@Whately86 cost me 300 to upgrade to the Pro for higher frame rates and a better quality image and my Pro will sell for a couple hundred more on next gen release. 4 years better gaming for practically nothing. Go troll on the PC boards who buy a new graphics card. And wow. Like 1% of the games run worse and that was ENTIRELY developer inputs fault, not the console. It wasn't marketed to do what the base was at all. You can have an opinion but that massive rant out of nowhere at Sony and everyone who bought one just makes you look bitter and jealous.
@Whately86 damn dude touch the doll where the Pro hurt you 😂 Practically everyone who's bought it loves it. You're singing to the wrong crowd. Why on earth would it include a 200 dollar headset when they likely make no money on it in the first place.
@nomither6 doubt it. Its pretty obvious this is testing PSSR for the PS6 so they can release it cost effective and let PSSR do the work not a powerful GPU
@Porco people are just enjoying their purchase and want to talk about it. And the sales definitely aren't bad. It's sold more than PS4 Pro did in the same time, at twice the cost and it seems to be flying off the shelves in the PS5 groups I'm in after the PSSR 2 news. PS6 won't be out next year, even 2028 is a push with the RAM issues. If people want to upgrade for a few years better gaming all power to them
@Othatguy its like when people get a new graphics card, you do it for better quality. The selling point for me is quality mode graphics at performance frame rates. Getting RT at 60 fps and looking like 4K is more than slight to me. Cost me 300 personally after selling my PS5 and upon PS6 release the Pro will have a much higher resale value than a base PS5 would. More than worth that upgrade cost for me personally.
Everyone's different, people who dont trophy hunt won't see the point and sure, you don't 'need' trophies, but it's the achievement factor in doing them. But it's just pure laziness not to add them. The retro part of PS Premium is already pretty bad (so many old games they could tap into and we get one a month added and sometimes even none). The least they could do is add a trophy list to satisfy some people. Personally I'd love to hunt down a trophy list for an old game I used to like. If not, I could just emulate it if it was just about playing it. Especially as all as we get is bog standard ports with nothing improved.
Doesn't affect the PS6 release at all, they arent competing anymore. The Xbox is now basically a PC, it won't have exclusives. Proved last gen that having the most powerful console doesn't make a difference either. Sony certainly won't be pushing their schedule forward to release at the same time
@RoomWithaMoose yes but the point is it's a handheld, if you're trying to replicate the experience then sitting there holding controller and playing on a phone isn't it. And yep you could get a holder but then you're not using a dualsense so again not the same experience. There's natually other options but its a grsat screen on the portal and i think it has its uses (especially now it has streaming which you can't do on a tablet)
@RoomWithaMoose easily is a push. Youd have to play on a phone screen or tablet with it propped up and holding a dualsense separately (then it isnt a handheld)
Thankfully I make use of the premium with my portal but the promised classics were mis-sold so badly. We've even had PS4 games lumped in there and called a classic. There's an absolute wealth of games that could be added and we've had 6 in half a year
@Number09 id be genuinely surprised if any run quieter unless they're low graphical games, the cooling system is terrible, I had my Pro from 2016-2020 and i remember the noise. I cant hear my PS5 and im sat 6 feet away
@Sweetz seems like its a huge upgrade to me personally. From having a Pro since day one the PSSR had a lot of issues. The 2.0 seems to have eliminated them
@Nexozi yeah i didnt really get that either. Why play a stupidly loud console to play PS4 games when your PS5 plays every one of them at higher quality then the 4 Pro then say your PS5 is gathering dust when we're 5+ into the gen and there's many next gen games available . Doesn't even sound like they own one
@Number09 you cant play many games then. Im easily on way over 50 games not on PS4. Naturally you think it's gimmick if you're using a decade old console though
Most of these will be PS5 owners. Its smart really. It's only around a 3-400 outlay after selling PS5 and then your Pro will be worth far more to sell than your base PS5 would be when PS6 releases so that's another couple hundred saved on the price
Always confuses me the people who say i never see any difference in the footage. You wont... Its compressed. The point was youre gettung quality mode graphics at performance mode framerates (or better than in this case). That's how it was always advertised. Some people just want every bell and whistle. Ive loved being able to have RT on in some games whilst I'd have never done it on base PS5 simply because of being stuck at 30 fps
I remember getting up to 100 fls on Forbidden West and it looked absolutely stunning. And that was on base PS5. Can't imagine how the Pro looks. Hands down the best engine. Then you get UE5 nonsense that struggles to hit 60 and look far worse.
Youd have to be pretty braindead to think the PS6 won't have a drive. As an addon? Perhaps. Although having to buy one and fit as an extra might just kill off physical for good. And it'll hurt sony as more will move over to PC, especially with exclusives arriving there quick now. It'll sure be a sad day for me paying £70 (probably £80) a game compared to about £10 overall now
Really seems people are forgetting how PS4 was, sure the games didn't look 'that' much different to now. But we were playing in 1080p and 30 fps for the most part. Takes a hell of a lot of extra graphical power to bump that to 4k and 60. Especially with the far better lighting in games of today
Eh im not too fussed. Originally i thought 2028 but i dont even think much GPU power is needed over the Pro, certainly not 4 years worth of increase. Especially with PSSR improvements. They need to start putting decent CPUs in
And that's when I play it. Say it didn't need it all you like but when you're in a game world, panning a camera. Thats choppy at 30. It needed it. The visuals of this game had zero reason to be stuck at 30 in 2025 in the first place
@LogicStrikesAgain agreed. I dont see how you can a single complaint when we were getting RT at 60 launch day. Id take that any day of the week with the Pro.
@Papasears1982 I really want to play daybreak but I get the feeling theyre going to do the whole series. I played the first 2 on PC then they announced the remakes so I stopped 🙃
Just wish it had cross save. Im getting the collection on the 8th and want to start it, I have the free PS4 version. But no point if I'd have to restart
Honestly id rather proper effort was put into PS1 and PS2 ones. Obviously on PC but I recently played DQVIII on an emulator in 4K with 4K textures, it was gorgeous. Imagine if our old games looked this way on PS5 emulated. Do that.
@EfYI im genuinely baffled at the stupidity of anyone leasing a console. Over the 2 years you end up paying as much as console costs and you have to give it back.
I dont see who its for to be honest. It depends on the price. If its under £500 itll probably do ok. But it isnt making PS5 users move, steam only for the casual user..why ditch your PS5 for that? And PC guys want the customisation, stuck at 8GB VRAM and something only as powerful as a PS5. Really dont see who it is for
Genuinely dont know why developers dont just have a unlocked mode that runs off the base PS5 version. Itd mean every single time the Pro version would run better than the base console version, and they could make specific modes as well that utilise things like PSSR.
@MrHabushi but it doesnt run at 90w. Thats the main point. Gamed could run at this wattage and run exactly the same as they do now. Yes Sonys word is correct, some games will scale back performance to run at 90w. But some won't need to scale back performance to do that, thats the point
@tameshiyaku I genuinely dont even get his argument it doesnt make any sense 😂 optimising the game does nothing. It still uses the PS5s full wattage no matter how they optimise it
