I don't disagree with him regarding the visuals. It does not look good. I love classic looking pixel art games. Probably my favorite visual style in gaming. But this just isn't it. It looks generic and animates poorly compared to other modern pixel art games.
Can't speak on the gameplay of course since I haven't played it, but visually, it's not impressive at all.
Hard pass with the frame rate problems. There are too many other games out there for me, making skipping the games that have issues like that an easy choice.
Definitely looking forward to Code Vein 2 since I enjoyed the first game, but I will be waiting for a deep discount on it since Bandai Namco games always go for dirt cheap very quickly, and I'm busy with other games right now anyway.
My god, the screen tearing is horrendous in the game on PS5. It would make a PS3 game blush. I've never seen anything like it in a fighting game. Way too distracting for me to play it like that.
If it requires patches on games to be implemented, then it's difficult to be excited about it honestly, since a lot of games will likely never be updated for it. Will just have to wait and see.
Two things here. 1, for the love of gaming please stop announcing your games so flipp'n early. It doesn't help anyone, and only puts even more pressure on the dev team to crunch and get the game out as soon as possible. And 2, stop the damn crunch! It's unhealthy for the dev team and everyone involved. The more I hear about that crap, the less interest I have in a game.
It will always be in the poor to awful range for me simply for how disrespectful they are to the awards and winners. The gaming industry still doesn't have a proper awards program that treats the industry, and the people who work in it, with respect.
Sad to see a studio close, but they only have their colleagues who used the gen AI to blame. Anyone trying to put blame on "cancel culture" and the people who rightfully called this out is just being disingenuous. Put your disgust in the right place.
And yes of course people shouldn't go to extreme lengths like death threats and harassing individuals at the company. 100% that is a huge heck no. But that's not why the studio had to close.
Would love to see Capcom take a crack at Dead Space, but I'm sure they would only want to devote resources to Resident Evil. Honestly not sure who else I'd trust with the series though.
I said this elsewhere, but I'll say it here as well. Unfortunately, this isn't surprising. Shovel Knight suffered from the usual Kickstarter scope creep bloat, where all the stretch goals forced them to work on that game for ages before really starting anything new. And you can't survive on one game and its expansions forever. People can only buy and re-buy Shovel Knight so many times. And now Mina is taking forever to launch as well.
This is absolutely the case. With Falcom being the latest offender with Ys X Proud Nordics. I was not happy when they announced it only a few weeks after the original game launched here in the west. I had only just finished the game two days before they announced Proud Nordics. I 100% would have waited for the upgraded version had I known they were going to pull that. They hadn't done that with any previous Ys games, so I had no idea it would happen this time. Let's just say that I won't be buying the next Ys game on day one this time. Or even year one for that matter.
2029 at the earliest for a PS6 for me. Would prefer 2030 for the launch. With diminishing returns for new consoles these days, the PS5 is just getting started as far as I'm concerned.
No HDR is shocking. Tetris Effect had HDR even on the PS4, and it was a defining feature of the game's visuals.
Either way, Lumines just isn't for me. I bought the original on the PSP way back when it launched, and again on my Switch. But I just can't get into the game. It just isn't a very fun puzzle game in my opinion. Especially compared to Tetris and Puzzle League/Panel de Pon.
Not even remotely surprising unfortunately. With 3 of the 5 being based on movie properties, it shows that they still aren't ready to consider video games as art.
@get2sammyb Needing to set the display options for every single game in every single mode. Including online, which only allows you to set it after an online match startsāforcing you to scramble into the options menu and fix it before the round starts. Set it for offline arcade mode? Great!...now do it again for offline training. And again for offline fatality training. And then repeat alllll of that for every single game in the collection. It's insane that issues like that were overlooked, not only by the developers, but also by reviewers.
It is horrendous. I haven't touched it since launch night, and won't until they fix it. The input lag makes the games feel "sticky" and unresponsive. The online audio issues made me mute the game during the handful of matches I tried (which took forever to get matched up with). You have to set your display options for every game in every mode. Including online where you can't change it until after you've entered a match with someone online where you have to scramble to fix it before the match starts. Just atrocious. I was stunned by the review scores I've seen for it after playing it myself.
Happy? Heck no. I doubt anyone is actually happy to pay it. The biggest scam in gaming has always been having to pay to play your games online on consoles. We pay only because they force us to, not because we're "happy" to do it.
Yeah, online was severely broken in my experience yesterday. I had to mute the audio, because the audio stuttering was unbearable. And the input lag was atrocious. This should not have released in this state.
Need to see how well this is implemented before I consider buying the game. I was excited for it when it was announced, because I love MGS3, but I specifically did not buy it when it released in such a bad state.

Re: Game of the Month: Trails beyond the Horizon (January 2026)
Very well deserved. The game is amazing.
Re: Poll: Vote for Your PS5 Game of the Month (January 2026)
Trails Beyond the Horizon for sure. I'm having a blast playing through it still with about 55 hours into it at the moment.
Re: Poll: What's Your Reaction to Horizon Hunters Gathering?
Hard pass for me. Zero interest in these types of games.
Re: MLB The Show 26 Pitches Lots of New Features and First PS5 Gameplay Footage
So as someone who has never played this series before, is there a reason the game looks like an old early to mid gen PS4 game in that trailer?
Re: Nioh 3 (PS5) - Superb Action Fronts a New Team Ninja Gem
Hard pass with the frame rate problems. There are too many other games out there for me, making skipping the games that have issues like that an easy choice.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Director Passes Comment on Ubisoft's Major Reshuffle
Considering how long the game has been in development, I'd argue that they haven't been very focused on the task at hand.
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Highguard?
I've never even heard of this game until now. But no, I have zero interest in it.
Re: These 11+ PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out Next Week (26th-1st February)

@Mintie Interesting! We call that doing the dishes where I live.

I threw up in my mouth a little while watching that. Revolting trailer.

I'll slopping call the AI slop whatever I slopping want.
Re: Fans Can't Believe How Much Sword and Fairy 4's Remake Looks Like Clair Obscur
Honestly, the UI looks more Trails inspired than E33. The rest is just more realistic art direction, which is not something that E33 is unique with.
Re: 'It Has the Power to Enrich the Creative World': Level-5 Boss All-In on Generative AI
One of the biggest falls from grace I've ever seen for a Japanese game developer. Just keeps getting worse and worse.

The damage is done at this point. Their games will be viewed under a microscope from this point forward, and for good reason.

Zero tolerance is definitely the best approach for this.
Re: Two Trails beyond the Horizon Demos Out Now, and One Is Exclusive to PS5, PS4

@Kienda What gamer doesn't know who John Romero is!? But yes, they should at least mention that he is a co-creator of Doom in the article.

Re: Mini Review: Old School Rally (PS5) - Don't Cut This Retro Rally Throwback

Definitely getting Neon Inferno. R-Type Delta is incredible, but I already have the PS1 version, so no need to get that one on my end.
Re: Highly Anticipated RPG Remake Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Confirmed for 2026 Release
This is an actual god-like sequel. The first game is great, the sequel is a masterpiece.

Re: Wreckreation (PS5) - Ambitious, Burnout-Inspired Racer Is a Near Miss
@aj21009 Agreed. I hate Burnout Paradise. The open world format ruins Burnout. Give me Burnout 3 or Burnout Revenge any day.
