The Future of Destiny 2 Will Be Revealed Soon, as Bungie Teases The Edge of Fate

My gaming group still plays it regularly, but many of us have fallen off post Final Shape.

The game just isn't keeping players meaningfully engaged.

The only loot you chase, is guns that fit into 3 slots in your load out. So you're just constantly replacing things you already farmed for, which feels bad, or pointless when what you already have is better.

I probably would have gotten back onto Destiny 2 a few times now, but the onboarding for new and lapsed players is so comically bad.

It really puzzles me that a developer would make it so hard to get new players in. Seems like they want the game to fail via attrition.

Nah, I don’t want to pay for content (again) that I’ll lose access to. Bungie lost me a long time ago.

As someone who has over 10K hours in D2, I stopped playing after the Final Shape, but depending on what is shown I MAY go back in, BUT a lot needs to be improved for that to be the case.

it's not really Destiny 2 now lets face it almost all that content is gone from the game it's more like Destiny 2.5

I played D1 and D2 pretty hard for a while at launch but fell off a little bit before that big restructure for light levels and whatnot. I tried to play it again mainly for a PS Stars rewards some time back and while the shooting felt great, I was just confused by the game itself. It just didn't feel the same and made me wonder why I liked it for as long as I did. Even though it's no longer my thing, I hope whatever announcement this is, is good for Bungie and the community that still plays.

Been back into D2 recently the past couple weeks for the first time in over a year. For a few hours a week with friends, I think there's enough to do. Scratches that itch in-between other games I'm working my way through. Wasn't expecting another expansion. "Final" Shape sounded like a good send off even though the door was always cracked open. Was hopeful D3 was closer, if Bungie is even working on it.

Nobody is forcing me, but please, make it stop.

Love the game, but got off the treadmill awhile ago when they started charging for expansions AND season passes. Now to get “all” of the content, you have to spend around $100 a year and that’s just to steep for what I’m getting.

@wildcat_kickz same here - on a whim i bought a lot of dlc in the sale a year or so back, and I jumped in and was like... yeah there's a lot of new stuff here and I can't wrap my head around it.

I'd love to get back into it, but it's just so overwhelming!

They're going to tell everyone to forget all your Destiny 2 progress and start again with.... Destiny 3!!!

Just like they did from Destiny to Destiny 2 (which was exactly when I gave up playing it).

Mix of the above, but ultimately Bungie lost me due to gate keeping content and lack of consideration for the solo players.
If I'm to pay $100 a year for content, why is the best content locked behind try-hard raids? Don't get me wrong, challenging content is good, I've completed a chunk of the raids, but the raids that take 2+ hours to complete if you know exactly what you're doing AND have a Fireteam that are excellent at communicating, are inaccessible or impossible for players that don't have the time or friends or groups to do that stuff.

It just became more and more obvious how much time and money I was wasting on a game that doesn't consider solo players.

I gave up when I got Forsaken 4 months after launch and they then released new content and I refused to buy it. It was at that point that I realised if you didn't buy it your out of the loop and I saved my money, no game should make you feel like your forced to pay for new content asap. I don't think this game let you do it at your own pace they literally raised your light level automatically, when I was playing on the occasion and at my own pace.
