Having got the platinum trophy, am I disappointed the games getting even better now I'm done with it? Nope. I'm still glad I was there day one and seeing it evolve. It was an outstanding experience
@SuplexingTrains you may have seen it but check out the memoria project on YouTube. Thats how the remake should be IMO. No grand multipart decade project. Just a simple graphical rework and same combat system. Or akin to the dragon quest HD remakes.
Looking forward to this a lot. The 2nd one is still in my top 5 best looking games ever but it struggled on the base PS5. Now the Pro is here it should run great
It could be 150 and it'd sell more day one than anything this year. But it was never going to be more than 70 they want numbers on it to try and sell shark cards.
Still the best looking PS2 game for me. When Square used to care aboit being at the pinnacle of graphics. I've never been able to pick between 7 and 10 as my favourite
@Vladspartan why would digital Foundry care about selling PS5 Pros? It's not really BS, naturally on a much stronger console it'll run a lot better. Not sure where the BS would be there
@PeteyPiranha what are you playing on what screen? Perhaps it was beforehand but after the PSSR2 update it's transformative. It's like the jump between PS4 and PS5.
@Flaming_Kaiser still a point though. Look at starfield. That's rated higher than CD and there isn't a single thing it does better and it's absolutely littered with bugs. This is one of the most complete and fun $70 games I've played this generation.
@Frmknst genuinely interested to know what all these bugs you saw in 2 hours were. I've been playing since day one, 130 hours in and ive seen 2 bugs, total. It's running practically flawlessly
@StitchJones call out nonsense when i see it that's all. It's worth every bit of hype and more. Devs like these should be championed. Gaming would be so much better if everyone was this way.
@StitchJones except it wasnt a broken game, was it? Ive experience 2 crashes on over 120 hours of gameplay. And every single quest has run out perfectly Games like skyrim scored 95+ were broken beyond belief. Even today its still broken ππ theyre fixing and improving a game multiple times bigger than skyrim within a few days so yes ill praise them. And most of the additions are QOL and actual player suggestions. When does that happen? But you'd know if you'd actually played it
I find it crazy the more work they put in, and it must be a hell of a lot to do all this so fast, and the better theyre making the game, the more people are saying it wasn't ready and insulting everything. They can't win π
@Fillem i mean it was, ive been having. A great time since the first day. 2 crashes in 120 hours. It was already a 'ready' game. It's just been polished into an outstanding experience in a few weeks, simply because they're doing what no one does and actually doing what players say. And ultra quick
@Fartingale unfinished π this game has 10x the content of most games and was a great experience day one. Theyre actively reading comments and implementing player suggestions within days. Which ive never seen in decades of gaming. Other devs would have left the game as is or took 6 months to implenment their own poor changes. They should be praised beyond belief.
Not every game needs a custom character. Ive changed my guys hairstyle and coloured it and that's all it needs to be honest. With that anf the great looking armours why do you need a custom?
6th year into tbe new gen and we don't have anything. So yeah it would have been nice. Doesnt have to be drake there's plenty of characters to tap into. Sully is the prime one. UC4 was already stunning on PS4 Nd looks better than most games now. Cant imagine how a new entry would look on the Pro
Imagine this being open world and having bad exploration and story and getting a 7, and CD being open world and having outstanding exploration and a bad story and getting a 6 π
Well deserved it's an outstanding experience and one of the best games I've played in the last 5 years. Still confuses me how a game can be marked down for a rough 60 fps mode when it's an added bonus. So if they only had a locked 30 fps mode. Players lose out but it scores higher because it doesn't include an optional higher frame rate mode that needs optimizing more? It's nonsense π
Comments are crazy here. I'll play it when its done. People paying to beta test a game. It's literally impossible to iron every bug out on a game this scale before release. Look how the witcher 3 was for months and what that scored. And this is 5x bigger. Im 80 hours and ive seen 2 that were fixed when i reloaded. They're actually reading comments and suggestions and implementing the changes within days. Fantastic job from the devs. This game is an outstanding experience and I'm glad i jumped in day one so i sse the changes for myself. But they could leave the game as it is and it'd still be a generational game
It will, but only because this is going to be the longest generation in PS history. It's obvious what will happen, it'll be this price until around Black friday, then there will be a heavy drop and it'll sell 10 million in a month when (or if) GTA 6 is out.
@themightyant you can see for yourself with the steam tracking. I think it was 36% dislike on steam on day one, littered with people having under an hour playtime, rating it 0 just to rate it low and get refunded. Now each day its around 8 or 9% dislike. Because the proper players are doing it. And yes I agree a lot dont have time. But you can't play a monstrous game like this for a couple hours, see none of the game or the combat then rate it low. Dont buy a game this large if you don't plan to give it a chance.
And no absolutely any critic deserves an opinion after hitting the credits, but what you can't do it knock something down for having issues on a 60 fps mode. Every review mentions it and it's not right.
@themightyant like i say it was mixed on steam because people were rating it 0 without playing it. Once the actual players started playing it it rose sharply. And i agree the devs are at fault for the score it was given (mostly. You should never knock a game down on score for having a subpar performance mode) but the above and beyond effort they're putting in now makes up for it imo. And yes 8/10 is fine, great game. The 6/10 scores from this site are nonsense though. Especially as it arrived over a week after release so they had the extra benefit of solid updates
@themightyant most likely haven't played it though. How you can play this with the amount of content (and great content), varied creatures and bosses, visuals and just plain fun to be had and call it mid is beyond me. Ignoring the story it's the easiest 9 ive given, and likely even 9.5. And the fact the devs are implementing player suggestions within days is unheard of. Have to remember the ratings are heavily skewed too. Steam rating was 35% dislikes day one from people that hadn't played it and now it's at about 8% a day. PS score was full of people rating it 1/5 day one performance which is now largely fixed. The 6/10 scores like thid site gave it for performance issues which is irrelevant because the 30 fps mode runs great. But gave Dragon Dogma a 9/10 when the performance issues are worse than this, in a much smaller game.
Both will settle around a 9 or higher which puts it up there with the very best player rated games
@MrPeanutbutterz i just don't think it'd be any different or lose anything if they weren't there. Keep 10 games you want to play it's more than enough to jump between. Anything else you can download whilst playing
After they teased us for months with it. Just hire the memoria project team. Its literally that simple and their gameplay is exactly how it should look
@lazarus11 this. Things like zelda get a free pass, the story is even worse than this game but its ignored. Gsmes like elden ring, the vast majority don't have a clue whats going on with the story, the just do the gameplay. That's how I'm treating this game.
@lazarus11 they havent though. As per the ratings people are absolutely loving it. My friends 100 hours in on base PS5 and raves over it. Isnt bad for a broken game. People really need to stop having opinions on things they haven't experienced for themselves. The games polished as hell for something so massive
@Globo not necessarily a loss. But even if it's a small one that happens every gen. There's still 2-3 years in my opinion. And it does, like I say they need numbers on a new generation much much more than they need numbers on a Pro model. I don't think the 6 will be much of a step up from the Pro. PSSR will be doing all the work. I can actually see them concentrating on a better CPU in because that's the current issue. PSSR is handling the GPU side and thatll be far more advanced by then. Probably a small increase in GPU being 5 years newer. Naturally the SSD wont be changed. And probably a new 'gimmick' added as a selling point. If it released late 2028 I'd stab at 699 without a drive.
@Dogbreath thing is though, it's in essence a bonus mode. The 60 fps mode is bonus. They could have just offered a locked 30 mode only and it would have run perfect in that mode. GTA will do that, will it get marked down for it? Nope. It always bugs me when developers offer extra graphical modss then gdt knocked down for it like it isnt a bonus extra on top that you don't need to use.
Granted I am on the Pro, but you notice a drop from 60 to 40 instantly. I can remember it in one location where i had a lot of flying robot creatures chasing me and thats the only noticeable part of my playthrough so far. @Silenos witcher 3 was a bit of buggy mess for sure (much more than this game) but rated incredibly and the issues were ignored. Similarly games like zelda have practically zero story and aren't marked down for it but Crimson Desert got hit for both
@Dogbreath you're seeing that anomaly on one tiny part of the game that clearly has an issue. Id argue its 5 mins of a 300 hour experience. That isnt the game. Im 60 hours in and ive not even found that battle so that says a lot
