Re: Ghost of Yotei's Latest Video Immerses You in 10 Minutes of Gorgeous Music and Landscapes

@graymamba this is a notion I kinda don’t get either. Like, if a sequel feels like the previous game, but with some changes to mechanics and graphics, that’s because it’s a sequel lol. Sometimes you’ll have broad changes that people love (Helldivers 2), and sometimes you’ll have broad changes that people despise (Dragon Age: The Veilguard). For the most part, the sequel usually feels like the next part of the series. Because that’s exactly what it is!

This game looks better than Tsushima looks. I'm playing Tsushima right now and I can tell it's rebuilt for PS5, but not base PS5. While there are diminishing returns, there are still improvements.

The technological gains we had from past generations aren't as broad in the current tech landscape. I feel like some people are looking for true to life graphics at this point and we're not there yet.

@RoomWithaMoose all of this! I hate in first person games when they have you design your character and put all this cool stuff on them, just to see it every so often in a cutscene. Also, COD is the most commercialized franchise in gaming. It’s been ridiculous since after the first Modern Warfare. But I guess celebrity hate is where the ridiculousness draws the line.

Re: Preview: Hellraiser PS5's Sexual Horror Is Pushing Its M Rating to the Max

@tangyzesty Americans are weird like that. Like, we can see all kinds of human suffering on screen and not bat an eye. But let a puppy die and people lose their minds!

There’s a new horror film releasing in which the dog is the main character. He’s trying to protect his humans from malevolent ghosts in the house. Ghosts only the dog can see. Everyone online was going nuts saying nothing better happen to the dog. Like WTH?!

There’ve even been studies where they show people humans being beaten and tortured and there were less visceral reactions to that than of videos of animals being hit by their owners. It’s the weirdest thing!

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3 PS1 Ports Disappoint with No Trophy Support on PS5, PS4

AhmadSumadi

As much as I am a trophy hunter I’ll say this. Gaming before trophies and achievements felt more complete. Once you finished the game you didn’t care about “cleaning up” the trophies. I get it that they put these in to keep players engaged. But I’ve seen instances where players would skip a game because the trophies are too hard to get. Or not trophy support at all. Case in point…

Re: Xbox Game Pass May Make Devs 'Wage Slaves', Says Ex-PlayStation Exec

@RoomWithaMoose fair point. But my fear is how this can lead to every publisher and developer having their own streaming service for their own games.

Remember when streaming was the cheaper alternative to cable because you could just pay for one service and watch what you want? Now every studio has its own streaming service and it’s upwards of $70-$100 a month to get them all. This is my fear for gaming.

And I think this is why they’re all trying to get live services going. Because if they’re making millions on a continued service, they don’t have to pump out new content.

Re: Ambitious Open World RPG Crimson Desert Delayed to 2026

@DarianStarfrog it’s not about lacking patience really. I’m a guy who loves Skyrim, Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and The Witcher III. Believe me, the patience I’ve had to endure waiting for those sequels is masterwork!

I liked Black Desert a little bit and was looking forward to see if they can make the necessary improvements. But with all the delays on this and the number of games releasing that are right up my alley, I’m kinda losing interest in this. I’m sure I’ll check it out when it comes. But I’m no longer anticipating it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 593

@DarianStarfrog @ilyn choices matter in Dragon Age: The Veilguard! My first playthrough, I made all the right choices and got the happiest ending where things worked out for the team. Second playthrough, I intentionally made the opposite choices of my first playthrough and everyone died in the end, including my character!

@naruball another Dragon Age: The Veilguard champion! Love it! If it weren’t for EA being EA it would’ve been more successful. They gave up far too quickly on the game!

And I understand how you feel about the characters. The story can move on a couple of ways and in none of the scenarios does everyone show up in the next game. I liked Neve, Harding, and Davrin the most. I also like Taash but I think they went a little too cliche with the character.

@FinneasGH Doubly agree on Dragon Age: The Veilguard! Played it through twice! First, for the happy ending with my goodie 2 shoes character. Then the bad ending with my guy who’s as much of an a-hole as the game allows. Thinking about giving it another go ‘round. Were it not for certain elements that get people upset, it would’ve been received as well commercially as it was critically.
