Re: Site News: Where's Our Borderlands 4 PS5 Review?

OldGamer999

It’s simple no buy from me, shall wait for the reviews.
However to me it’s so slack that some companies do this. Probably to do with the big day one patch, to improve things before console reviews get posted.
So the review will be of the patched version of the game.

Re: Gears of War Reckons It's Ended the Console War as Reloaded Tops 1 Million Players

OldGamer999

Sony has no real console war since last and this generation, unless you include Switch or Switch 2. Which I do as it’s a console and if didn’t exist people would have to buy PS5 or Pro.

Sony has been its own enemy since after the PS4 days and first 2 years of the PS5.
Let’s hope Ghost of Yotei gets them really back in form in house studio wise and back on 2 big AAA per year.

Re: Gears of War: Reloaded (PS5) - Iconic Xbox Shooter Is the Perfect Intro for PlayStation Fans

OldGamer999

An amazing game when first released on the Xbox360 creating a definitive moment for the Xbox’s greatest console the xbox360, along with other amazing games.
Never to be repeated by Xbox in that same way, such a shame.

7 seems about the right score for a game that his hidden behind old gameplay structure and old AI enemies and unreal 3 engine updated of course.

No let’s get on with the new gears e day and move forward.
This generation slowly becoming the remaster generation.

Re: 'There's No Real Need for a PS6': Industry Veteran Weighs in on Next-Gen Debate

OldGamer999

Well we are getting to a point of diminishing returns cost over visuals.
Also adding extra development time for a big AAA game.
This is one reason Nintendo keeps it low to medium in the power stakes. It enables less cost and development time with AAA games and more focus on gameplay and innovation.

The PS5 and Series X really have not shined this generation over the top games of the PS4 Pro and Xbox one x generation.

Re: 'They Don't Know What They're Doing': Analyst Sticks the Boot in Sony's 'Clueless' Management

OldGamer999

These analysts do state some of the obvious after the event 🤣
As for me all I know is Sony are not giving me the big AAA exclusives campaign wise from their own studios that they own out right, they did in the PS4 days and the start of the PS5 days and should have just kept the ball rolling.

Then there is Xbox that have taken a totally different route and never got the series x to shine to its full potential.

Nintendo seem to be the only ones on a stable AAA in house studio game line, but time will tell with switch 2.

Been a very different and hard generation for me with PS5 and series x. Definitely not as good as the PS4 and Xbox one era.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo

OldGamer999

I don’t think Sony would hurt their own console eco system pushing some older games to Switch 2.
I mean say like Horizon forbidden west or zero dawn, uncharted 4 etc.

To me it actually seems a waste of money not to port these to Switch 2.

Sony could become the best third party supplier of top quality AAA games to the switch 2 and maybe even rival Nintendos own quality games, get an amazing name for its self with the Nintendo gamers and boom.

Watch the millions of Yen roll in.

Re: 'It's Not About Checking Off a Map, It's About Engaging with What Excites You': Ghost of Yotei PS5 Gameplay Stuns

OldGamer999

@IOI
Absolutely, but I’m surprised to this day, but maybe copy right stops it or just studio pride, that more of TOTK or BOTW has not been copied into a new open world games.
Especially the capabilities in TOTK.

Maybe it’s my age but AC shadows which I like still feels rinse and repeat to me and so does Ghost 2. I like both so that’s ok, but gaming does seem very much the same for the last 5 years are so.

Re: 'It's Not About Checking Off a Map, It's About Engaging with What Excites You': Ghost of Yotei PS5 Gameplay Stuns

OldGamer999

@IOI
I have to give TOTK my open world top game
I think it was Links capabilities that gave you options to do things in many different ways.

Yes there was some quiet bland moments and strange exploration, but overall the capabilities and most things you did where meaningful and helped your character or development that puts it top open world game for me.

Re: 'It's Not About Checking Off a Map, It's About Engaging with What Excites You': Ghost of Yotei PS5 Gameplay Stuns

OldGamer999

If you loved the ghost like me you are gonna love ghost 2.
More big better really.

The problem with open world games they must be hard to make different. Like AC shadows some love it some hate it.
You have to give some story and some direction, the best I think you can do is make the open world interesting and give lots of things to do.
But make everything you collect or task have some really good reward going towards you character and game progression in some way but also meaningful.

Re: Sony Sued for 'Abusing Its Dominant Position in the Console Market'

OldGamer999

@Grumblevolcano
Taking out any politics.
I just go by the cost of the materials and the products.
So surely cost wise if you are not making a disc and a case for the disc then your product should be cheaper digitally.
Then you have the cut to the retailer which is not there.
So the digital product should be cheaper.

So going just on the above a digital game on release should be cheaper than physical.

That is simple production cost economics.

Re: Sony Sued for 'Abusing Its Dominant Position in the Console Market'

OldGamer999

I have not got how these companies get away with selling digital games on release day as or more expensive than the disc version.

Firstly less production costs, no disc or case.
Secondly, no percentage to a shop for the sale.

To me it’s the biggest piss take these companies have done over the years.

Then again if we buy them at that price digitally, they will sell them at that price.
But it’s still terrible corporate greed and customer piss taking.

Re: Death Stranding 2's Unbelievable PS5 Load Times Are Practically Instant

OldGamer999

This is what happens when you have a special game engine from Sony and development focused on one Console, from coders and engineers that know what they are doing.

That is why I never want the death of consoles and exclusives.

This is how Nintendo and Sony get to make those special games, one console development
That end up in the 90s plus and critically acclaimed.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

OldGamer999

@HonestHick
I’m very glad it looks like we are keeping all three in some form.
It’s great for competition if nothing else.
They all actually need each other to perform at their individual best whatever path they take.

And each of them have better generations than each other within different generations and individually.

Like for me the PS4 generation was a lot better than the PS5 generation currently, let’s see what Sony does for the remaining PS5 generation.

The WII for me just about pips the switch generation, switch went on for to long and with some big game gaps from Nintendo AAA in house.

And of course the xbox360 generation was the best Xbox generation for me.

So will be interesting to see next generation and what Sony and Xbox bring and of course by then if Nintendo get it right the switch 2 should be in full on mode.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

OldGamer999

@Oram77
The first two years of PS5 was great even though they went back in we believe in generations and they where made for PS4 as well, but that was fine by me, great single player Sony studios AAA campaign games.

But since then it’s been slow and the time wasted and money lost running the GAAS game.

As for Xbox, I don’t care if Sony have sold more than them.
It’s not about Xbox or even Nintendo. It’s about Sony getting back to doing the PS4 era thing.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

OldGamer999

Sony will be ok and so will Xbox and Nintendo with what they do.

For me after recent Sony things and now Bungie with Marathon, need to forget about the competition if we are allowed to call it that as Sony think they have none 🤣
And looked inwards and improve their in house game development and get Sony back to the PS4 days AAA campaign games wise from their OWN studios and become the Sony I so enjoyed in the PS4 era and not this boring slow unexciting Sony corporate thing they have become.

Re: Bungie Delays Marathon Indefinitely, No New PS5, PC Release Date Given

OldGamer999

Yay another Sony studio mess up.
How comes even xbox can get their act together after a terrible start.

Don’t worry Nintendo will just sell another 150 million plus consoles with switch 2.
Sorry I forget Nintendo are not competition for PlayStation.

Can Sony come out with any more rubbish this year. Or just buy some third party timed exclusives to cover their incompetence.

Don’t worry Xbox studios have some games for you.
