@PuppetMaster I'm not sure how a game can play 'exactly like Overwatch, Apex, Valorant, or Destiny' when those four games are very different gameplay experiences to start with.
@AdamNovice This. And as I said in another thread, they wheeled out two former devs who were Destiny PvP big guns back in the day, who are at the heart of Concord's gameplay design. Expecting it to be super-tight.
Concord will have incredibly tight gameplay - that's my prediction. Seeing Newsk and Hamrick in that segment, two of the devs at the heart of Destiny's best PvP period tells me so. Some other potential gems in the SOP, and obviously Astro!
It’s a must-play for me to conclude the story, and with the core of my clan still very active it should be a good time for lapsed players like me. How Bungie nail the conclusion to that story though… we will see.
My son got massively into Civ VI this past week and watching him working out all the mechanics for the first time is a lot of fun! Once I've booted him off the TV, more Dragons Dogma II and Destiny 2 for me.
So it's Destiny 2 as I prep for the Final Shape, the new content is fun and the loot grind for returning weapons is real.
I'll also continue my Dragon's Dogma II playthrough. I wasn't going to look anything up but I really want to try Magick Archer, so I'll look to mainline towards that vocation's NPC.
Fix the known issue with refresh rate mismatch (PS5 is 59.94hz, Portal is 60hz) that causes constant stutter Sony, and then we'll talk. And no, having to change multiple PS5 settings manually every time I use it to try and coax out performance is not the answer... Mine is a good-looking brick on the sideboard until then.
Finished season one last night and I'm highly impressed by the way they handled the three/four main character arcs throughout, as well as the balance between flashbacks and 'present' day. Great so far and can't wait for more.
Combining the discounts I get from PS Stars with discounted store credit from ShopTo, digital games are more affordable than ever. I am even buying day one games digitally - even though at the start of this gen I promised myself I would buy all the major releases on physical and only indies/games on sale from the PS store. As an incentive to go digital, Sony have definitely won me over here, and I'm betting many others too.
Back into Destiny 2 for the new season after months away, played a little bit last night and it's still the best gunplay out there. Looking forward to the Final Shape already.
More Dragon's Dogma 2 for sure, it's my GOTY so far, and I need to find the will to return to FF VII Rebirth - like @Kidfunkadelic83 and @Rangers420 , when you drop off that game it feels like a hard road back.
Even though I've fallen off Destiny in recent months I still have The Final Shape preordered - I've played since the OG Destiny beta and this concluding chapter is simply a must-play for me. Fingers crossed for the reveal.
The plan was more Dragon's Dogma 2 on the Portal while I spend the Easter weekend at the in-laws, but their Wi-Fi is failing me... so I'l probably default to Civ VI on my laptop. Ah well.
I wonder if this will be another of those 'you only get Spidey on the Sony platform' situations... anyway, they had me at 'new Marvel game' and lost me at 'hero shooter'.
@ShogunRok Did you play with a VRR enabled TV or monitor? I have VRR and I'm hoping it rescues the frame rate a little. Great review in progress by the way.
Interesting, based on the previews I've read and watched I had this pegged as a 7/10 'wait for sale'. Which I'll still do, as Dragon's Dogma 2 comes first.
Starting easy with the Dragons Dogma 2 character creator, then finally kicking off my FF VII Rebirth playthrough. My son is on chapter 9 and avoiding spoilers has been stressing me out, so I need to dive in this weekend. Late night Helldivers 2 also on the cards!
It's going to be a busy weekend with Helldivers 2 filling the gaps between starting my FF VII Rebirth playthrough and my continued obsession with Baldur's Gate III
@TwoDents This is typically because the lower down an org you go, the more duplication of roles exist and therefore the opportunity is there to make cuts and still have someone pick up the tasks. You don't simply go after the highest salaries first...
@SystemAddict It's ruined the experience short term for me and it's absolutely in their interest to fix it - preferably by implementing a variable refresh rate on the Portal, if possible.
And if Sony bothered to fix the known Hz streaming mismatch between PS5 (60) and Portal (59.94) that causes regular stuttering I would use mine a lot more…
Nostalgia intensifies, at least for older gamers like me. I remember going over to my mate Tim's house after school so he could show off Attack of the Mutant Camels on his Commodore 64. Looking forward to this!
I'll get in before most of the haters to state something pretty obvious. He worked at Sony for decades, rose up through the ranks and ended up at the top. To do that you have to have a positive influence and achieve meaningful results along the way.
It will be interesting to see who is next and how they approach the role as PlayStation faces the profitability headwind laid out in other articles recently.
Seriously though, my time spent in the closed beta was more than enough; interesting to note from this and other reviews that endgame perhaps has more to offer than most will ever see due to the perseverance required to get there…
In these recent years of rapidly rising inflation, when the key controllable cost in most businesses is the people, below inflation salary increases are more common than ever as a means of cost control. That doesn't make them right necessarily, but they are an unfortunate reality right now.
Back to Baldur's Gate Act 3, the gift that keeps on giving. Though all the people I play Destiny with appear to have bought Helldivers II so now there's that temptation...
@Nem You mean you didn’t explain it… at least not at first! Based on previous evidence the live service push is being made alongside more traditional first party development, Naughty Dog bei by a good example. So I still doubt the impact tbh.
@Nem Share fluctuations are driven by measurable results - and there are no measurable results for their 'dumb live service push' yet. So erm... no, it's not that.
I don't see day and date in this for all Sony titles - as per previous statements I can see live service day and date and shorter windows (no doubt restricted by required dev time) for PC ports of the main first party titles - maybe within a year of release, every title.
