I hope the success of recent turn based games makes sure it stays turn based. Because I had a worry a while back that they were heading in a new direction.

@sanderson72 still, you can get one for £420 now with astrobot included (£380 with the correct cashback site). What's astrobot about £50 to buy...So £330-370 minus the game cost for a brand new slim one today vs your £344 used fat model. It's very comparable. I'm guessing the saving hundreds was a bit of hyperbole but yeah they're still cheap new until they potentially go up soon.

I don't think my PS5 has ever shut down from overheating and I have a warm house naturally without air con. 12+ straight hours of use at times. And I've had 3 of them. So I'm not sure where this "terrible cooling system" is

@sanderson72 last i checked it was cheaper to buy a brand new one than buy a used one from CEX so dunno where you're getting the savings hundreds 😂

@Max_the_German just about the choice. I have gamepass too and the selection is miles better on PS. But of course we don't get the day ones. Or many of them.

Isn't cheap at all. EE have the console with astrobot included for £419. And depending on which cashback site you use that's up to £42 cashback. Even with paying full price for PS premium that's £620-660 with a game included. And people should be buying PS premium when it's 25% off every year. So best price in a few weeks (days of play) would be be £470 with a years premium and Astrobot

@Matroska yeah but on 8 and 16 bit you couldn't really tell much. It's the camera panning where you notice the sluggishness of the frames. And that's (mostly) newer games. I can go now and play any old 2D game and I probably couldn't tell you if it was 30 or 60 fps.

@PlatinumMikey a lot were but the open world ones where you actually panned the camera about seemed to run at 30 (GTA etc). So I didn't know any different back then.

Still hoping for a higher frame rate mode. 30 fps in 2026/27 is criminal. Other games said 60 fps wasn't possible and a 60 fps patch came later. And Rockstar are literal wizards so who knows. Maybe a 40 fps brute force with PSSR. 50% better frame time would feel miles better
But for anyone who says its unplayable. We all enjoyed games for years or even decades at 30 fps. Sure it'll feel sluggish to start but you'll get used to it fast enough.

These stats are always made to look at bad as possible for some reason like they want physical abolishing. Whilst 4% does look terrible, if it's total video game spending, gamepass and PS plus will skew this, DLC, microtransactions, and it won't take into account the amount buying second hand games. On day one games, it's probably still very close to 50% physical

@Overmind you're in the tiny majority for sure there. If you didnt like it fine but to suggest that's the consensus. The vast majority found rebirth outstanding. Reasons why it was on the GOTY list

Anyone who thinks it's awful is quite frankly an idiot or only played about 2 hours. Currently sitting at 8.8 by the user score. That shows how good it is as not many get rated that high

@Dodoo yeah but you can buy it on Internet free credit with many different outlets and get to keep the console at the end.

That rental in the UK is genuinely one of the stupidest things I've seen. Why anyone would rent a console for 36 months which ends up being more expensive than the actual console then have to give it back is beyond me.

@SMJ depends on the game tbh. Some are that night and day it's like moving to next gen. And some are barely even noticeable

Thank God. The 30 fps was so jarring in hideout after playing at 60. And man where was that horse auto follow when I unlocked every viewpoint

As much as I love the FF7 remake I don't want a full remake. Just update it graphically and I'll be good

@dskatter well they are aren't they? 60k peak users compared to MH wilds with 1.4 million. That's horrendous if there wasn't a way to explain it

@dskatter it's not an indicator, just saying why steam sales are tiny. The PS one is decent though

@dskatter ....that's literally why the player count is so low on steam. Who's paying £60 for shadows on steam when you can pay 15 to play it? All the players are doing that. That's why they have to say 3 million players or whatever the number was and its not telling at all because of that

Don't know why people are thinking something dodgy is going on. The narrative all week is how terribly it's done. So obviously they will keep posting positive news because the skeptics will comment saying whatever. All about traffic

But it was a failure apparently 😂 all things considered it's done the best in the series. Great game and shows ubisoft actually put a bit of effort in

@heavyartillery56 probably because of the price. I bought it on PS rather than Steam simply because it's cheaper. And you don't even own it on Steam.

Not a single person on this planet is playing that in 4x frame gen to get 350 when you could play it 4K/120 and it be stunning

@Bez87 I didn't think PSSR had anything to do with FSR as it was developed by Sony and AMD developed FSR, it seems like it's different tech. Unless you're meaning that they're all lumped together, DLSS, FSR and PSSR as upscaling. In any case given it was itineration 1 of PSSR it's doing really well. It's taken until FSR 4.0 for it to be surpassed

Honestly I'd rather see what PSSR has to offer in 3 years. FSR has been going over 3 years and PSSR seems to have the edge and it's in its infancy. Can only imagine what it'll be like in time.

@Haggis555 games are too power hungry now. Even a €2000 PC struggles with 4K/60 in some games so a €400 console has no chance

@OldGamer999 I find it pretty noticeable tbh at 40. 50% more frames is always good. It's playable

@Porco it doesn't suck though. It's an awesome device. Play your PS games anywhere in the world? Dunno how people think something like that could suck

@Kienda remote play is sketchy but streaming changed the device completely. Even more so when you'll be able to play your own library

@get2sammyb in fairness a lot of people's opinion changed after the cloud streaming. That was a massive boost to the product. Even more so once it comes out of Beta
