Haven't most of these Xmas deals been on sale recently? Seems like they have just knocked a couple of extra quid off an older set of sales and just rebranded it as an Xmas sale, touch lazy me thinks. Or perhaps i am just getting a bit Scroogie??
Tiny, tiny bit disappointing but i'll pick up Tales of Zestiria for 12 quid and Life is Strange for a fiver.
Feels like the newer games were prioritised over potentially larger discounts. Maybe they sold less than expected so developers are eager to discount quick this year?
Really wish i had bought PES. But my buddy convinced me to get 17. AI is atrocious at times, even on lower difficulties. They'll have one or two shots and they go in. You have 15/20 and might not get one in lol PES18 for sure next year!
Yeah, kinda makes sense for MS to pick up another month. I bought a PS4 slim but only because i didn't have a base PS4 and all the stores were selling the slim cheaper than the original PS4 where i live (Vietnam). Pro sales will almost certainly push them back into the lead soon enough.
Tracking all this sales data is going to be way more complicated when there are 6/7 different versions of MS/PS consoles to track. Good luck with that, Pushsquare!
@DerMeister I'm in the same boat. Don't have a PS4 and no 4k TV so my choice is original solus or the slim. I live in Vietnam which limits my choice a wee bit, but can i ask why you are not interested in the Slim? I was tempted to get this if indeed its a bit quieter and smaller.
@MadAussieBloke I hear you! In Vietnam, so it's going to be a well early start for me. But not often these things come around so I don't mind an early start now and again! Wish i could get my hands on 2 bacon and egg toasties, mind!
Keep saying it and saying it...i'll believe this title is released when it's sat in my disk tray and only then. I still don't think this will be out in 2016. In fact, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was 2018.
Compatible controller....revised controller (from the article talking about 5 PS4K reveal features). Maybe this is the Trinity leak thingy that cropped up the other day. A revised controller that works with PC for all those who want to game on PC with a DS4.
Interesting. Would love to play some of my steam games with a DS4. Looking at you Half Life
Erm...i'll keep my money until you can tell me then??
Money in my bank (earning interest) is much better than your bank (earning interest) while you wait to actually tell people what they are getting. You know, in order for us to make an informed decision whether or not it's worth the price!
I swear, does this shizz only seem happen in video game land??
I'll get the game, but f me, this stuff is getting a wee bit out of hand.
@themcnoisy Yeah... good points. I was tying a similar post (just below) as you were. I'm genuinely curious about what REASONABLE offerings Sony should undertake, should they actually drop support for PS3 and Vita.
So, do we just assume that dropping PS Plus free games for PS3 and Vita will equate to Sony just giving us 6 PS4 games per month?
I think it's a 'careful what you wish for' scenario. It's all well and good us asking for more PS4 games, but will they end up being the indies that people seem to rip on so much every month? I mean, really...what model do people want to see?
Looks great but 32.99GBP seems little steep to me. But saying that, it is SE we're talking about here so I shouldn't really be surprised. By which i mean a top publisher/developer as opposed to a smaller, independent studio.
@get2sammyb Got to disagree there, Sammy. Some people have bought the game, expansion 1, expansion two and invested a shed load of time in playing the game. They then get told they can't finish Destiny 1 without buying another console? Seems odd to me. If there is only one more expansion before Destiny 2 comes out, why not just wait until 2 is released to cut off the older systems? Seems harsh.
But as other posters have mentioned, it might well be simply a numbers game here whereby the current last gen user base can't justify the cost (read as profitability) of developing for last gen and current gen.
@themcnoisy It's usually so they (Codemasters) can get a handle on which cars perform better because at the start of the season because at that points, no-one really knows. In pre-season testing we get a rough idea, but it's usually by the time the European races start (happening now) that we get an idea of where the whole 'field' stands.
So for example, no one really expected Red Bull to be winning races. People thought Mercedes would be streets ahead with Ferrari in second. But RB has made a lot of improvements to their engine. Same as McLaren.
Might be some image rights too although i have no idea about that stuff.
Publishers Like EA Will Die Out Sooner or Later, Reckons General Spiller
On a more serious note, I think it is great that consoles are continually adapting and selling well each generation. As long as the innovations are meaningful and relevant to the consumer base, there will always be enough people willing to drop 3/4/5 hundred quid for the hardware. And as long as there's enough people asking for them, the manufacturers will keep providing them. As for people knocking annual updates, consider the fact that for some people, these are the games they spend most of their time on. If i spend 40 quid on a Fifa or a Madden game and get 400+ hours play over a year, surely that is value for money, regardless of whether you think the game is parp or not! It's just people enjoying the games they like. Sociology 101 - don't judge the world by your own criteria!
@SuperSilverback How you finding it? I'm toying with the idea of getting it on PS3 rather than waiting until I get a PS4 again. If you have played the other Tales of games, which does it resemble the most?
Agreed that this one is looking really interesting!
13 hours sounds pretty decent to me. Would like to see some new game + elements involved to give reasons for people who feel its a little short to perhaps play it again. Then we get a 26 hour campaign
Maybe something like Resident Evil's system of unlocking items/weapons or 'Tales of' series use of grade to unlock perks to use for higher difficulties. Would certainly add some longevity to the game.
I have zero problems with annual releases as they often can be the games I spend most time with. Take a Fifa or F1 game (hell, even CoD)....I put in hundreds of hours over the course of a year into some of these games. So divide those hundreds of hours by 40 quid and I get unbelievably good value for [relatively little] money. Compare that to the cost of 90 minutes of, say, Premier League football. Yeah, exactly.
It's all about personal preference and what you get out of it. If it works for you, more power to you. If it's ain't your thing, just ignore it. Sure there are a lot of LEGO games out there, but there wouldn't be many out there if people didn't buy them and see them as good value.
That said, i'm not a parent so maybe they have a different opinion on the matter
@Gamer83 Absolutely. It's capitalism in its truest form. Top dog will always try and use its position to hammer home the advantage further to profit further. Similarly, the underdog will always be more consumer friendly to encourage sales and goodwill [see MS now doing all the things gamers actually like]. But when a company gets on top, it's like a button is pushed and the company forgets everything got them there in the first place. It's bonkers. Fortunately, we have fairly healthy competition in the gaming industry...and the internet to let them know they are being arrogant c....., erm, very silly.
Makes sense to me. Particularly with Sony getting into the VR arena. "Interactive entertainment", at least to my mind, nicely sums up what Sony provide [in the gaming world].
@Hego Took me a little while to warm up to the game (i'm new to strategy RPGs) but now i'm hooked. I find the plot intriguing, characters engaging and the game play is pretty dynamic too. I'm 22 hours in and I feel like there is a hell of a long way to go and it really is turning into a gem of a game for me. You already bought it, so if i were you, i'd just jump in! Like you, i'm excited there is another game to pick up once I finish with this one.
@Hego Yeah, that's kinda how I feel. There so many games to choose from when you take into account PS1 and PSP titles. In fact, my memory card currently has Silent Hill, Trails in the Sky and Suikoden 1 and 2 on it as well as having cartridges for FFX, YS Memories and Tales of. There's plenty of life in this console from my point of view and that's not taking into account all the games yet to be released. First party support [or future lack of] really doesn't bother me one little bit.
Edit: OT, most looking forward to Cosmic Star Heroine, HLDrifter and Digimon from this last. Good times to be had.
@SonyInfinity Exactly. We can say 10 years in development all we want but it was completely overhauled. So this version hasn't been in development all that long and these games take freaking ages it seems. Said it before, i'll be amazed if it sees 2016, especially being as this gen is the gen for delays. 2017 sounds about right to me. Not that i'm a gaming expert or developer that is
I'd be amazed if this game came out in 2017 let alone next year! Seems like they are making a huge open world with stellar looking graphics and that stuff takes time. A lot of time. I wouldn't get your hopes up if I were you and let the hype train pass you by. Works for me
@Scollurio Totally agree. It's actually a little cheaper than I thought it would retail at.
If there are some compelling launch titles then i'll certainly consider picking one up. Would love to see some kind of racing game with Morpheus support. That would be a blast.
Just got on a 12 hour bus ride across Thailand. But Tales of Hearts R and Suikoden 1 will make the time fly by. This is why Vita is just so darn loveable!
@B3ND3R Yeah, totally with you on that sentiment. This is one of those games where I'll certainly pre-order (nod to your article the other day @get2sammyb) and get the best possible special edition. Release date in the West cannot come soon enough!
@Wesker Oh I read that part. It's just that cross buy can mean PS3 and PS4 so wondered if cross buy with Vita had been confirmed. Perfect title for Vita if you ask me. Fortunately I have YS Memories, Suikoden 1 and 2, FF10 & 10-2 and Tales of Hearts still to play.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah, Transistor is an excellent game. Bought it when it came out as I wanted to support Supergiant Games but only finished it recently due to the back log. Battle system was an awesome blend of real time, turn based and strategy. Really good.
See, that's glass half empty right there Sammy. I'm actually looking forward to the game now having the opportunity to develop into a first person shooter packed with day one DLC, microtransactions, product placement and some generic and loose tie in with the NFL.
I jest of course but the game somehow doesn't have the same kind of allure now that Kojima isn't involved in a lead role.

Tales of anything please! Vesperia is my favourite so would love a crack at the game on PS3/4. Really would take anything Tales related and some love for Vita would be an added bonus.
