As far as unexpected announcements go, where does this one rank? Microids is bringing Inspector Gadget: Mad Time Party to PS5 and PS4 later this year, a one-to-four-player title that promises to immerse you in the “iconic” world of the trench coated detective. “Stroll through the environments of the original series, meet characters such as Chief Quimby, Penny, or the M.A.D. agents, and use the various gadgets of the Inspector to fight the M.A.D. forces,” the press release reads.
The blurb continues: “Play as the iconic Inspector Gadget and join your friends in this new party game. Metro City has fallen under the control of the evil Dr. Claw. In order to save the city, Inspector Gadget must use a time machine to go back in time. Unfortunately, the machine breaks down and the inspector’s ancestors are teleported to the present. You’ll have to solve mini-game quests to unlock the bolts needed to repair it.”
There’s no trailer just yet, but the screenshots do have a nice cel-shaded look to them which somewhat captures the style of the original animated series. Apparently, there’ll be 16 minigames in total, and the soundtrack has been composed by Tanis Chalopin, the daughter of Inspector Gadget’s original creator, Jean Chalopin.
We can’t imagine this will set the world alight, but it could end up being entertaining when played with family and friends – especially if you’re a fan of the franchise!

I still don't understand what the game is after reading this. Is it a four party Mario Party style game or are you running around an open world completing missions with coop mini games placed throughout?
I was interested until I read it was a party game.
Considering he was big in the 80s, it’s kinda crazy seeing this exists. I use to watch this with my papaw.

I loved that show when I was a kid. At least I did initially. But then TV stations broadcasted reruns constantly and I saw the same episodes repeated again and again and I got sick of it. They used to play them early in the morning, right when I was getting out of bed. There were no other cartoons on at that time of day, so it was all I had to watch. ☹️

Not sure you realize what "hangs up its trench coat" actually implies...
"Hangs up his trench coat" at best means has given up, and in this case should imply that the game was going to come out but it's been cancelled.
Who writes this stuff? Who checks it? And what is the game exactly? We knew more before this article, I reckon.
I’d consider getting this one. Liked Gadget as a kid, but it’s one of those 80’s shows my son has an affinity with. It’s always strange to me that he likes verbatim some of the same stuff I did at his age, and with little prodding. It just happens that way. Ghostbusters, Gadget, David the Gnome, all the OGs. Seems this would be more his style game than mine too.
I can't think of Gadget without thinking of that classic theme song.😋
As for this game, I need to see it in action but I'm not really interested in a party title.
