Geoff Keighley

Summer Game Fest's live showcase is coming up very soon, with many enthusiasts excited to see what Geoff Keighley has up his sleeve. The presenter and producer, known for creating The Game Awards in addition to this fairly new summer presentation, wants all eyes on this Thursday's event, and has been drumming up excitement over the last few weeks. However, the hype merchant has somewhat backtracked, instructing people to keep expectations in check.

Speaking in a Twitter Spaces session, Keighley went over some of the content confirmed for Summer Game Fest so far. He name-drops a handful of games we know are coming to the show, but emphasises that the event will be "primarily focused on stuff that is announced". In other words, we're not getting too many big, surprise new game announcements.

"We’ve got a couple of new game announcements in the show and hopefully some surprises if everything holds," Keighley says, but urges fans to "definitely manage your expectations in terms of the megaton shocks that you’re expecting".

He continues: "We’ve got lots of good stuff to show you but buyer beware of some of the crazy rumours I’m seeing out there in terms of things people expect to get announced".

So, while it sounds like we should be in for a fun show, Summer Game Fest's focus is on updates to already announced games, with one or two brand new announcements sprinkled in. Your guess is as good as ours as far as what those are.

Anyway, are you looking forward to Summer Game Fest? What are you realistically expecting to see after Geoff's comments? Discuss in the comments section below.
