Earlier this year, Konami released Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the classic stealth action game.
Despite some technical hiccups, the project has been very well received, and it's led many fans to wonder what could be next for the series.
We already know that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is in the works, which will collate several ports of the older games in the series, but what about modern takes on Kojima's beloved franchise?
Well, it sounds like one candidate that could be in consideration is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
In an interview with Real Sound, producer Noriaki Okamura has shown interest in revisiting the PS3-exclusive entry. (Translated quotes via Metal Gear Network.)
Asked about what's next for the team behind Delta, Okamura says they're "still in the stage of figuring out" what their next project is.
"We might work on another remake, or we might try creating something entirely new," Okamura says. "The Metal Gear series is basically a piece of video game history, it spans everything from pixel art to film-like presentation, so the ideal approach to remaking or representing each title is different. We don’t intend to apply the exact methodology we used for MGS Delta to every game. We want to consider the best approach for each one individually."
He goes on to say he's personally hoping for a remake of MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.
"The hardware of that era required some extremely unique design choices to get good 3D performance with the tech available, and MGS4 ended up with some pretty unusual code because of that… Bringing it over now would be a real challenge, I think."
For fans of the game, which is still only available on PS3, it's an encouraging sign.
The PS3's hardware architecture makes porting to other systems very difficult, a sentiment we've heard repeated many times in the past, so a remake of the game might actually be the best way to get it onto modern machines.
Fans are also hopeful that MGS4 will be included in the aforementioned Master Collection Vol. 2, though again, porting a PS3 game to other systems is tricky business.
What do you think? Would you like to see a Delta-style remake of MGS4? Tell us in the comments section below.

But isn't it going to be on vol. 2 of the collection? right...?
This is the only MGS game I’ve not played, because it’s so difficult to play without a PS3. I don’t care whether it is a port or full remake but please bring it back to life!!!
@Contimaloris Didn’t stop Delta from being made despite MGS3 existing in Vol. 1
I’d take both a collection addition and a remake!
I’d also like MGS: Twin Snakes to be added to the Gamecube app on Switch 2 or, better yet, a modern port to other platforms!
If it were up to me, remake MGS1 similar to Delta and release MGS4 on a Volume 2 collection along with Peace Walker.
I haven't played MGS4 in probably 15 years and I've only played a teensy bit of Peace Walker when it initially released.
I would be happy with MGS4 just being on VOL 2. but I definately wouldn't say no to a remake!
Sunliiiiiiiiiight!!
If you know, you know.
I'm actually one of the weirdos who liked 4 way better than part 3. I much prefer the entries of Solid Snake instead of Big Boss, and this was an amazing and perfect send off. Can't wait to dive in again when the 2nd collection releases.
An interesting experience, more experience than game.
Has alot of PlayStation references both visually and spoken so that's a full remake really
This makes me wonder - why does no one consider MGS4 a PS3 exclusive?
I'd rather someone else handle it honestly. Delta's performance is abysmal, making the old HD remaster the better experience.
More of a movie than a game. Still loved it though. Bring it on
I found 4 to be pretty disappointing. It didn’t really have the highs that 1 or 3 had.
Why dont they ask Naughty Dog how they made the ps3 uncharted collection on ps4?
There must be some easy way to convert and improve mgs4 like they did.
@Deadlyblack I was going to say…15 years?? It only came out 10 years ago!
Then I checked and it’s a 17 year old game lol :/
@Clytorial_Impact lol time can be a bit deceptive at times. Crazy when you think about it.
"The hardware of that era required some extremely unique design choices to get good 3D performance with the tech available, and MGS4 ended up with some pretty unusual code because of that… Bringing it over now would be a real challenge, I think."
For the love of sanity, then - please use a different team or engine to the Snake Eater Remake, or wait for PS6 even.
I never played the original MGS4, and would like to play a remake.
Lets hope "the team" have figured out the ps5 pro .
Can we hope for it to become real ?
MGS4 might be my least favorite entry. I'm kind of okay with it being stuck on PS3.
This was the game where, in retrospect, it became obvious that Hideo Kojima needed to be replaced.
The gameplay itself was fine but the story was a convoluted mess. And I dare anyone to tell me that they understood it the first time through.
I'm glad someone else is getting a shot tbh.
Don't see how it could be as good as the OG MGS4
Will lose alot of what makes it's ridiculous and my personal favourite mgs.
I'd like a remaster though
@nomither6
Everyone considers it a ps3 exclusive.
Even though I have a PS3 with this game, It would be nice to see a remaster port on PC, PS5, Series X and Switch 2 with a higher framerate and resolution. I would love to play this on a handheld.
I am in awe at how incredible this game still looks to this day on original hardware. That team was locked in.
@Jimid I hardly hear people mention it with the ps3’s exclusive lineup
But that entire film is already on YouTube???
@LifeGirl The single biggest selling point for MGS V, imo, was that the game was missing chapters. I haven't really cared to pay attention to the narrative since MGS3.
@Contimaloris That won't be a remake though, right? Just a port like the rest of them.
Arnold Schwarzenegger from Predator Do it! DO IT!
I can't even remember the gameplay in MGS4, only the long cutscenes, that felt like they would never end 😂
Would rather have an epic remake of the first game.
I'd love to do photoshoots with the Beauty and the Beast Unit again.
I doubt Konami will do justice with MGS 4 remake based on what they did with Delta. Heck, i don't think they can do a good remaster either looking at how they messed up Collection vol 1.
@LifeGirl Nah, nothing convoluted with MGS 4 story. I completely understood the story from my 1st playthrough.
And so far no one, i say it again NO ONE from Konami can do what Kojima and his team achieved with MGS series. So far no one from Konami have balls to create a new IP that as good as MGS either. What they did is just milking and messing up with Kojima's legacy.
It's the one Kojima title that I will happily describe as utterly terrible.
MGS4 Just doesnt make sense without playing and being invested in the world.
The entire premise of 4 is a throwback to everything what has happened.
So realistically theyve remade 3
Next should be MGS1 then 2 and then have MGS4.
Its like how Sony remastered uncharted 4 and shoved it on pc.
Uncharted 4 does nothing unless youve played 1 2 and 3.
Or remaking star wars episode 6 in 20 years without any mention or build up with episodes 4 and 5.
It just wont have the same impact at all
MGS4's MGO desperately needs a remake. Probably the most fun I've ever had playing online multiplayer.
I don't see a "remake" of Metal Gear Solid 4 making any sense at this point. The remake of MGS3: Delta works, because, similar to Silent Hill 2, it has a standalone story, where you don't need to have played previous parts to know the characters and understand key plot points. But MGS4 references all previous games including Metal Gear 1 & 2. Konami would have to at least remake MGS 1 & 2 first.
So in my opinion, it would be enough if it's "remastered" on the 2nd MGS Collection.
Man would love to experience the microwave part again 🥲
It's already been done.. I'm not sure what this guy is saying.. It was almost done a decade ago, but now you can run it on an emulator almost perfectly.. All they'd have to do are some tweaks that would be easier for an official team than the basement kids that have done what they've already done for mg4
Not without remaking 1 and 2 first.
Konami needs to remake from scratch both metal gear games that were released for the msx2 computer.
Metal Gear and Metal Gear: Solid Snake
@Contimaloris honestly if they can remake it i'd rather that , it looks decent but it would need a lot of work to port to current gen or future consoles , that you might as well redo the assets better.
