@RoomWithaMoose fair point. But my fear is how this can lead to every publisher and developer having their own streaming service for their own games.
Remember when streaming was the cheaper alternative to cable because you could just pay for one service and watch what you want? Now every studio has its own streaming service and it’s upwards of $70-$100 a month to get them all. This is my fear for gaming.
And I think this is why they’re all trying to get live services going. Because if they’re making millions on a continued service, they don’t have to pump out new content.
Started playing this with my son because it allows full on multiplayer (unlike Elden Ring). But stopped after a bit because it’s just not my cup of tea. Great for all those who want this though.
@Zeroo so you think a game has to be 9/10 or 10/10 to be a must play? I’ve played a ton of games and I don’t think a single one is a 10/10. Many have been 9/10. But some 7s and 8s are more fun and engaging games.
@DarianStarfrog it’s not about lacking patience really. I’m a guy who loves Skyrim, Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and The Witcher III. Believe me, the patience I’ve had to endure waiting for those sequels is masterwork!
I liked Black Desert a little bit and was looking forward to see if they can make the necessary improvements. But with all the delays on this and the number of games releasing that are right up my alley, I’m kinda losing interest in this. I’m sure I’ll check it out when it comes. But I’m no longer anticipating it.
Diablo IV is good. But the live service aspect killed it for me. Just doesn’t feel right. I completed the story then stopped playing. Already Molag Bal’s deep into ESO so another “MMO” would’ve been too much.
@DarianStarfrog @ilyn choices matter in Dragon Age: The Veilguard! My first playthrough, I made all the right choices and got the happiest ending where things worked out for the team. Second playthrough, I intentionally made the opposite choices of my first playthrough and everyone died in the end, including my character!
@naruball another Dragon Age: The Veilguard champion! Love it! If it weren’t for EA being EA it would’ve been more successful. They gave up far too quickly on the game!
And I understand how you feel about the characters. The story can move on a couple of ways and in none of the scenarios does everyone show up in the next game. I liked Neve, Harding, and Davrin the most. I also like Taash but I think they went a little too cliche with the character.
@FinneasGH Doubly agree on Dragon Age: The Veilguard! Played it through twice! First, for the happy ending with my goodie 2 shoes character. Then the bad ending with my guy who’s as much of an a-hole as the game allows. Thinking about giving it another go ‘round. Were it not for certain elements that get people upset, it would’ve been received as well commercially as it was critically.
Platinum’d Flintlock and finally on to Ghost of Tsushima! Also, Elder Scrolls Online, naturally. I’ll quit this game one day. But not today… nor tomorrow!
Every time I see “Midnight Murder Club” I gasp with excitement. Then I’m brought back down to reality realizing that this is not the return of my favorite racing sim. 😢
Oh, man! I wish my older brother was still alive to play this one with me. The memories of waking up at 4 AM on a school day just to play Gradius and Tecmo Super Bowl!
Finally got around to playing a good amount of Ghost of Tsushima a few days ago. So far it’s as expected. Great game! Really looking forward to this one!
PS5 has been doing well on the sales front. Considering the thing was so hard to get when it was released. That also set back the console sales out the gate.
@Frmknst THIS!!! This is exactly what I say about turn-based games! They’re good for those who don’t have the motor skills for actions games (and that’s not a jab at anyone), but for me they’re just plain boring and the antithesis of gaming.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy I have every trophy but Emperor! Why would they put such a trophy in the game?! It’s one thing to require a player to play PVP to get a trophy. It’s another thing to require a player to be number 1 in the world in PVP to get a trophy. Ridiculous!
I played this game on and off repeatedly in the first year of release. I literally called it “The most boring game I’ve ever played” back then. But in year two, something clicked. I’ve played this game religiously since then. Just got off playing at a few hours ago, and I’ve not been missed many days where I haven’t played it. For maybe the past 7 or 8 years it’s been the top game when I get my Sony recap. Awesome game!
@Foxx_64740 I’m a corporate guy. I work for a corporation and know how they talk. When there’s profit, they’ll talk profit. When there’s no profit, they’ll talk revenue. Liken it to how games that underperform from a sales standpoint get their “engagement” numbers quoted and now the sales figures. No one can polish a turd better than a corporate executive!
@Foxx_64740 nothing any of them said is wrong though. Revenue and profit are 2 every different things. If they spend 10 billion on Gamepass and make 5 billion in revenue, do you consider that a win?
Even more proof that Xbox is dead! It’s now basically a machine to own if you’re completely loyal to the brand. Why own it exclusively if you can play the “exclusives” on every other available platform?
@Cry_Zero First of all, I’ve played every single GOW game. Haven’t missed a single iteration. Second, if the show has 10–12 episodes, they can tell his origin story through flashbacks. They don’t need to tell the entire Greek story in the single season. They don’t even have to show that he killed his wife and daughter in the first season. And finally, take it down a notch, man. You’re far too hostile for no apparent reason.
@HaveTheSauce I hear you. Myself, I don’t have much issue with Ellie. I know the actress took a whole lot of heat but the same guys who created the character went with the HBO version. I’ll admit I prefer the game version, but I don’t hate the film version. But there are a few characters I can say the TV version is better than the original game version.
@Cry_Zero can easily work starting from Norse and flashing back to Greek. Wouldn’t be the first (or second, or 28th) time we’ve seen a character develop through flashbacks.
God of War is one of my top 10 gaming series and I’ll reserve judgement until I see this come together. Those who are already passing judgement likely are setting themselves up to dislike it no matter what the final product looks like.
Elder Scrolls Online and Flintlock: The Siege at Dawn. Flintlock is a good game. But it’s a soulslike in a crowd of soulslikes. I feel like soulslikes need to stop coming out to be honest. Far too niche to ever actually match Souls game. I do like Flintlock though.
@KillerBoy it really wasn’t a “buggy mess” upon release. It just had some things in the game that people didn’t like (i.e. stealth fails). Really, the only major “fix” they made was removing stealth fails. After that , most who played it enjoyed it.
Me, I didn’t mind the stealth fails. Makes more sense to be sneaking through an imperial facility, get caught, and you fail. Rather than you run for a bit and they guards forget about you.
Also, it puzzles me how people whine about stealth fails but don’t mind the Souls games that almost force you to take the same path after you die if you wanna reclaim your souls.
@wildcat_kickz as a gamer who loves both The Division, and Star Wars. I’ll say, at the moment, I’d much prefer a new Division game over a new Star Wars game.

The “Netflixification of gaming” is exactly what I called it upon announcement! It’ll do t o gaming what streaming has done to film!
