Not to mention that the ''superiority'' they have in multiplatform games is diminishing as years go by. @BarefootBowser I can't answer that since i don't have a crystall ball (no one here does), and that is why i stated my opinion that a ''certain'' amount of people will abandon Playstation platform instead of stating X-Y ammount.
But what i can gurantee you, and i don't need a crystall ball for that, is that don't expect Playstation 5 to sell as much as Playstation 4 did year-to-year after this.
Well this (AGAIN) somewhat makes me feel like an fool after being a 20+ years Playstation user/costumer and viewing SONY-s waving their ''Only on Playstation'' flag in front of everyone. Let me explain how i view things.
First the good news, more people will get to play the game and Sony will get a short boost to the profits.
Now lets take a look at the potential bad news.First i don’t trust this will be the last first-party-studio exclusive coming to PC, despite Mr. Hulst statements. There have been numerous sources already stating that (for example Dreams).
And no this will certainly not make PC folk buy a PS5, especially cuz waiting 2-3 years is nothing when you have hundreds of other games.
I can say with confidence, that they will start losing a certain ammount of Playstation costumers (possibly myself included), and they will start losing trust from Playstation costumers that are sticking to the platform.
Long term, i see this as a negative to the Playstation and console-gaming in general....

@BAMozzy Bit surprised by some statements, considering SONY has been quite open in some regards of the B/C.
''MS are in a different position and appear to be going a different route to Sony.''
We currently have no info on the course the SONY is taking for Playstation 5 generation. So we can't rightly say one is doing something different from the other, especially when one party is silent.
''Sony seem more traditional and rely on people buying their console to sell them games. Offering BC doesn't mean that they will 'enhance' PS4 games and that could cut out a chunk of revenue too - selling remasters - especially if the games are enhanced.''
Playstation Now is certainly not traditional (tho i detest that sort of thing, including that GamePass). And we already have indications of what we could expect from B/C with the released patent by Sony ''Remastering by Emulation''. Which description mentions things like; adding 4K, HDR, better textures {LOD}, bigger draw distance/NPC count, higher FPS and more on an emulator level without touching the actual game code.
Sounds familiar doesn't it?
Hell it was even mentioned numerous times about closed door event in early 2019, Las Vegas held by SONY, that showcased games like RDR2, Spiderman (which we already saw footage of showcasing Raytracing and faster loading times), and one unknown game. All games showcased 60FPS unlocked, Native 4K along other things like overall higher graphical fidelity. All of that was a showcase of a WIP(at the time) project/patent that will be implemented in form of Playstation 5.
And that will undoubtedly be used to counter the ''smart delivery'' of Microsoft side of things.
The rest of the statements you made pretty much is answered by the above.
@nessisonett Well it can't be much worse than Netflix's Witcher.
Still can't wrap my head around how some people claim it's one of the best shows out there. But fanboys would be fanboys.
So far the only good game-movie/TV-show is Netflix's Castlevania. They took a certain amount of artistic liberties, but still managed to respect the source material.
Now the question remains, will HBOs TLOU manage to pull that off. I'm quite pessimistic myself, tho if it's half as good as Chernobyl show, it will be a must watch.
PS plus price-wise, i'm not too happy (considering we have been receiving only 2 games instead of 4 with PS3, for quite some time now...i don't count VR games since i don't own nor plan to have one).
Really think Uncharted needs a very long rest. At very least until late next gen...
Naughty Dog should focus on finishing up TLOU 2, and after that they should start a new IP. Preferably a Sci-Fi/Action-Adventure game.
And yea, i still haven't forgoten that old concept art from one of the ND artists...
To add, if they do make a new Uncharted game series, i hope Chloe will take the lead as the main protagonist. Lost Legacy has proven that she can do heck of a job...plus we all ''miss that ass''.
It should be a free upgrade for the folk that already own a PS4 version of the game... otherwise it's not a proper B/C and just another sleezy way to milk old games just like the remasters were mostly used...
@Wazeddie22 There will come a point where the graphics will be CGI like, but the point is when that does come, developers main focus will be better physics and dynamics.
@Nintyfan ''Why? Because a game from 2017 will release on PC around the time the new console will release with the sequel as an exclusive? ''
First neither you nor i know for certain, if the sequel will remain an exclusive.Second if it does remain exclusive, it won't be for long just like HZD, and that is a time i'm willing to wait.
'' I'm as pro-exclusive as a gamer can be and understand the necessities of them, but a 3 year old title going multi when the sequel is coming has no weight.''
It has a lot of weight in purchase decision, especially when that very same game was marketed as an exlcusive ''Playstation only'' just like other first party games. Some people will feel cheated by that, since they bought their Playstations MAINLY for exclusives and SECONDARY for multiplats. If they feel cheated they start losing trust in SONY, trust means a lot and that does effect ones purchase in the future.Especially when they know other ''exclusives'' will also be available on a platform that they could have spent those 450$ instead.
And trust me after a while other first party games will follow suit.
''Remember kids, exclusives are on one single platform ONLY and are the reason to own said platform as it adds value. Regardless of the second platform (or more in some cases), once it leaves the initial platform it is no longer exclusive and therefore no longer adds value to the original platform.''
In other news kids, water is wet.
''A sequel that is exclusive however, that's the prize.''
Again neither you nor i know whether or not the sequel will remain exclusive, tho if other games like HZD follow suit, it is very likely that it will also come to PC after some time. Waiting 3-4 years is nothing.
Back to your original question why do i consider skipping Playstation 5 or consoles in general after this. Cuz it is financially better for me to skip them? Hell 4 of my old friends that have been gaming with me on Playstation brand since 1999 are considering doing the same, the only thing keeping us from going FULL PC were the exclusive games. The graphics and modding were never our true interest, but playing those games with those will bring best possible experiance for those games (something that was only possible on Playstation brand so far) plus the free online will be a welcome change non-than-less.
@ClanPsi Maybe some people have higher apreciation towards their purchase decision or their money in general?
For example some people genuinely bought Playstation 4 MAINLY because of those exclusives with the mindset of having the best experiance possible on that platform.
I mean i certainly will consider saving those 500+ $ to upgrade my PC instead, even if it means waiting 3+ years for the games to come (especially if we are talking about singleplayer games).
@JayDub It's not ONLY about whether or not will they take away the incentive for buying the consoles, it's also expressing the concerns for console gaming in general and the first party games quality going downwards.
@Flaming_Kaiser Not only will they be digital, but also most of it will go to streaming.
Which makes me wonder, when the power gap is gone i do wonder what gamers will argue about? Console vs PC wars will certainly be gone that is for sure.
As for going retro, it is possible i will do the same.
@Shepard93n7 Extremely dissapointed by peoples reaction on twitter about this sorry mess, specifically dissapointed with Playstation fanbase (or to be precise, fanboys).
I'm all for expressing consumer-displeasure (rightfully so, if SONY heads in Microsoft direction of things) or ocasional console war here, BUT all should be done in more less civil matter.
Insulting SONY developers, PR people and general staff...and even threataning them is a line no one should cross and it is downright shamefull.
People need to make peace with things to come. It is what it is.
Nothing people do or say will change things. If SONY plans to bring exclusives to PC, so be it. It's not the end of the world.
Will it diminish the value of Playstation console and make a number of people skip Playstation 5? Absolutely.
Can we in the future expect lower quality games from the first party devs since there is less need/demand to sell consoles? It is possible.
But lets be real here people, most of us spend our time playing multiplatform games anyways.
''by doing that they can make people interested in PS5 and still gain additional money on PC sales. Personally in this scenario I would definitely buy PS5 day one.''
Trust me, if games will be expected to release eventually on PC, very few PC gamers will be interested in buying PS5.
