Lots of children will have placed the PlayStation 5 console at the top of their Christmas wish list for this year. Unfortunately, many of them will not have their wish granted due to the current PS5 stock shortage. American TV show Saturday Night Live recognises this with a comedic skit that pitches Stu as the kid writing to Santa Claus in the hopes the magical man will bring him the system this Christmas. It's well worth a watch in the video embedded above.
Stu has apparently tried to find one at both Walmart and GameStop, but since they were sold out, figured Santa could just make one for him. His mother then intervenes to explain that Stu just wants to play Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Christmas Day. Don't we all? Then someone who is most definitely Elton John intervenes before Santa responds to Stu in probably the bluntest way possible. The skit ends with Eminem getting the PS5!
What a whirlwind of a ride that was. Amazing stuff.

This is perfect.
Hope is not lost, Stores will have more stock i am sure. You need to put all the energy you can into finding one. If worst comes to worst get a 4K TV for the PS5 and then pick one up soon as you can.
@JohnKarnes this is my mentality. Ive got plenty of ps4 backlog to go through that i can always play on the ps5 when i get it. At some point there will be a huge amount of stock in
Snl needs to go back to the 90s when it was somewhat funny
This reeks of paid promotion.
Video not available in my region. Cause apparently Australia is Narnia RIGHT?
I can't tell you how many times I have had a PS5 in my cart online only to have a bot beat me to check out...
@Splat sorry to hear about your issues, i got lucky and was able to preorder one through ps direct. You could try that if you havent. Just dont buy from scalpers whatever u do
@TechaNinja same here in Canada!
Loved it. Remake of Jingle all the way coming lol Arnie dressed up as a PS5. Its PS5 time.
@Papasears. In living color is way better show than Snl.1990s the best.word up son
@playstation1995 word
Remember when SNL used to be funny?
@nessisonett are you even old enough to remember that!?
@2cents Honestly, no 😂😂
This is pretty funny 😂
A funny snl joke? That is harder to find then a ps5.
@TechaNinja
Why is that?
@Danloaded I'm of the same thought, but I don't have a PS4 backlog since I went Xbox last gen. I thought about picking up a PS4 a coupe years ago when Monster Hunter released, but I couldn't justify getting a console for one game knowing that the next gen was just on the horizon. Needless to say my first game will be Monster Hunter World.... Haha (Yes, it's available on PC and Xbox, but for me it's always been a Sony game at heart)
@deathaxe I called that coming years ago. That was after all the push of Google-led net neutrality push in the us a few years ago, where big data was coopting the impressionable herd of social media to pressure the government to allow content and services companies to force the isps to subsidize their business savings. Not that I'm a fan of the isps (see Comcast quip below) but this idea that media companies want telecom companies to be forced to spend against their own interests so that other big companies can maximize their cost cutting is going to end in something very unpleasant for consumers. The digital revolution may hit an abrupt end.
@Matroska Hush, Sony wouldn't money hat such things! And Lorne's not a for-sale hack! The nerve suggesting such things, this is a Comcast production were talking about! Yes, the people that cap you and charge you up to 250 a month for going over your 1tb data cap are the ones producing a skit promoting the 825gb console.....hmmmm.....
Maybe Sony didn't even need to pay them off to promote it....
@Papasears Yep! SNL Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey were the last of it being actually funny. Steve Martin and Gilda Radnor were the last of it being hysterical.
@Medic_Alert yep, been saying that as well. Heck the point of e3 used to be to present retailers the upcoming Christmas items si they can manage their inventory control starting through summer and align their ordering in line with where demand will be.
It's been a long long time since any of that has been true. The last real Christmas toy consoles were ps2/gcn/Dreamcast.
Me when SNL tries to be funny: 😐
I thought it was a good play on stan 🤣
Consoles have been hard to get on every launch no special way of doing it every generation is the same normal.
Not paid promotion PS5s are sold out they do not need a SNL skit to help sell them guys.
@Medic_Alert Yeah, there would have been zero harm in launching these consoles early next year. The Switch released in March and didn't hurt it, if anything it helped as opposed to if they put it out late 2016, which would have had a slower momentum with game releases.
Alternatively if Covid hadn't of been a thing I think the PS5 and X Series could have had a soft launch around July-September. Sure there wouldn't be much in the way of native software, but the hardcore probably wouldn't mind and they could have marketed the launches around their backwards compatability upgrades (hell, that's largely what Microsoft have actually done after Halo was pushed back). That would give them enough time to sort out stock for Christmas.
The fact they got an Asian to do Elton John is best. Now, we don't need to complain about Scarlet taking the lead in Ghost in the Shell. Would have been better if it was a Sony exec, though.
The last time SNL was funny and relevant was in the 90s.
Nice to finally see a well known media show do a parody about this.
@nessisonett Pepperidge Farm remembers
I'm too old to enjoy SNL anymore. I liked it in the 90s but don't watch.
@ekhojustin you are such a snowflake.
