Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Elden Ring Nightreign?

Definitely a 7 for what i saw

I actually bought it over the weekend on impulse and so far its ok i guess. Have yet to face the first proper boss as every random i've partnered with has sucked and i suck at solo play as everything is balanced around a team of 3. That said i like the class system and the roguelite elements are pretty cool, also no fall damage is a novelty in itself.

8/9 I would say. Much more enjoyable as a part-based game. Even with randos though that experience varies.

I give it a 0. One point for every hour I spent playing it.

0/10 for bad performance and no PS5 Pro support

Not played it because I just don’t really co op.

But I can’t help feel that this game has just come out to no fanfare and isn’t really mentioned since it announced it sold well on release

Well if ithe score is on release then 6/10. The fact they have to release a patch to make single player actually fun is stupid. It should have been there from day one.

Tricky to rate a multiplayer focused game because everyone’s experience is gonna be different, but generally I would describe Nightreign as a game w really high high’s and really low low’s… perhaps averaging out to like a 6/10…. But potential to rise to 7-8/10 if this game receives good support/updates. There is definitely potential, to make this game greater…

I would give an objective score of 3/10 because I didn't play the game, generally don't like souls games but I did read that a lot of people find that single player mode was not good on this multiplayer title at launch.

I didn't vote since I didn't play it but it seems like an okay experience with friends. I just don't really look to Fromsoft for my multiplayer needs is all.

I played through most of Elden Ring at launch (Ranni ending) but found it exasperating and poorly balanced across builds and abilities vs. Dark Souls/BB. I was probably too stubborn and should have used the Rennala thingy to respec to something cheesier. But I'm not interested in the DLC or Nightreign as a result.

I'm hoping they go back to classic Souls-style maps someday (probably in vain)

@crackeastwood Elden Ring's launch performance on PC still makes me shudder. Much, much, much worse than Oblivion Remastered or Monster Hunter Wilds

Agree with the automatic 1 due to serious performance issues (cant give a 0).

I see the point someone else raised on the review - having seen the DF analysis the Pro runs at a significantly better framerate (and a somewhat better image quality due to dynamic res) - would you want a Pro mode running at the same performance levels as base PS5? In this case the Pro boosting performance without a specific enhanced mode is probably the best outcome.

I have been playing Nightreign on PC + Dualsense with 2018 hardware and it has ran flawlessly for the 30+ hours spent playing with a friend and rotating random thirds.

Completed all eight (8) final bosses but I keep coming back to work through each character's remembrances (their story). Over 30 hours played and I've played five of the eight classes.

Overall, it's been a ton of fun! Looking forward to the DLC in Q4 2025.

I agree with Aaron Bayne's inclination from his review here on PushSquare. That is, Nightreign is a "finishable multiplayer game [and that] is a good thing".

The appealing thing about FromSoft games is the bizarre, alien, lonely worlds you stumble through without knowing what's to come or where you're headed. A game as formulaic and gamey as this kinda kills that vibe.

@Rich33 a dedicated Pro patch would allow the game to better tap into the extra power of the Pro not to mention they cab use PSSR to gain ever more performance

Very solid 7 for me. It certainly has its flaws, but I think there is a very fun gameplay loop for those who are willing to take the time with it.

It’s 7 after 40 hours for me, but no more than that. The game still feels undercooked and lacking content.

Maybe. Dont get me wrong, the Pro is an amazing console in the hands of decent devs, and Im really glad I got mine at launch.

You probably already know this, but PSSR actually makes fps lower (as it takes time up during each frame), until you optimise by lowering pre upscaler resolution in order to gain that back, and then more (as your pre upscaler res can be much lower to acheive the same visual quality).

They couldn't even be bothered to / were not capable of correctly optimising the base PS5 version which operates at a low of 1440.

Not for me. Beyond that though, it's also not what I want to see with successful single player IPS. The idea of trying to capitalize on those ips by slapping them into a liveservice/multiplayer scheme is just not going to often work.

Sony wasted the entire generation and billions in resources doing this and produced almost nothing in return for that greed driven plan, and they aren't done seeing the rock bottom of that trajectory yet.

The last thing most Fromsoft fans want is for them to do the same, rather than using their success to evolve, expand, improve rexperiemnt with new IPS for those schemes; or at least make the effort modernize their own aging and technically inferior engine and optomization protocols.

I don't mind them trying something new. Yeah I don't really believe that's what this was I believe they saw the sales numbers and the popularity of a huge breakthrough hit IP and decided to try to monetize it further by making a farely bare bones system as easy as possible by asset flipping. Best selling millions of copies of another product with the IP name yet with far less invested in it financially so the payoff ends up being huge.

@guacguacboo While I do get the sentiment, I can't help but feel that if youre playing Nightreign specifically to do single player, then you picked it up for the wrong reason!

Tried it but didn't like it.

I enjoy it but man is it stressful. Plus it is hard to keep up with the other players.

With a complete and almost utter disdain for each and every From Software game's difficulty, I still can see it's brilliance. Not exactly a "relaxing" game, but thrilling nonetheless.

Calling this soulless monstrosity "souls game" is the biggest undeserved compliment in our millenium.
It is the among the most shameless cash grab attempts in the modern gaming history.
I instantly hardpassed on the announcement day.
It was revealed as it is going to be a pure disgrace and it has become one...

i had a sour taste in my mouth about this game before it released and holy...... was I wrong. I am so addicted to this game its unreal, if you have a couple friends and enjoy fromsoft games, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Almost unplayable.
