An erroneous product listing for Burnout Paradise Remastered sent the Internet into a bit of a spin overnight, as it mentioned “optional” in-game purchases for the upcoming re-release of Criterion’s classic arcade racer. It was, of course, just an error – but given EA’s recent history, many players had their pitchforks out before waiting for clarification.
Fortunately, community manager Ben Falke was quick to poor cold water on the raging inferno. “There are no microtransactions or paid for content,” he clarified. You won’t even be able to purchase the Time Saver Pack, which on the PlayStation 3 allowed you to immediately unlock all of the title’s content for a nominal fee. All of the release’s original DLC will be included as part of the package for free.

yeah because they know that people will come down on them like a tonne of bricks and rightly so too
besides i'm sure all this talk of age restricting games with loot boxes has them a little nervous right now
Now that I think about it, I want dead space trilogy with all dlc unlocked, especially with dead space 3
I wouldn't tempt them.
Well good they learned their lesson! They’d have to be just pure ignorant or dumb to understand that MTs can only be cosmetic only. Follow the overwatch or GTA model as those are successful
I wouldn’t say they “learned there lesson” in this case. I mean, it’s a remaster. EA has made bad decisions but they don’t WANT people to hate them. Although sometimes it does seem like they do😂
Booooh! I want microtransations...damn you EA, can't you do something right?
EA: somehow slightly better than Activision
Activision did not get that memo with COD 4 i want to thank all the idiots who did spend them on My and the expensive mappacks.
Sign of the times when you have to report when games won't have microtransactions.
That said, please please please Remaster Dead Space trilogy.
well it looks like they might of learned a lesson from star wars battlefront 2 but being EA i doubt it.
@smythelove For me its only cosmetic is bull payed DLC should never be in a lootbox.
Cosmetic or not so no Overwatch did it wrong the same goes for doing a event and let the community pay for the pricemoney while they get the free advertisement.
DLC should never be a gamble you should be able te see what you pay you for.
The reason they have lootboxes is to maximize their profit and not because they are so kind. Lootboxes are fine when they are free not when they are payed.
At GTA you pay and you know what you get.
Its hardly free - but it is included in the package. £35 for a 'remaster' of a 10yr old game would be considered quite high if it didn't include all the DLC too. I don't consider it 'free' to have the DLC but that I am paying for it alongside the main game in one complete bundle. For it to be 'free' they would have to sell the game at £35 without the DLC included and then add the DLC at no extra cost at a later date. You expect that the DLC would be included - that was very contentious with CoD4 when the DLC wasn't and even more when they charged for the remastered maps...
@BAMozzy Well COD 4 did it lower the bar and its a complete package its up to you to buy it. But free is a the wrong way to word it i agree but we get what they mean no additional fees.
@Flaming_Kaiser that’s a good point transparency is vey key!
Good call, EA. Of course, it's also a remaster of an old game. If we ever get a new Burnout (still think it's not likely) I'd expect lootboxes out the wazoo.
@Gamer83 Unfortunately, you're probably right.
@Flaming_Kaiser It would have been better to phrase it as one complete bundle - all inclusive for one price with NO additional costs or micro-transactional content.
CoD4 was a fantastic example of remastering done right - by that I mean the quality of the remaster work - not just a port with a higher output resolution. However it is also an example of the how NOT to do a remaster too - sell the DLC separately, change the MP meta with 'loot crates' and 'new' weapons too.
You expect a complete bundle - if not the game and all DLC, a collection of games in a series - like N Sane trilogy, Ezio Collection, Arkham Collection etc. You also expect the game to be the 'same' as before - maybe a few 'minor' tweaks to how the game controls and/or performs but to still keep the same complete content. If you change something, it no longer becomes a remaster but a remake or re-envisioning.
That "pour poor water"....
If EA was a celebrity it would probably be Rob Kardashian. Never quite good enough in every respect.
In the Future - Buy 4 wheels for £10 to play the game
A very cynical part of me thinks that the "erroneous product listing" wasn't actually in error, but rather an older version that somebody forgot to update.
This has obviously been in the works for a while and I wouldn't be surprised if EA's initial plan was to include microtransactions, but then the past four months convinced them that doing so would be suicidal.
If that is the case, then that's actually a good thing, because it shows that they're willing to adapt and learn from their mistakes.
I'm sure they thought about adding micro transactions.
They would if they could get away with it. No matter what price activision/ea/ubisoft charge for a game they're still going to try and add microtransactions, the full price is irrelevant now.
All eyes on EA after the awful mess they made of Battlefront, it was even on the National News. Guess they are playing it safe for now.
"There are no microtransactions or paid for content"
But as it contains the game and all DLC, it will sell for £125.
They will include microtransactions at some point. It's EA after all.
@Flaming_Kaiser CoD 4 didn't have loot boxes. Loot boxes weren't even a thing when that game came out.
@Tasuki He's talking about the remaster of COD 4 which had supply drops.
But I just varnished and sharpened my pitchfork! Come on!
