men screaming at clouds.
Worst case scenario… Sony loses Call of Duty in 10-15 years. Big whoop. Sony still has Battlefield, Killzone, and any other multiplat FPS released. I didn’t buy a PS5 for Call of Duty, I bought it for Ratchet and Clank, Sockboy, Gran Turismo, and Monster Hunter - because Sony and Nintendo are the real homes to Monster Hunter and Microsoft is just trying to keep up.
I didn’t know this game existed. If there were one title that would prompt me to buy PSVR2 this is probably it. This looks fun. And don’t misunderstand… Gran Turismo 7 is good fun too, but it lacks the sheer chaos that could occur in this game.
I’ve sunk a lot of time into Monster Hunter. While I’m not quite ready to move on from Rise/Sunbreak this sure is tempting. I may buy it just to support the development of a sequel… sometimes devs get too complacent and a bit of competition could shake things up a bit.
That’s a survey taken out of context if I ever read one. I bought an Xbox Series X because it has exclusives I want. It also has the same multi platform games. I didn’t buy either console for the multi platform titles, I bought them for the exclusives. Also if multi platform titles were a deciding factor then more people would’ve bought Xbox because MS resolved their supply chain issues a few months earlier than Sony
That trailer has some serious Nobuo Uematsu vibes. I’d recognize the brass buildup paired with percussions anywhere. Very reminiscent of his work on FFXI.
Still looks great. This has been at the top of my list of games to look forward to for years. Everything I’ve seen so far makes it seem like the PSO sequel I’ve wanted for years.
I’m foolish enough to take the job. He needs someone experienced in damage control to reign in the company. I’m fine with him keeping the software division to himself.
I have some serious moral concerns about this. When the cells are inevitably left alone what happens to their conscious? Who told these scientists that they could breed life just to kill it?
@naruball It’s not that I don’t relate to the frustration. F2P games are too prone to random, last-minute shutdowns. It’s just some developers are especially prone to this habit - Square Enix being one of many examples. However, it isn’t fair to judge all companies equally because devs like Digital Extremes and Hi-Rez take a very fair approach to F2P.
I’m not understanding the frustration with this approach. $40 for 15 characters is the equivalent of a base edition fighter game and the latter are the equivalent of a couple seasons of DLC characters.
I’m looking forward to the actual release, but I’m content waiting. I have a lot of unlocks between Switch and PC and really don’t feel like starting over.
While disappointing, it’s not surprising. The combat was the most exciting part. I wish it was a co-op game more along the lines of Destiny and Warframe… maybe it would’ve lasted longer if that were the case.
@thefourfoldroot Take a look at Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. Gameplay is 2D, but chaotic multiplayer like Overcooked.
@BlackMayge Agreed… there are so many Beat ‘Em Ups that could’ve made the list.
Not saying their positioning is wrong on the chart, but I feel like Genshin Inpact and Borderlands 3 could use some Pros and Cons like the rest. I’ll give my two cents… Genshin doesn’t have multiplayer until leveling up a bit and Borderlands 3 has a very repetitive loot grind.
@vapidwolf I just tested this in Google Translate and it's the other way around. Translate Hideo from Japanese to Turkish. Which if you translate both Hideo and Kahraman to English they both translate to hero. Interestingly if you translate Kahraman to back to Japanese you get Hīrō.
I think it's a pretty good game and doesn't have any fundamental issues, but I feel like it's a bit of an overstatement that it shines in co-op ... I've tried the past few days to play and there's literally one game room to join and almost never something I'd want to join due to stay/difficulty differences.
I respect any actor who can legitimately say that they weren't feeling it and owning up to it. Mad props. I hope it doesn't tarnish his image in Hollywood because it shows he can learn and grow from mistakes.
I miss how the first Hitman game was episodic. Kind of wish they'd do that again. It's cool to get it all at once, but it was nice being able to experience the story over several months.
Isn't it a bit hypocritical to share info leaked from a hack then turn around and tell users not to do the same? Personally, I opened this post just to see the spoilers.
@Danloaded I'm of the same thought, but I don't have a PS4 backlog since I went Xbox last gen. I thought about picking up a PS4 a coupe years ago when Monster Hunter released, but I couldn't justify getting a console for one game knowing that the next gen was just on the horizon. Needless to say my first game will be Monster Hunter World.... Haha (Yes, it's available on PC and Xbox, but for me it's always been a Sony game at heart)
The economics of the original statement don't make sense. I have no idea how much Sony makes off of one game before retailer markup, but assume $30 profit and 5 million sold that's $150m. A PS+ subscription is $60 annual, which earns them $300m income. Double the price and toss in access to all Sony published games and you're effectively running a game rental service where all players have instant access to the games and a guaranteed $600m income assuming you have at least 5m subscribers. As much as I hate GaaS, I've had a subscription to Xbox Live just for the games and most months don't even use the service.
As far as I'm concerned the console wars are over. Sony won the console wars, which is why Microsoft is focusing so heavily on backwards compatibility, cloud services, and subscription based gaming. I haven't purchased an MS game in 2 years because of Xbox Live Ultimate, and this month I'm seriously considering ending my service for the first time since I've jumped to PS5 this gen.
As a casual player who plays with casuals, I'm okay with skill based matchmaking. I've won more matches and performed better than I otherwise would've. Sure skilled streamers like Shroud and Drdisrespect need to work harder to stay on top, but that's what they're paid to do. They can either adapt or go find another game to promote. Streamers and pros shouldn't get easy mode just because they don't want to work for their money.
Drives me crazy seeing so many conspiracy theories here that Microsoft paid for it and the likes. I suspect that PS5 is using software emulation while the Xbox Series X is using just improved hardware to implement their emulation as part of their one OS initiative. If PS5 were using hardware emulation then all games would be backwards flawlessly, which is not the case with some games displaying graphical glitches and others not compatible at all.
As someone who hasn't played CoD in a while, I'm okay with this. It takes a bit to learn all the maps, and having a light load to start gives a chance to learn the loop. Still can't stand Nuketown though.
