PlayStation, Hideo Kojima's Next-Gen Physint Game 'Five or Six' Years Away

Well, I guess we can say for PS5 this Physint.

The older I get, the more I cringe at long timelines for games, and the more I think about how few games Kojima has left in him, and how I have less and less in me. Nonetheless, I'll be looking forward to it!

I was a kid when Metal Gear Solid was released, with no idea that I'd still be greedily anticipating the next game from Kojima when I was pushing 50. But I bet it'll be worth the wait.

"PHYSINT". It's not Kojima or the marketing department being cute, in this instance. The project's title makes reference to the suffix "INT", which in intelligence and defence circles is used to denote that the intelligence in question has come from a particular source.

For instance, HUMINT is intelligence from a human source, SIGINT is intelligence derived from intercepting signals, IMINT is intelligence derived from analysing images, etc. The point is it's always capitalised.

PHYSINT isn't a real-world category of intelligence, so my guess would be that Kojima intends that this would be a reference to intelligence derived from some sort of sci-fi source, maybe fundamental physics or somehow meta physical.

Kinda crazy how we're getting a Kojima game and an MGS game within a couple of months of each other, and there's a very strong chance Konami could have another remake ready in time to launch the same year as PHYSINT.

I'm not claiming either side is petty enough to do this on purpose, but I'm also not ruling it out, hahaha

Either way, I'll play all of em!

I bet it’ll be on PS5 as well. I think uptake of the next gen is going to be at least as slow as this gen, and the PS6 is not going to be such a massive leap over PS5 that the game can’t be run on the older hardware.

I'd be surprised if OD makes it out this gen as well. I think it will be DS2 on PS5, OD a cross-gen release on neXbox launch on '27, then Physint as a early-mid PS6 title on '30.

Do we know what engine they're using for OD? It would be interesting to see Kojima "port" Decima to Xbox or if Sony would even let him.

That's absolutely okay, I'll bide the time, Kojima-san. Yotei will be out in autumn and the backlog waits!

Physint easter egg in Death Stranding 2 would be neat, and looking forward to Kojima-san turning 66~

Even if Physint turned out be $80 and not for everyone, without a doubt be a steal 😄

When the time PHYSINT out, Kojima will be 66-67 years old. So the game could be Kojima final game before he retired.

@StrickenBiged I would imagine something like intelligence based on physical bodies. Using physical human bodies as gateways to another dimensions to wage wars on this invisible front.
He already did a lot of that in Death Stranding with Beach Babies and Necromothers.

I really don't see the point in talking about games this far in advance.

And if he's anything like Miyazaki from Studio Ghibli, his eventual retirement may not last very long... Miyazaki's "final" film came out 12 years ago, but he just released a new one a year or so ago, and I believe he's working on yet another one now.

I mean why were people expecting different death stranding 2 is this year and he still has to make the xbox game next he's also got the movie project in the works as well I would've been shocked if this game was releasing by the time of ps6
