Re: Sony Sues Tencent Over 'Shameless' Horizon Copycat Coming to PS5

Wilforce

@T-Bone09 They’re off about .25 so 4K is practically non-existent right now, haha

I’m not saying Tencent is innocent in their efforts to plagiarize. I just don’t see the similarities. The gameplay looks nothing like Horizon. Horizon isn’t my type of game, but I’d be more inclined to play that before whatever Tencent is selling.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5) - A Timeless Formula Refined to Near Perfection

Wilforce

Seriously? I love Monstet Hunter and this is a day one buy, but by your own and reviewing criteria this is not a 9 out of 10. At most it should be a 7 by the review criteria set by your editors, maybe an 8 if you’re really pushing it. Not saying it’s a bad game or even not fun, but the deficiencies you point out… weak plot, poor optimization, low texture quality. This is a PS5 game, NPCs shouldn’t look PS2 quality.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Zenless Zone Zero?

Wilforce

I have it a 6. I thought my time with it was okay, but nothing truly breath taking. The gameplay feels disconnected between the real world, abyss (or whatever it is), and the board game movement mechanics between zones. I ended up uninstalling relatively quickly because it took too long to become enjoyable.

Re: Sony Music Japan Is Working to Make Palworld More Popular Than Ever

Wilforce

@somnambulance Personally the definition for live service is entirely different because I’ve seen games like No Man’s Sky and Sea of Thieves. I’m simply more impressed that Sony of all companies is doing this considering how close the devs are/were to Microsoft. Let alone the fact that many in Japanese media were being pressured by Nintendo to essentially pretend Pal World doesn’t exist or risk losing sponsorships and promotional deals.

Re: Rumour: SEGA Wants Persona to Be an Annual Franchise Alongside Like a Dragon, Sonic

Wilforce

I hope they don’t take this approach… the Persona games are long games with so much content to the point that they are quite literally the equivalent of a 2-season anime or more in terms of content. Making it an annual series would dramatically impact the quality of storytelling. A 2-year release cycle may be a bit more realistic, but even then I have concerns about their ability to maintain quality.

Re: Sony May Have Made the Right Call Not Copying Xbox Game Pass with PS Plus

Wilforce

@dark_knightmare2 Who said they’re losing money? They want more money. That’s a fair desire because they’re a corporation and that’s why corporations exist. If Microsoft releases 3 major titles a year, they make their money back so long as a subscriber maintains their subscription for 4 months. Granted this is a dramatic oversimplification because they gotta pay for games from 3rd party devs like Persona, Palworld, and others so those are definitely losses, but once they get someone in the door they’re more likely to stay since they forgot about the subscription entirely.

Re: Auto-Tune Auteur T-Pain Confirms Work on GTA 6, Barred from Role-Play

Wilforce

I’m so confused by this… is Rockstar trying to make the case the people would rather watch T-Pain play GTAV on an RP server than play GTA6 with T-Pain playing one of the characters? This is so backwards… as a company I’d rather T-Pain be playing since it’s effectively free advertising. At this point, Rockstar should be more concerned that someone is going to use an AI voice generator to create their own T-Pain inspired story.

Re: Diablo 4 Season 3 Set for the 23rd January

Wilforce

I’m surprised that they announced season 3 but have given zero information about it. Season 2 was announced a weeks after season 1 launched and they drip fed information about it until launch. It’s kind of disappointing how little information is available.

Re: Sony Hit with French Fine for Allegedly Manipulating PS4 Controller Market

Wilforce

Something feels really off about this. While I don’t think that “only” licensed controllers should be compatible (therefore Microsoft should be fined and is the greater threat here), how many of these compatibility issues with 3rd party controllers are simply due to inferior components? I’ve had issues with 8BitDo on my Switch and they’re fine controllers that I’ll keep using, but not flawless. How were the tests performed to identify the licensing requirements as the problem and not the controller itself?
