Longstanding MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is completely free to play right now on PS5 and PS4.
The free period, which lasts until Tuesday the 12th August, is down to QuakeCon 2025 taking place over the weekend.
To be clear though, this limited time deal only covers the base game. That is to say, none of The Elder Scrolls Online's many expansions are included — but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Indeed, the base release remains an absolutely gigantic experience, featuring a full story-driven campaign across numerous large regions (which are also fit to burst with optional side quests, dungeons, and challenges).
Of course, we are talking about a title that's been out for over ten years at this point, and so many of you reading this will have already sampled the base game. Still, if you're yet to give the commonly named ESO a shot, then we'd recommend hitting that download button — especially if you can persuade a friend or two to tag along.
It's also worth mentioning that if you've played ESO through one of these free events before, you can actually pick up where you left off.
