Sony's New State of Play Proves the Value of Deep Dives, Trends on YouTube 1

Sony’s new State of Play may not have been the exact broadcast many wanted, but it’s a reminder of the value of Deep Dives.

Borderlands 4, presumably through contractual reasons, got an exclusive 20-minute broadcast on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel overnight, and it’s already well on its way to a million views.

At the time of writing, the video is trending on YouTube, and the feedback has been very positive overall. Many feel this is looking like a return to form for Gearbox’s looter shooter series.

In particular, fans are quite taken with the slightly more grounded tone, slick traversal, and new loot possibilities.

This isn’t the first time Sony’s dedicated a State of Play to a single game, as the likes of Hogwarts Legacy and Gran Turismo 7 have received similar broadcasts in the past. It’s a format we’d like to see used more often, as we reckon it’s a great way to properly showcase an upcoming game.

Hopefully the platform holder is paying attention to the feedback, and has similar streams planned for the likes of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Ghost of Yotei, and, if we’re extremely lucky, GTA 6.

That latter one would probably break the Internet, wouldn’t it?
