How did you all turn this article into a full-on discussion on Game Pass when it barely even mentioned in the article?! Also, how is an Indy dev putting their Indy game on PS Plus day 1 equivalent to something like COD on Game Pass day 1?!
@PuppetMaster this sounds like the very same game! Nothing new at all 😏
Hate to say it too. But much of the negative discourse could revolve around the game having a female protagonist who’s not there to be gazed upon. Don’t know for sure. But with the discourse that surrounds games today, it’s not too far fetched.
@torquex I don’t think anyone cared about any of that. If they show her getting into the hot spring as they did Jin. I’m sure the only ones who’ll make it an issue are the ones who are weird about it and will make it about “woke” and whatnot.
@graymamba this is a notion I kinda don’t get either. Like, if a sequel feels like the previous game, but with some changes to mechanics and graphics, that’s because it’s a sequel lol. Sometimes you’ll have broad changes that people love (Helldivers 2), and sometimes you’ll have broad changes that people despise (Dragon Age: The Veilguard). For the most part, the sequel usually feels like the next part of the series. Because that’s exactly what it is!
This game looks better than Tsushima looks. I'm playing Tsushima right now and I can tell it's rebuilt for PS5, but not base PS5. While there are diminishing returns, there are still improvements.
The technological gains we had from past generations aren't as broad in the current tech landscape. I feel like some people are looking for true to life graphics at this point and we're not there yet.
@Darkri74345 Pure Xbox is always positive. I guess it depends on what you wanna hear. Because Pure Xbox only says how great Game Pass is. Take Push Square and balance yourself.
I basically only communicate with my fellow Push Squarers now in regards to gaming. I’ve left so many fandoms recently (Star Wars especially) since social media and Reddit became the most vocal, unreasonable voices.
I’m still super excited for this! Didn’t have to be a big upgrade from the previous game to be honest. The amount of fun I have playing this with my wife and kids will be worth it. Anticipating the end of the countdown!
I feel like I should complain about this since I’m not interested in any of these games. But I have Ghost of Tsushima, ESO, Echoes of The End, Diablo IV, The Rogue Prince of Persia, and the upcoming Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots so I think I’ll just not be mad over this. 🤷🏾♂️
4 day countdown for Everybody’s Golf! First game I’ve preordered in a very long time! 40 hours into Ghost of Tsushima and excited for Yotei. Gonna be a fun Fall!
The number of highly rated games this gen leaves me puzzled as to why so many believe this gen lacks in great games. First or third party doesn’t matter. Good is good either way.
@RoomWithaMoose all of this! I hate in first person games when they have you design your character and put all this cool stuff on them, just to see it every so often in a cutscene. Also, COD is the most commercialized franchise in gaming. It’s been ridiculous since after the first Modern Warfare. But I guess celebrity hate is where the ridiculousness draws the line.
@tangyzesty Americans are weird like that. Like, we can see all kinds of human suffering on screen and not bat an eye. But let a puppy die and people lose their minds!
There’s a new horror film releasing in which the dog is the main character. He’s trying to protect his humans from malevolent ghosts in the house. Ghosts only the dog can see. Everyone online was going nuts saying nothing better happen to the dog. Like WTH?!
There’ve even been studies where they show people humans being beaten and tortured and there were less visceral reactions to that than of videos of animals being hit by their owners. It’s the weirdest thing!
As much as I am a trophy hunter I’ll say this. Gaming before trophies and achievements felt more complete. Once you finished the game you didn’t care about “cleaning up” the trophies. I get it that they put these in to keep players engaged. But I’ve seen instances where players would skip a game because the trophies are too hard to get. Or not trophy support at all. Case in point…
So, a choice between first person and third person gameplay? I’d give it a shot. Not particularly into shooters (except Uncharted) but this looks promising.
@11001100110zero that’s what Blockbuster said about movies when the idea of steaming was pitched to them lol. I hope you’re correct in your assessment though.
@RoomWithaMoose fair point. But my fear is how this can lead to every publisher and developer having their own streaming service for their own games.
Remember when streaming was the cheaper alternative to cable because you could just pay for one service and watch what you want? Now every studio has its own streaming service and it’s upwards of $70-$100 a month to get them all. This is my fear for gaming.
And I think this is why they’re all trying to get live services going. Because if they’re making millions on a continued service, they don’t have to pump out new content.
Started playing this with my son because it allows full on multiplayer (unlike Elden Ring). But stopped after a bit because it’s just not my cup of tea. Great for all those who want this though.
@Zeroo so you think a game has to be 9/10 or 10/10 to be a must play? I’ve played a ton of games and I don’t think a single one is a 10/10. Many have been 9/10. But some 7s and 8s are more fun and engaging games.
@DarianStarfrog it’s not about lacking patience really. I’m a guy who loves Skyrim, Dragon’s Dogma, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and The Witcher III. Believe me, the patience I’ve had to endure waiting for those sequels is masterwork!
I liked Black Desert a little bit and was looking forward to see if they can make the necessary improvements. But with all the delays on this and the number of games releasing that are right up my alley, I’m kinda losing interest in this. I’m sure I’ll check it out when it comes. But I’m no longer anticipating it.
Diablo IV is good. But the live service aspect killed it for me. Just doesn’t feel right. I completed the story then stopped playing. Already Molag Bal’s deep into ESO so another “MMO” would’ve been too much.
@DarianStarfrog @ilyn choices matter in Dragon Age: The Veilguard! My first playthrough, I made all the right choices and got the happiest ending where things worked out for the team. Second playthrough, I intentionally made the opposite choices of my first playthrough and everyone died in the end, including my character!
@naruball another Dragon Age: The Veilguard champion! Love it! If it weren’t for EA being EA it would’ve been more successful. They gave up far too quickly on the game!
And I understand how you feel about the characters. The story can move on a couple of ways and in none of the scenarios does everyone show up in the next game. I liked Neve, Harding, and Davrin the most. I also like Taash but I think they went a little too cliche with the character.
@FinneasGH Doubly agree on Dragon Age: The Veilguard! Played it through twice! First, for the happy ending with my goodie 2 shoes character. Then the bad ending with my guy who’s as much of an a-hole as the game allows. Thinking about giving it another go ‘round. Were it not for certain elements that get people upset, it would’ve been received as well commercially as it was critically.
Platinum’d Flintlock and finally on to Ghost of Tsushima! Also, Elder Scrolls Online, naturally. I’ll quit this game one day. But not today… nor tomorrow!
Every time I see “Midnight Murder Club” I gasp with excitement. Then I’m brought back down to reality realizing that this is not the return of my favorite racing sim. 😢
Oh, man! I wish my older brother was still alive to play this one with me. The memories of waking up at 4 AM on a school day just to play Gradius and Tecmo Super Bowl!
Finally got around to playing a good amount of Ghost of Tsushima a few days ago. So far it’s as expected. Great game! Really looking forward to this one!

@rjejr not defending Sony. But making a successful live service game is not equal to day 1 releases on Game Pass. Not even close!
