It's really not that impressive to be on two discs.

As already mentioned, many games have an install disc and a play disc. So if the norm is occasionally 2 discs, then I'll get excited whe it's an 8 disc release..

I'm basing this on old playstation games being on a single disc, (the norm) and then the final fantasy games that came out on 4 discs. Four times the norm is impressive! Being on the 8 disc games, lol.

I wasn't expecting it!

I assumed that there was firstly a big chunk of XVI, and also, it was a PS5/PSVR2 presentation, so maybe Rebirth is also going to be on PS4?

We all knew it would be more than a full price game (one edition is £109!!)

And we also knew it would push in game purchases.

Thankfully, some of us stuck to our guns and didn't buy it. I watched a few YouTube videos, thought it looked pretty fun, and then walked away.

This will clearly go free at some point or £9.99 on disk at Smyths like all the other Lego games, but even then, with the threat of microtransactions, I'll probably still avoid it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo.
Still have my SNES, my 64, we have 12 switches in the house, including loads of limited editions, and just one oled..

But the wishy washy pastel graphics of the new Zelda that I've seen on the adverts just hasn't grabbed my desire to buy it. I considered the special edition switch but it didn't have the game bundled.

I guess I'll just wait for my ffxvi pre-order to come, and play some really obscure playstation games while I wait like bee simulator.. how times.habe changed.

Once the price drops in a coupe of months I'll play it. That's if it's not a hot mess like Nickelodeon kart or similar!

Well, I agree that the PS1 title was the most iconic, I voted PS3 because of the ability to really customise the xmb icons, and the backgrounds and wallpapers, play and rip CDs, as an all round console, the PS3 was untouchable.

I think we all knew the answer before we clicked on the article.. but we just wanted to see how desperate you were to get the clicks. At least it was short and sweet.

In terms of amount of time played, GT7 isn't my top racing game..

Nice graphics are one thing.
Realism is another, which was spoilt by me by the BMW mini being wildly inaccurate, including different interior depending on camera chosen, which makes no sense at all. (If you don't understand what I mean, then you haven't owned and driven the early minis like I have) Given the car I know inside out is wrong, that kind of makes me think that maybe the other cars aren't exactly correct, and that the entire appeal, right? And so that was no longer a draw for me..
Then there is the needless repetition for cars that you won't use just for trophies and completionist same, and the forced FOMO of limited time cars. Scummy behaviour..

Well, since the £50 DLC pack became free for the royal edition, the price of second hand sales of the disc version have jumped up considerably. You may get lucky and find a seller who has no idea what it's worth though. And the steelbook version is commanding strong money too

Grid is great, already have it on physical release..
But it's a bit annoying when you have to do 2 different races to unlock a third, but the third only unlocks when you do one of the first two twice, due to a stupid minimum miles requirement to unlock the third..

Maybe they will go with an extremely experimental story line, where there is a straight love story.
That would probably offend a few people though, lol

How about they install an app that controls the optical drive so that it can play CDs etc.. surely then we could also play PS1 games like rage racer!

Some of us like to get the PS4 version too, especially the trophy hunters!

But I agree, we don't need a new PS5 yet, we need more console exclusives and bit just in the form of DLC

Sony: Oh no, we are making even more money, able to raise the price of our consoles due to high demand, and now have to produce and ship less physical games, that we can virtue signal as good for the environment, while also limiting second hand sales and keeping the digital games market prices higher, which we make more profit on than physical games..

My only gripe with PS5 is I have to use my Roku to use itvX and a few other on demand services because in the UK we have BBC iPlayer and not a lot else.

"Hangs up his trench coat" at best means has given up, and in this case should imply that the game was going to come out but it's been cancelled.

@Smiffy01 it's an amusing joke, but your PS5 wouldn't run if you did remove the drive. The mother board checks for the daughter board on the drive and kicks up an error.

I put more hours into grid legends than GT7, and so I honestly believe grid legends is the better game.
The other 2 sound interesting...

Hopefully Aloy will have had enough time to catch her breath, and she won't sound like she's just run up a load of stairs, whilst trying to sound like Gladys from hi de hi.

Of some of you really want to know about Musk, there's plenty of decent documentaries about..
He was loaded, made more money, nearly lost it all, but really got Uber rich with the space contract.

So many people thinking the scalpers are hurting from this.

They made £200+ a console, probably sold 50 or so over two years without even trying.
This cut price stratios just shrinkage, the cost of doing business. They are entrepreneurs and no worse than apple who famously just put components already in existence and packaged it up at huge mark ups.
Some of these had warranties that ran out while still in the box (like my ratchet and clank edition on my display shelf)

The real bad guys are the people who allowed scalping to happen.
The idiot buyers who fell for pester power and FOMO.
Sony for not having a system where when a ps5 console was sold, the serial number of each one started a 2 day timer where the ps5 should be required to go online and be linked with a psn account that has had its address and IP address verified. This would have made selling multiple units from one house much more difficult.. Sure people may have used VPNs, but the address thing would have hindered most opportunist sellers.
I'd write more, but I can't be arsed!

So.. when does speedstorm go free to play forever on PlayStation.
It's clearly geared up for microtransactions..

Final fantasy XII (lightning returns if I remember correctly) was bloody awful. That entire timed day mechanic just encouraged you to use a guide instead of relaxing and playing it while discovering it's world, in case you missed something out.

I for one wouldn't buy it again after owning the PS3 version.

Pegged is the right word.

If you buy this, it will be £200+ and be not perfect and therefore a total waste of money.

I have really very gigabit broadband and very capable wifi, but the vita was still dodgy doing remote play with the PS5. It was better on the PS4, so hopefully there's way better tech inside to make it work reliably

I use remote play quite a bit with my vita.
But I find I get a much more stable connection with my PS4 pro than my launch PS5. Not sure why..

They were free ages ago. Back when the European code actually worked.

As an owner of all playstation consoles, and a couple versions of the switch, I couldn't give a monkeys..

If the game I've never heard of (and only have now because of this twist) comes out on playstation a few weeks later, I'll wait for playstation, if it's actually a good game. Switch games tend to cost more, and stay at a higher price for longer.
Plus, when I buy it on playstation my kids can all play it on thier playstations too. Can't really do that on switch as download would be only for one account, but I can download it to all playstations in the house for no extra outlay

Particularly cool are the stages to the beat levels.. it's a great game, but with none of your usual 'make your own' levels the community was based around..

No where near as hard as any previous ones, but it made it more fun to play with my kids.

Acing all the levels doesn't matter anymore as far as I can remember, or if if did, they were much easier than those from previously. (Remember the rotating levels from I'm gonna guess lbp2.. lol)

So, sackboy that surely everyone bought the PS4 version, finished it, then upgraded to the ps5 version, enjoyed the wool on the floor which wasn't in the PS4 version, finished that..

A hand drawn RPG from 2001 that I personally have never seen before until I clicked the link..

And a FPS. Because God knows we haven't had too many FPS games on ps essentials..

Maybe I need to take my happy pills, but I'm not at all excited about any of them..

Could well be a handheld (makes sense with the PS3/PSP store closing recently) or even some slim PS5 or special translucent version of the PS5 as PS5 prices have been slashed 10% in the USA and up to 20% in the UK.
All PS5 variants and most of the controllers have had prices slashed by Argos, etc

Exactly my thoughts.
There's no way I'm buying dlc for a full price title unless it's epic.
Last full price race game I bought all the dlc for was Burnout Paradise. And it was worth every penny!!
Plus all my DLC went across to the PS4 and PS5 version for free. UK and USA versions!!

At £59.99 for the download version, this will be a wait for a while title for me.

Happy playing Kartriders drift and a few others for a while.

It's a good job it won't take long to platinum, as in my rare experience with EA sport games, the servers go off pretty quickly after the next one comes out.

That game is interesting but it really starts to drag at the 24 hours in mark..

Ridge racer type 4 was well ahead of it's time.
I occasionally watch YouTube videos of it to remind myself how great it is.
It has such slick loading screens and was to ridge racer what street fighter alpha / Zero was for the street fighter franchise.

If this gets trophies, then this will be the game that gets me off of the essentials tier as so far nothing above essentials has tempted me yet..

@Dr_Rock No, unfortunately. You'd have to own the digital version too.

The only reason this kind of makes sense is that if you had the disc version, then got the digital version free as a consequence of having the disc version, then you could sell the disc version, and the next person could do the same. It would really affect digital purchases, and Sony don't want that as it all profit!

@RobN there's a really easy solution to that problem, and should be fine as you totally trust each other.

Make her console your primary, and your console her primary, and you can play all your games and all her games, and she can do the same.

My kids playstation is my primary, and they can play all my games, and I can play all my games on my playstation no worries.

@RobN I am glad you brought this up, because this is exactly my opinion. It's rare that anyone would buy the digital version after the physical version, and so it's not really that much of a feature.
But I have had the same thing where I've had Minecraft dungeons or story mode or whatever, and it goes free on PS+, and I thought I just stopped using the disc, but I remember now that I used to install it all again as digital..
