Tekken: Dark Resurrection, the excellent PSP port of Tekken 5, is available for all PS Plus Premium members to download today.
But like all of Bandai Namco’s emulated ports, it’s arrived without Trophies.
Sony’s policy for these retro releases is to relax its requirements, so trinkets are not mandated like in most other games.
However, the platform holder tends to add them to its own titles, while other publishers like Disney have also enabled support for the system.
For whatever reason – whether it’s a cost issue or just a general lack of interest – Bandai Namco’s games have been dropping without gongs.
It’s unfortunate, because it’s one of the few publishers actually back Sony’s initiative, and its catalogue is great. We’d kill for Trophies in Ridge Racer Type-4 and SoulCalibur 3, two all-time classics already available in the service.
To be fair, Tekken: Dark Resurrection plays great in its emulated format on the PS5. Gameplay is snappy and smooth, while the visuals in-game are pretty impressive.
(The pre-rendered menus and character profiles are a bit grainy, but that’s to be expected.)
Bandai Namco will add Time Crisis to PS Plus Premium on 21st May. We’re going to assume that will also launch without Trophies, too.
There’s always a possibility gongs may get patched in at a later date, and that’s our only hope at this stage.
C’mon Bandai Namco, you’ve done the hard work here – throw some Trophies in for fun.
