Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 587

Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo IV, and Star Wars: Outlaws. Possibly getting back into my 2nd run of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. But, ultimately, I’m just waiting for Everybody’s Golf to drop.

Edit: A lot of Star Wars: Outlaws players. Love to see it! Really good game that’s been maligned a lot more than it deserves.

Re: Sony Sued for 'Abusing Its Dominant Position in the Console Market'

@8bit4Life I've not bought physical in about 5 years but I agree with you on the PS Store sales. I see them all the time, usually even as quickly as a month or 2 after release. I saw someone mention Dragon Age: The Veilguard being $30 on PSN but listed as $12 physically. I mean, they gave that game away for $0.00 a few months ago so I think paying $0.00 beats paying $12.00.

I swear. This gen, most of the interaction I see on gaming forums has more to do with the business side of the gaming industry than then games themselves. Always with the arguments about 1st/3rd party, digital/physical, etc. Gamers have driven themselves to become miserable turds. Maybe it’s because we 80s gamers are in our 40s now and have become old curmudgeons? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Re: Intergalactic PS5 May See Naughty Dog Leaning Further into RPG Elements

@Flaming_Kaiser @Oram77 What's crazy is that these people haven't always been this way. They didn't always "cry woke" at the sight of any game character who's not white male or a female who's not built to be eye candy. Something has made them all of a sudden become this way.

My greatest example of how they've changed comes in a comparison between Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Inquisition had gay characters and a trans character. I remember being able to interact with fans of that game and none of that ever came up. Inquisition even had a quest in which you'd help a gay Mage come out to his father.

Now, take Veilguard. It has gay and trans characters and they've lost their minds over it! Every interaction between people who like the game gets bombarded with those who scream "DEI" or "woke". But the previous game had all these same elements...

At this point it's clear that a political agenda isn't necessary for them to bemoan these things. Al they need to see is a woman who's not there for them to just gawk at, or a main character who's not a straight, white man and they go nuts.

Re: Blood Message Is Uncharted Meets Ancient China, and It Looks Phenomenal

@lazarus11 and see. Those are valid criticisms. The same ones I had. My most hated thing about it is the fact that you can romance any character. That leaves them all feeling shallow and robotic. Inquisition had straight, gay, bi, etc. Even had a character who wouldn’t romance anyone because she thought she was too good for anybody lol. But yeah, overall, a good game.

This gen it loaded with phenomenal single player games. But for some reason they’re not important unless Sony first party studios are releasing them. Also, who wants to have fun playing awesome solo joints when you can just complain about failed live services you’ve never played to begin with? Sorry, haven’t had my coffee yet this morning. 😊

Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Says Sony Has Never Really Seen Nintendo As a Rival

AhmadSumadi

@MrGawain First, check out what @get2sammyb said. Second, it's not the family games that do it for Nintendo. It's the portability. Make those same games on a mediocre console that has no novelty and you get... WiiU.

If Sony could sell the same games in the PS library that exist now, but sell it on a portable console, They'd compete with Nintendo in that space. Ask any gamer if they were able to play the PS library portably (reliably) if they'd jump on?

Re: 'People Are Less Willing to Pay': Dev Speaks Out Against Day One Releases on PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass

AhmadSumadi

@Rich33 Spotify is a good measure of how these services work for the service itself, but not for the people who actually work on the projects. Like, an artist's album has to be steamed 1500 times before it counts as 1 record sale for them. Then they're paid something like 10 cents per record sale.

I remember Snoop Dogg saying he had 1 billion streams on Spotify and only got paid $45,000.00 for the year. That's almost minimum wage.

Re: 'People Are Less Willing to Pay': Dev Speaks Out Against Day One Releases on PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass

AhmadSumadi

I mean, so many here are contributing to this! In one breath some of you lament the layoffs and loss of jobs. But then turn around and praise Game Pass and chastise PS Plus for not having day 1 releases.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Gaming will become just like streaming if this stuff continues. Instead of buying a game you want ever 3 months or so, you'll be playing upwards of $90/month to play every devs' best games on their individual steaming platform.
