It's a good day for those with a PS5 Pro, as Sony is rolling out the all-important PSSR 2.0 update today.

While the enhanced upscaling tech can be enabled for all games with PS5 Pro support, a select few have been highlighted in a PS Blog post, with commentary from the development teams behind them.

It's always interesting to get a little insight from the people making the games we play, so let's go through some of these comments and see what they think of PSSR 2.0.

The team behind Silent Hill F says the game is now "an even smoother gameplay experience than before", saying that "finer details" like grass and shadows "are rendered with greater clarity".

Maciej Kurowski, BioWare's technical director, says the updated PSSR delivers a "meaningful improvement in image quality" in Dragon Age: The Veilguard without sacrificing performance.

Next, Remedy Entertainment's Tatu Aalto is also impressed. "The improvements allow efficient stochastic sampling without sacrificing image stability," he says. "The new PSSR responds quickly to visibility changes in games, keeping motion clear while improving temporal stability."

Ninja Theory is particularly impressed by "the quality of particle effects with this latest update, helping to bring key gameplay moments to life through enhanced visuals."

Director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, says "fine details such as character’s hair" are much improved compared to the original PSSR, while "image processing is more stable due to less flickering and afterimage feeling."

Nioh 3 producer Kohei Shibata says the team is able to show "even sharper" details than before, highlighting the "edges of natural objects such as trees, plants and flowers."

It sounds like the overall message is that PSSR 2.0 really does take things up a notch, adding an extra layer of sheen that's most noticeable in finer details.

As mentioned, you'll soon be able to judge for yourself, as the update is gradually coming to all PS5 Pro users.
