@Medic_alert same. I moved from a 4K monitor to a 1440 OLED and it looks better than ever. 4K is such a massive waste of resources. I'd much rather 1440 was concentrated on with more details (especially as PSSR is doing the work now)

@Gewertzx damn now that's an opinion. Even if I didn't like a game baffles me people can call a game that's widely called one of the best on PS4 a turd 😅

@TheArt because it was already very well optimised on the PS5...why does that mean last gen should have gone another 4 years. Not as if they cut the gen short. Who wants to wait over 10 years between a console gen. I've probably played 20 games only on a PS5 console wise...worth it to me

@rjejr I mean why use this game as a basis and saying a waste of money? It already looked amazing in 60 fps on the base PS5. Use a game like Rebirth as a metric which didn't. Differences like that are where its worth my money.

@Ken_Kaniff for you. Dragon age and FF7 Rebirth alone show the worth for me. I refuse to play at 30 fps and that's the difference

@CrashBandicoat I just don't see the point of Xbox existing as a console anymore, given the struggles this gen i wouldnt even be surprsed if they dropped out of the console market totally. I have gamepass but on a laptop, it's a much better experience.

@Kalime78 absolutely isn't 2 years. There was a chip shortage and covid, that's delaying things. Even by a normal timeline it'd be another 3 years. They won't follow what Xbox do anymore, the Pro shows that. I can see Xbox releasing one in the next 18 months tbh.

It isn't though, is it? You said day one games. That is early access. Fay one games are still the same price they've been for ages. I bought Metaphor for £40 day one.

And this is why I've bought a pro. Not for the limited stuff available on older games. For what it'll do for the next 3 years of games.

Always will appreciate big games not making you play twice. Absolutely pointless. Nice to see that's not the case this time

@LavenderShroud value for money for me. If I get a platinum I know I've got my moneys worth and seen everything the game has to offer. Sense of achievement too if anything was difficult

@TheDudeElDuderino people with families mostly I'm guessing. Much better to stay sat with your family than banished to another room whilst you play a game. People who want to play on the go as well. Can imagine its pretty cool if you just want to chill in bed as well and don't want to drag the playstation upstairs

@Shad361 they will. There's about 50 on Ebay, which isn't bad out of probably 50k or more sold. As said, if it was they had only sold them to scalpers there would be 1000s for sale. The price is dropping to £800...after fees it's barely worth even doing it and this is day one. There's a lot more to be released on the market yet. Scalping isn't a thing for this Pro it's just the odd few trying to make a quick buck cause they don't know it isn't worth scalping this.

Even if it was supposed to be on the PS5 it's nice to have proper 4K/60 finally

@Shad361 maybe 1% of them. It was active for 4 hours. Anyone who wanted one could easily get one. If they disappeared in minutes you'd be right

@RubyCarbuncle doubt it or it wouldn't have taken 4 hours for them to sell out it'd have taken minutes tbh. Obvs some will end up on Ebay as that's what people are like

@Ralizah correct. I played it on the 120hz mode. Getting 90+ and it looked stunning. Can't imagine how great it'll look now

@S1ayeR74 tbf there is some that do native 4K/120 but they're just weak graphical games. I honestly believe forbidden West will do PSSR 4k/120 though given the frame rate on the regular ps5

This is one that the difference will be great because it already was able to run at a very high frame rate. With PSSR you're probably getting AI upscaled 4K/120 with this title.

@TheElectroFunky I'm wondering this too because I'm wondering about the times tomorrow. For instance if the regular Pro releases before the 30th edition one and I've bought a regular pro...can I still buy the 30th anniversary one? Because they may only let one pro per account

@S1ayeR74 you can buy them tbf but the price is stupid. The TVs are pretty cheap now though (well cheap for 8K) and a lot smaller than they used to be. 8K is stupid though

@Loamy I have a 1440 OLED and I'm actually interested tbh because it was always the issue 1440p dividing into 4K. But it divides perfectly into 8K

@nessisonett well yes tbh. They just advertise the capabilites of the console. Isn't really their fault if literally every developer hasn't taken advantage of it. If someone made an 8K mode then it'd have run.

The numbers are still very nearly 50/50 for physical and digital overall I'd say. Naturally there will be periods when there's more sway either way. E.G. black myth sold a lot and was only available digitally in this period. All these 80-90% figures are nonsense tbh. Some of those stats have included mobile and PC which are obviously 0% physical. And some have even included PS plus downloads. When the game is available both is a copy and digital it's close to even

As a whole worldwide it isn't really changing though. Physical still has the same market it has for a couple of years

I mean he's right. I'd honestly be surprised if Sony are making anything on this machine. But console gaming is supposed to be more entry level. On the other hand it is an enthusiast model. I'm 50/50 on whether it should be as is. Or cheaper parts and cheaper to buy

Honestly don't care the resolution if it's upscaled well. DLSS quality mode is outstanding and I can't even differentiate between that and native whilst playing. If it's anywhere near to that it'll work great

@OldGamer999 it does but Native 4K is an overwhelming waste or resources. If you can have RT in and a low res or more details on screen it will always be a better looking game upscaled.

@KundaliniRising333 even with that, it's still not overpriced for that you get. People are used to entry level consoles and prices that's the issue

@KundaliniRising333 it's not overpriced though, not at all. The tech is well worth the money. The issue is they've made it too powerful so that needs to be a high price point. They'd have been better making the GPU a bit worse and a smaller SSD because people will naturally go nuts at the price. Even though people don't seem to whine at PCs costing thousands even though they're both optional.

This image is obviously exaggerated but are people forgetting how rebirth looked exactly on performance mode? There was instances of very low poly models and everything for the most part was quite blurry compared to quality. I'd be willing the bet the vast majority who said it looked awesome were playing on quality mode. The difference is we're now getting the quality mode visuals with the performance mode frame rate. Whether that is worth it is another matter

@x3King84 I agree with some of what you say, I've got into PC gaming this year but if I'm buying day one games it's certainly not cheaper. I'd spend far more overall on those. I'm not getting a pro for PS 4.5 games though. I've played maybe 15-20 so far that are only on the 5 but it's not about the past before the Pro existed. Now PS4 is getting phased out there should be an abundance of next gen only ones over the next 3-4 years. That's what my Pro will be for.

@OldGamer999 and then same thing happens in 2026/7. That just delays next gen by 3 years

@Pranwell yeah I expect to pay £250-300 for the Pro once I've sold my PS5. It's more than worth it for 3-4 years of better experiences. Especially once GTA 6 hits. Not saying it'll happen but it's worth that money to me alone if they manage to wring 60 fps out of it on the Pro. Or even 40.
