Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a 78/100 on Metacritic. And it’s the best “PS5 only” game I’ve played this generation. Not everything has to be a 9/10 or 10/10 (which doesn’t exist) to be a banger!

Which one of them will get the next FIFA Peace Prize? Or is that thing also a nonexistent fantasy in this fantasy game? 😝

@MrPeanutbutterz never said Virtua Fighter 5. The first Virtua Fighter is a terrible game! But so is the first Street Fighter. But both are better than Tekken.

@RoomWithaMoose you spend your time worrying about how entertainment companies spend their money? Do you own stock? I care about the games they make. That behind the scene ish is none of my concern. If they’re not using child labor or doing some nefarious stuff then… 🤷🏾‍♂️

@Whyarewestillhere yes. It’s a fighter that actually has a story. I hate how the button sequences aren’t fluid like SF’s. But MK is still eons better than Tekken. Even Virtua Fighter is better than Tekken.

@nessisonett studios that have done next to nothing are closing and people are clutching the pearls. I honestly don't get it.

Tekken's been mid (I'm over 40 so I don't know if saying this is "cringe") for some time now. If it's not SF or MK then it's not an acceptable fighting game.

Been playing a ton of beat'em ups lately. Went from Double Dragon: Gaiden, to Absolum, and now playing Marvel: Cosmic Invasion. All those are great. This game looks like total crap!

Studio that did nothing closes. Um...

DOGE for gaming seems to be working.

@DartLOD how are you still carrying a torch for AC Shadows? I'm sure there've been so many more games you can level hatred toward since that one's released.

I dunno. It's wild when people pop up on threads about games they truly hate just to hate on it. Is there nothing our right now that you like that you can put your energy toward?

I waited over a decade for this game and still haven’t played it lol. I’m gonna get into it though. Especially after the PSSR 2 update. Just have to prepare myself to get lost in another world like ESO had me.

@Frmknst wild to see someone ask for “realism” in a story about a mutant man with regenerative powers and razor sharp claws that protrude from his skin at will. Also, Logan wasn’t realistic seeing as how Wolvy was 6’2”. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Thoroughly looking forward to playing this and Ghost of Yōtei. But I’m steadfastly holding to my resolution of not paying more than $30 for a video game. I’ll admit, it’s been as hard as abstaining from, well, y’know…

@RoomWithaMoose I’ve not played it. FPS isn’t my thing. But the same people who hop on these threads and are overtly critical of these games make it clear that they don’t play these games. Sure it’s not everyone. But how many do you think have actually put enough time in to make an informed decision?

I feel like the people who hate this game haven’t given enough time to it to truly form an opinion. They just know it’s a GaaS so they come in hot.

I mean, Twitter is “X” now and most of us still call it Twitter. HBO Max changed to “Max” then back to HBO Max. Anywah, I’ll still be calling this thing “PSN”. And if it’s just a branding change then it’s no big deal.

I remember my days as a Nintendo fanboy and news like this would genuinely piss me off lol. Crazy how PS2 changed the landscape for me. Viva!

Still haven’t seen 3. Which I’m disappointed in myself about lol.

It’s crazy that a game rated average 8/10 is some sort of no-go for gamers. It lends to the failing of the industry. If something isn’t a masterpiece it’s no longer considered good. Like, this is no Mind’s Eye and people are treating it as such. The entire reaction is so weird to me. And I feel like I’ve had to type that far too often in recent times in regards to gaming.

@get2sammyb you think it changes the art style? I think it sharpens the image. For instance, the image on the left that’s shown in the article looks like how I see someone without my glasses. The image on the right looks like how I see someone with my glasses on. Just my opinion, anyway.

I don’t think it looks terrible. It looks like AI. And AI has always looked like a video game. What’s the problem? I think this is exactly what this AI technology should be used for.

I’ve been using mine a lot more recently. My only real gripe now is that PS4 games can’t be streamed. But streaming PS5 games is a charm. Sitting at the dentist a few weeks ago and it was a great little distraction.

Time to give the beauty that is Dragon Age: The Veilguard another go. Let’s see if it got more beautiful-er… 🤷🏾‍♂️

@Almost_Ghostly your reading comprehension is way off if headline confuses you. “The studio behind PS5’s massive Crimson Desert” is not the same as “The PS5 studio behind the massive Crimson Desert”. Some gamers just come with complaining built in nowadays.

Going for 2nd Absolum platinum. Beauty of buying digital gets you the game on PS4 and PS5.

@djlard I agree. Everything needs to be like this. We need open borders, no brand exclusives, and like, everything Netflix makes needs to be available on every other streaming platform.

It’s totally unfair that a company can make its own stuff and not have to share it with everyone else! I just read that Ford is coming up with some new fuel system to add gas mileage to their vehicles. Exclusive to only Fords! It’s criminal!

I’ve never played a game I’ve hated. Or even gone on a hate crusade. I just drop it (Elden Ring) and move on to something I like. Gamers are weird, man!

@Fluberuper lol I also love Spiders. And liked Technomancer. I think their first game that pulled me into their games is Bound By Flame. 13 years ago, that one.

Edit: As I googled Bound By Flame I realized it was also a 6/10 or 7/10 rated game. Knowing this, I might just give Greedfall 2 shot.

@Fiendish-Beaver steaming to Portal makes Premium worth it. Like, it’s been great playing Absolum at home, the continuing on the road. But that’s really the only advantage.

@Divergent95 moved into my top 10 for sure. Aside from the limited enemy variation and lack of true fast travel, I can’t think of any other flaws. Great characters, character design, and some of the best voice work I’ve ever heard in a game.

@LogicStrikesAgain I honestly don’t get why so many seem to complain about what’s out there. This, to me, has been the best generation of gaming. There’s no genre of games that doesn’t have top notch titles to play.

I’d probably back it if it weren’t God of War. Just doesn’t fit in with that world.

The last 5 games I’ve played are smaller games. Double Dragon: Gaiden, SCARS Above, Absolum, TMNT: Splintered W, and TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. Better small games are out there.

Absolum! What a game! Can’t believe I’ve waited so long to get it! Almost done since I’ve been off work the last 2 days. Would call it the best roguelike I’ve ever played.

@DualWielding Bluepoint has already had the funeral. Now, other people have to go back to work. Including the folks who worked for Bluepoint who now work elsewhere. Bluepoint closure is manufactured outrage.

Looks good. Except for the enemies just standing there while you fight one. Maybe set to easy?

Wait? Doesn’t a PC already play PC and Xbox games? This thing is already redundant.

@themightyant you’re correct about this. And it’s a complaint that many have about the game. Almost feels like the devs didn’t intend to do it, but it was a launch game and they weren’t finished with some combat points.

@Propaperpusher game is hard for no reason lol. But not hard to the point of frustration like Souls games.
