As was perhaps expected, Battlefield 6 has made a strong impact; the first-person shooter has made a number one debut on the UK's physical games chart.
EA's bombastic multiplayer FPS is top of the table, and at physical retail, 82 per cent of copies sold were the PS5 version.
The game knocks Ghost of Yotei off its perch, with the PS5 exclusive now in third place after a similarly splashy arrival.
With Battlefield 6 in first and EA Sports FC 26 in second, it's a hefty one-two punch for Electronic Arts as we head into holiday territory.
It'll be interesting to see if the game's momentum is the same in other regions of the world as other sales reports come in. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 also on the horizon, BF6 still has its work cut out, but this first look at sales performance is encouraging.
Presumably, EA will publish official sales or player numbers in due course.
Given how popular Battlefield 6's open beta was and how positively it's been received so far, everything seems to be in the game's favour right now.
Elsewhere, Little Nightmares 3 debuts in sixth, while our old friend Grand Theft Auto V reappears at number 10.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.

Now a friend and I managed to figure out how to turn off crossplay and still be able to play together in a squad (both on PS5), we're enjoying it. Really awkward that it forces crossplay by default even if you're on the same system. It was awful in lobbies full of PC players who can seemingly see through walls.
“Selling Best on PS5” lol. Until these companies start offering a Nintendo Switch version… It would be hard push for it to not sell best on PS5.
What do you think the odds are that by the time GTA VII launches (yes VII, not VI), GTA V will STILL be in the top ten?
Pincer movement going in on COD's flanks aiming for a full encirclement.
Had a few games yesterday and it feels like older BF games to me. Has me hooked.
I don't care about BF 6 numbers. But nice to see Ghost of Yotei still selling well in the 2nd week.
82% despite it not being on Game Pass.
@AverageGamer I think if there is one thing we've constantly read it's that third parties aren't doing too hot on the Switch 2, just like the Switch. Especially for online shooters, the Switch will be the worst place to play the game and no shooter fan would take a 720p30fps or 480p60fps version just for portability
Going to be really interesting to see how this compares to COD numbers. Great to finally see some competition in this genre!
GTA V will never be out of the top 10. Crazy how long that one’s had legs. Yōtei still solid because there’s no way an SP beat an online shooter and a SOCCER (😏) game in the UK.
@PuppetMaster yeah. It did 1.6 million sell through in week 1. That’s a solid start!
Physical?`They should be enforced by law to release the digital sales numbers.
Why? Because I'm curious, damnit!
@AverageGamer If this game was released on the Switch, it would have sold about 10-20% of the PS5/PC version. What reality do some of you guys live in?
Hooah! Soldiers...
@AhmadSumadi 1.6 million for physical copies only? And is it worldwide or UK only?
@SeaDaVie it would run at 10fps on switch 2 lol..
@PuppetMaster I can’t find an article that specifies either of those things. That being the case, I’ll assume that it’s sold through in total, and worldwide.
@AverageGamer I'm not being contradictory or argumentive I agree with what you said. However, its not up to the companies to offer a version of their PS/Xbox game. Its up to Nintendo to releases beefy enough hardware to run them. Switch 2 seems a bit better (cyberpunk), but there's so much more happening in a BF game, with its large scale warfare modes. Switch 2 could never handle all that happening on screen at once
Bought my copy at local game store. Shop owner said it was selling really well, I asked how many physical Xbox copies he had sold, he said he only had 3 left….. though they only got 4 copies in.
@JohnnyShoulder Same, really enjoying it. I've seen a lot of complaints about it, but then from some of the players I've seen..."skill issue" comes to mind, people running in dead straight predictable lines right out in the open...and then throwing a hissy fit over getting shot from nowhere 😂, the usual stuff. Been accused of camping for waiting in one place for about 20 seconds because I knew there were a couple of guys behind a wall...only to see the same players who seemingly have ants in their pants and can't even humour the idea of patience, getting gunned down by the enemy who weren't even well hidden, love it.
Granted the last one I played and really enjoyed was Battlefield 1, loved all the old ones back in the day though and would love a modern Battlefield Vietnam, that was my fave!
@PrettyPawsome Yeah that was a cool one, running through the nests with a flame thrower was awesome!
@cainhurst94 @SeaDaVie @StitchJones My comment had nothing to do with performance or a theoretical Switch 2 version out selling the PS5 version… It radical shift we’re seeing in the industry right now. It about the fact that Xbox is imploding in on itself as a brand. No one buying Xbox, people are selling their Xbox, the few who still own Xbox aren’t buying games for it, retailers are removing anything Xbox related from their shelves.
There realistically only two consoles left in the competition (PlayStation and Nintendo) as I’m sure a lot of these chart don’t offer information on PC sales since those aren’t physical.
Developers are really gonna have to start taking in serious consideration of scaling these games enough for Switch or less they’ll be stuck with just PlayStation and PC as Xbox fizzle out. We are starting to see that consideration especially from Japanese companies… It just big western companies aren’t, and funny enough those are the one dying out and selling out to companies like the Tencent and Saudi Arabia. 🤷
@AhmadSumadi I see. At least Yotei is selling well which is the opposite of what the grifters said.
@AverageGamer I'm sure most devs are doing just fine with only PS and PC userbase. Many games doesn't has Switch version and they still manage to sold well. In fact, without Switch version, many devs are avoiding the headache of scalling down their games and can focus more on the best optimization.
I'm sure Rockstar doesn't need Switch 2 for GTA 6 to sell more than 100 million copies.
Playing on PS5 just annoying crossplay on playing against KBM turn it off and playing against bots 🤦🏻♂️
@CheapMerc I haven't come across bots yet, but when I turned crossplay off, most of the lobby was XBOX users.
@WobberleyBob says bot next to name. Probably cause I'm in western Australia. Not enough local ps5 only players.
@CheapMerc Ahhh OK!
@PuppetMaster “ In fact, without Switch version, many devs are avoiding the headache of scalling down their games and can focus more on the best optimization.”
You mean that they can continue to be lazy and not optimize? These low power devices to a lot more for game optimizations than just developing solely for high power systems. When developing for high powered systems all it does is lead developers to rely more on hardware to power through their poor coding.
A recent example is with BF6, Series S, and it lower memory… It forced the developers to actually optimize their software to improve memory management.
If more developers actually developed games for switch or lower power systems… maybe we wouldn’t stick with games want a 5090 to even be payable.
@AverageGamer "You mean that they can continue to be lazy and not optimize?"
Ah yes because Zelda BotW and TotK for Switch looks very smooth and optimized right? They doesn't have performance issues like frame drop from 30 to 20 right? That's why Nintendo didn't port both games for Switch 2 right? Lmao. Nintendo themself can't even optimized their own games for Switch.
Even games that doesn't require a lot of optimization doesn't played well on Switch. Old shmup games for example has more input lag and slow down on Switch compare to PS4.
Sorry to say but this "3rd party devs needs to scaled down their games to cater to the lowest common denominator" idea is just dumb af. Period.
Guess ill pick it up during black friday for half off
