Anyone else getting really tired of these LEGO games? Our understanding is that they sell exceptionally well, but gamers rag on Call of Duty's annual release schedule – when there tends to be three or four Mega Bloks-esque escapades crammed into a 12 month period. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the latest to roll out of TT Games' production line, and will be released in June. No, you're not wrong, LEGO Marvel's Avengers did deploy last week.
The new game hasn't technically been announced yet, but instead has leaked all over the shop. It will apparently bridge the story between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens – because Star Wars aficionados always dreamed of learning about key plot points in LEGO format. There'll also be a couple of new mechanics thrown in for good measure, including a cover shooter system imaginatively named Blaster Battles. How long did it take to dream that one up?
Nothing against LEGO, nothing against Star Wars – but when's too much too much? Collect the golden bricks in the comments section below.

well I've avoided Lego games since LEGO Harry Potter 2 so i might actually pick this one up
I really enjoy the lego games they have a sense of fun about them and do not take themselves too seriously.
Anyone that's okay with the regularity of LEGO releases is henceforth not allowed to complain about annual series like Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, and FIFA.
It's one thing enjoying the games, but there are simply too many of them.
The last couple in particular have been fantastic. The humor, especially the adult nudge, nudge, wink wink stuff is great.
I never complain about anything have an annual release schedule. I like and have played a lot of the Lego games recently and have enjoyed them a lot. It has to be subject matter I care about but they have done a good job hitting my wallet lately and Star Wars shall be no different. Personally I couldn't care less on release schedules of a particular item, except Game of Thrones...come on Martin get the book out already!
I'm hoping it will be open world! Open world Star Wars game would be great! It should include all the movies/characters as well!
@get2sammyb I really enjoy creed, Cod and FIFA. They do exactly what they say on ttin.
Personally Lego games are one of my 'guilty pleasures'. I can't say I have bought all of them, but certainly a lot. I really enjoy the humour of them and often pay homage to the source material. Being a fan of the 'movies' or the 'universe' in the case of DC/Marvel Lego releases helps too. Its great to see iconic scenes recreated in Lego with the Lego Humour too.
Personally I don't think there is a 'limit' to the amount of Lego games we could have. There is still a LOT of potential movies that could be given the Lego treatment. I certainly don't complain about the annual CoD (I have bought all since CoD4 and everyone since MW2 on release - as well as all the DLC) but I also know each has a different development team and 'different' feel too. Assassins Creed doesn't bother me either although the last I enjoyed was AC2 but each of late has had a very different time-period. I don't buy Fifa (or other annual 'sports' game) because they don't appeal. I may personally feel that the updated 'stats' for the season could be 'patched' into the game rather than releasing a new game every year but I can't deny that those people who play them, really like and look forward to each new release (I expect we will get 2 Fifas this year with the Euro 2016 version...)
For me, these are the 'staples' - the games that can often be relied on by the gaming community as well as the Publishers to deliver a specific experience and 'profit' so more 'unique' and potentially risky ventures are invested in.
I've always heard great things, but the sheer volume of these games has always scared me away and when they are on sale the lack of online co-op always is the deciding factor.
@get2sammyb It was worth it for the game to come out just for your BB-8 reference.
We already played this in Disney Infinity. And I've been complaining about the nearly 3 per year Lego games for a couple of years now, almost as much as I've been complaining about the lack of a Lego Hobbit 3. And I'm sure there will be another Lego game announced for the holiday, maybe all 3 Ghostbusters films?
At some point the duplication between Lego, Lego Dimensions and Disney Infinity needs to be resolved. I bought Lego The Movie The Video game for $9.98 at Target on clearance Thursday and now I feel like I can hold off on Lego Dimensions even longer. (Also picked up KOA:Reckoning for $9.98 to fill in time between finishing XCX and starting FFXV.)
@get2sammyb
C'mon, if we remove the Lego games we will only see Sports, Shooters and Minecraft in the Western Top 10
With that said, this is a cash cow ready to be milked, and totally dependent on the hottest license. Proof of this is that Lego City Undercover never got a sequel, so it is not because of lack of manpower. @rjejr would say the game needs a discount, and at this point I agree. It has been a long time, and if that ensures us another one I am good for it.
I do not think people moan about the release schedule of COD series you are getting a differet type of game each year which is normally set in a cycle. The clamour for a new COD and hype behind it is normally quite big. Assassins Creed I look forward to each year it is always set in a different time and country with a core gameplay people enjoy.
I can not comment on the sports franchises as I do not buy them.
I have zero problems with annual releases as they often can be the games I spend most time with. Take a Fifa or F1 game (hell, even CoD)....I put in hundreds of hours over the course of a year into some of these games. So divide those hundreds of hours by 40 quid and I get unbelievably good value for [relatively little] money. Compare that to the cost of 90 minutes of, say, Premier League football. Yeah, exactly.
It's all about personal preference and what you get out of it. If it works for you, more power to you. If it's ain't your thing, just ignore it. Sure there are a lot of LEGO games out there, but there wouldn't be many out there if people didn't buy them and see them as good value.
That said, i'm not a parent so maybe they have a different opinion on the matter
@get2sammyb Finally, someone else mentions horrific release rate of Lego games. I honesty can't remember anyone really giving the Lego series its just dues in that area. Lersonally, I think the last good Lego game was the first Lego Batman, because they wore out their welcome after that release. I don't even want to know how many have released since then.
Tired????
I've been waiting on a new LEGO Star Wars game for YEARS.
The development cycle of a lego game is 3 months, and Tt has a month break after each lego game so that's why there are 3 lego games each year. And I'm buying them all :3
BTW no one is forcing you to buy all the LEGO games just as I don't feel forced to buy yearly AC or COD releases.
I look forward to this and yes there are too many Lego games but I rarely buy them now and when I do they always seem to be fun! Can't not buy Lego Star Wars, it's been too long.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Recent LEGO games have been disappointing but I can't wait for this, I loved the original LEGO Star Wars games, and I hope this is the same quality
@get2sammyb I would say it's slightly different with Lego games. I've only played the Marvel and Star Wars ones, because those are the only brands that interest me. I've never played Jurassic World, Harry Potter, Batman, etc. Whereas with CoD, if you want to play online with a decent playerbase, you have to buy the most recent game.
What a depressing article the lego games are great I've been hoping for a star wars one on next gen plus me kid loves it all so if any adults are getting fed up of it then grow up and realise alot of kids get the lego games and it'd be silly if the latest star wars movie wasn't made into a lego game lighten up
Played a fair number of the Lego games and while I can understand the appeal of some of them, they're mostly just 'meh.' Even Lego City Undercover which got hype because it was supposed to be one of the first big Wii U games isn't that special.
Yeah this has become insane the games are enjoyable but the level of saturation of these games will scare people off since they'll be digging through 50 titles.
What, they couldn't at least wait until the other movies came out?
@BigDaddyT0101 They had online in the first Lego Star Wars games, but not enough people played it that way. No reason to put money into something that has proven to not be a feature many use, though this was about 10 years ago.
I will NEVER get tired of playing a Lego game. I only purchase those I am interested in though. I have been playing Lego games since I was about 8 years old when I received Lego Stars the complete first saga on PlayStation 2. I haven't bought Lego Avengers yet seeing as though I am busy completing other games but when it does go on sale I will be buying it. As long as Lego continues pushing out Lego Star Wars & Lego Marvel I am totally fine with this.
We just need Lego games to venture into anime.
