The original game was brutally difficult and it always seemed a bizarre choice to have limited lives too.
The fact a tank could blow up multiple cars but then be destroyed by a single bullet always made me laugh though. As did being able to out run police bullets at times.
GTA5 is still the most fun I’ve ever had with a game online. I just wish they’d included the “GTA races” from GTA4 where you started on foot and had to get to a checkpoint on the other side of the city by any means necessary.
@LiamCroft Thanks. It’s what I’d expect but I was wondering if someone had felt a slightly less clunky way of doing it, particularly with 20 to choose from, but it sounds like it works.
@LiamCroft How intuitive and momentum breaking are the squad abilities to use? Is it opening a wheel of options to select them (seems messy with lots of characters to choose from) and is it easy to end up using the wrong one?
So much of that review could apply to any of the Yakuza games; it was always way too easy to spend hours on something like cabaret club and then forget what exactly the main villain had actually done wrong by the time you got back to the main story.
@darkswabber I recently finished the main series of Yakuza games. Y4 was good to mix things up after the bloated Y3. Y5 is the longest of the lot (about 120hrs for me) but Y6 is a trimmed down affair and a good finish.
I still have LaD and the original Judgment to play so it’s good to hear you rate J1 so highly!
I can never get my head around people getting upset at games that are a few years old are being ported to another system.
I had no problem with waiting for Mass Effect, Disco Elysium to come to PlayStation consoles but wouldn’t have bought a different console just to play them 🤷🏻♂️
@GamingFan4Lyf I’m playing Ratchet and Clank and you can use cards to show you the location of collectibles. You can play a little video and there’s a text description too. It only shows the ones for the level you’re on and it works well.
@nessisonett It’s only really Astro and Ratchet I’ve used them for so far. Spider-Man had them but weren’t so useful and the Returnal ones only really showed your progress for glyphs etc but were wrong for ages.
I’m currently playing the game on PS5 and it already runs beautifully and has the option of 3D audio (which is also really good).
I’ll be interested to see quite what else they manage to eek out of the system to justify the cost but would be more than happy to pay for it. I’m more annoyed that I didn’t know this would be coming when I got the game!
I liked the first game too so it’s cool to see it’s coming back. My biggest gripe with the first game were that the maps were really fiddly and limited at times.
@Golem25 Tropico 5 and 6 are good games. They’re good fun without having to spend too much time with micromanagement but both still have their problems.
It can’t just be me who has had to re-download the game on their PS5 so they can upload their save file and will then have to download the game again when this comes out?
@Pro_V_Gone No problems for me with that and my guy has stayed up until 2am each day.
@Starkei I’m planning on similar; a thorough “thinker” style play through first time, then a physical build superstar addict, and finally a paranormal run.
@ShogunRok Looking at your character’s skill tree, I’m surprised he figured out how to open the door to his room at the beginning. He probably just walked straight through it.
@ShogunRok How dare you write a review of the game and not mention Kim!? I would do anything for that man and it pains me when my character upsets him.
That is one hell of a set of political thoughts in your cabinet you goddamn Commie-Nazi! I haven't even seen the "Les Adventures" thought on some guides I've browsed.
My build has been like @nessisonett with mostly logic but high on perception, composure too. I'm on day 7 now and my one criticism is that I've gained so much XP that I have a full thought cabinet and reasonable stats across the board that it doesn't feel like such a niche character any more.
@Kidfried I agree some challenging ones are good but the “simple” ones like Spider-Man, Horizon etc have you do everything there is in the game so for a developer, I think that makes sense as you want to have people see everything on offer.
I will be forever disappointed that I couldn’t get the Hollow Knight platinum as the Pantheons were too much for me. I definitely should have got something for finishing the Path of Pain though!
@LordSteev There are lots of bits which were cosmetic or guns. Shadow Broker is around 3-4 hours maybe? So at least 20hours of extra content altogether, probably closer to 30.
@LordSteev First time for the DLC? Does that mean you didn’t play Shadow Broker for ME2?? It came with the PS3 version and was a fairly meaty affair.
The Zaeed and Kasumi side stories (also included on PS3) were good and Arrivals linked ME2 and 3 together.
For ME3, From Ashes gave you Javik who was a great character and made for some interesting conversations, especially if you also had Liara on the party!
@Jaz007 To make up an example of conversation choices, you could walk into a trashed room and have options like;
“This is art, man. Total nihilism. I dig it.” “Whoever did this must have been on some serious s**t. I need me some of this.” “This is pretty rock and roll if you ask me.” “Hmm.. I wonder if the owner did this or whether this was a break in”. “This was definitely demons. The apocalypse is coming after all.”
It’s not necessarily “boring” per se but the game does push you to not play it too straight.
@Arugula Agreed, quite a weird decision to release it at this point without some “next” gen improvements.
I’m looking forward to it at some point, particularly for ME1, which I never played, and some of the ME3 DLC I never bought.. including the Citadel one!
The arm moving shipping containers thing is pretty amazing for managing to be almost universally hated. I also hated the voice casting (seriously, what’s with all the random nngh noises??) and the dialogue does feel like a teenager trying to write something serious and grownup.
But the combat is just so good and it wasn’t really until my second run where it clicked. It’s quite easy to stick to one character you prefer on normal difficulty but you really have to mix it up on hard.
At least you didn’t have to try and make sense of that ending..

RIP game manuals.

@johncalmc Thanks! Sounds pretty good overall, especially for £25.

How long was the game roughly @johncalmc ?

Re: Lost Judgment's English Voice Cast Feature in New Trailer
Playing Yakuza (etc) or Ghost of Tsushima with English dub just seems weird to me now. Looking forward to the proper lip syncing in Ghost now!
Re: Crusader Kings III: Console Edition Wages War Against PS5
@Welsh_Will I also thought Civ 6 ran fine on PS4. Loading times are (unsurprisingly) much better on PS5 too.
The controls are fine for the most part. Keyboard and mouse will always be better but I only game on my consoles so am happy with any good port!
Re: Talking Point: What September 2021 PS Plus Games Do You Want for PS5, PS4?
I’m surprised the Crash or Spyro trilogies have never made it onto PS+ (although I think the former is on the Collection on PS5).
I have them both already though! Crash Team Racing would be a perfect game though for single player and multiplayer.
Re: Talking Point: How Would You Improve PS Plus?
Better sale offers or discounts on new releases would be good. If there ever are PS+ bonuses in sales, it’s never more than a pound or two.
Re: Abandoned App Patch Drops, Trailer Is the Same as Twitter Tease

Re: PS Store Summer Sale Discounts So Many Big PS5, PS4 Games
I might have to pick up Judgment at that price. I’m finally onto Yakuza 6 and already have Like a Dragon in the backlog but give me more!!
Disco Elysium is an utter steal at under £20 so everyone should go buy that. HARDCORE!

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Game of 2021 So Far?
@nessisonett Damn, I missed The Pedestrian off the list! Definitely one that more people should try.
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Game of 2021 So Far?
Returnal and Disco Elysium for me. Both utterly incredible games and both benefit from being the only 2021 releases I’ve played so far too!
@Boucho11 Hollow Knight was one of my top 3 from the last gen. Wonderful game and one of those I wish I could play for the first time again.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: Fidelity, Performance, Performance RT - Which Graphics Mode Is Best?
@Futureshark Ditto. These are the same settings that had and I thought Performance RT was great on my older HDTV.
Re: Over 1,200 PS5, PS4 Deals Added to Indie Games Sale on PS Store
Anyone thinking about Disco Elysium should get it. Fantastic game.
Observation is a neat game for a tenner as well. Clever idea having you play as the AI on a spaceship and a good Event Horizon style story.

It will be overlooked by many but The Pedestrian is a wonderful little puzzle game that is a steal at under £10.
Re: This Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Loading Transition Is a Reminder of What PS5 Can Do
@God_of_Nowt Thanks for that reply; very interesting!
Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Gameplay Trailer Looks Simply Sublime
Having just got the platinum for the PS4 reboot, I’m gutted the series passed me by on previous gens.
It also seems weird to see Dr Nefarious looking like that in the trailer after they changed his character model for the reboot.
Re: Disco Elysium: The Final Cut (PS5) - A Hauntingly Brilliant RPG That Lives Long in the Mind
@ShogunRok Ha, that certainly makes more sense! There is a forum thread for the game if you want to do more spoilery chat;

@2cents I’m totally INTER it.
Re: PS5 Firmware Update Adds External Storage Support for PS5 Games, Social Features, and More Tomorrow
Just make the UI nicer, have folders and/or more games on the Home Screen, and get rid of the rubbish horizontal listing of trophies!
I don’t ask for much, honest.

Re: Disco Elysium Dev Speaks Out on PS5, PS4 Version: 'We Know It's Rough', Another Patch Promised
@OrigamiCrane If anything it’s the opposite of “being too far up it’s own butt” as it almost belittles you for making the boring choices in the game.
It’s a very clever game that has an amazing array of choices and one that I’ll certainly be replaying to see how differently it can be played.
Re: Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5) - A Tough Game to Love
No fart button? Being able to possess your own fart was integral to Exoddus!

No problems for me so far and I’m really enjoying the game.
Sorry to be so upbeat about it.

Re: Talking Point: What Content Do You Want from Push Square?
I do enjoy some of the slightly different pieces like @gbanas92 with his pieces on music in games and interviews along those lines.
I’m not a podcast person particularly but that could be good, particularly after big events.
Re: Reminder: Today Is Your Last Chance to Claim January 2021's PS Plus Games
This is your reminder that you can get the PS5 game for free if you have PS+ but don't have a PS5 yet.
Just go through the store online (rather than through your console) and add it to your library.
Re: Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition Bundles Everything Together Under One Roof on PS4
@get2sammyb It's worth pointing out that the Bigfoot and Pebberley Island DLC already comes with the console edition of the game.
