@Th3solution Yeah, man. I'm discovering new games every time I finish one. And some great indy titles to boot. I've always not cared for the hoopla surrounding indys but there are some gems out there.
I've never been one to fan out over any particular studio. I like games from all the Sony studios, but if they're not releasing anything I don't care. They're not the only ones who make great PS games. Like, I happened upon Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden just because I was looking for something similar to Echoes of The End. Banishers is now one of my top 10 games all time. So yeah, there are so many great games out there that go unplayed because everyone is waiting for the heavy hitters to drop something.
In truth, the PS+ library alone can hold you over. For 2026, I've made the resolution to not buy any game more than $30. I luckily found Astro Bot online for that price. Game is so good that my wife plays it with me. I don't think she's played a video game in 25 years lol.
If you’re an RPG fan like I am, how can you not absolutely love this generation?! Every week there’s a new RPG being released. And not just turn-based stuff. Every iteration of RPG! You gotta love it!
@AdamNovice what you said about asking gamers what they want reminds me of when a friend of mine worked for a local radio station. Of course you know radio plays the same music daily. So, when people were complaining about this, the station started playing different music each day. They were flooded with complaints that they weren’t playing what they usually played. And that sums up everything!
I really don’t understand how people need Sony to make games for them to feel good about their PlayStation console. I honestly don’t care about a dev/publisher. None of that should matter to a gamer! If the game is good then who cares who made it? It’s like going to a Chinese restaurant and getting some really good Chinese food but can’t enjoy it because the chef is a white guy from Arkansas.
Honestly, this generation releases good/great games every month. The thing is so many gamers look to a games budget to determine its worth. AAA or AA comes up so often it’s ridiculous! Why do we, the consumer, care so much about the board room decisions? I’ve played 10 games recently, most of which are 7/10 rated, and I’ve had so much fun.
Make all fight scenes turn-based. Make the show as boring and monotonous as the game!
Also. You folks who hate TLOU show. You think too highly of yourselves. Just because you make the most noise doesn’t mean you outnumber those who like the show lol. The rest of us just enjoy it and don’t spend our time online trying to convince others to agree with us.
@JDINCINERATOR nostalgia is the killer of progress and creativity. People latch on to the past and always think things were better back then. Little do we know that it’s because it’s likely we lead simpler lives and had fewer worries.
Anyway, PS2 had many things that benefited it and lead it to be the commercial success that it is. But it’s not better than PS5. And if you list off why you think it’s better. I best most those things will reflect that it’s pure nostalgia.
@Divergent95 why’s there nothing in between? There’s a whole of in between. The spectrum between Expedition 33 and Cyberpunk is as vast as the Grand Canyon.
I think this’ll be more in the middle than anything else. We can’t expect another Expedition 33 so soon. And this game doesn’t bring the level of expectation that Cyberpunk brought.
Wait? So this isn’t a game where we’ll have to create a character? Interesting. I believe non-created characters can add to a more fleshed out story. We’ll see…
Friends and I started playing Division 2 again last night. We were all disappointed at no native PS5 version after all these years. A thousand updates and no one thought to upgrade the game to native PS5? Lazy AF in that regard!
@Scottyy yes. Looks just like her lol. That’s why I’m saying it would be a good pick. Like, they could’ve gone with the same Odin actor as well. He’s done enough live acting to repair the role. But Inigo Montoya is cool too.
@kailun yep. But COD and FIFA are very different games. They’re also franchises. What you say makes no sense as a rebuttal to what I said.Like, I can name 40+ western games released in the last 5 years that are very different. All those Chinese games can stand as sequels to the one before it.
@MichaelNau I plan on getting Absolum and Marvel. Wish the Double Dragon game followed the old school formula because those were my favorite beat’em ups.
Also, I’ve platinum’d The Witcher 3 five times lol. I hope when the rumored DLC drops that I’m able to do so one more time lol.
@MichaelNau the only thing I hate about Streets of Rage 4 is that there's no PS5 version. I usually platinum the PS4 and PS5 versions of these games because they're so fun to play. I did so with TMNT: Splintered Fate and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. Checked back on Streets of Rage but there's no PS5 version to replay. Anyway, I was gonna pick up Absolum when it was $19.99 but I skipped it. Sucks, because now I'll be paying full price.
One of my favorite series in gaming! I hope they do something to bring me back to part I. Part II is one of my favorite gaming experiences with friends.
🤔 Dotemu you say? Just platinum’d Shredder’s Revenge twice because it was so fun. Looking into Absolum and Cosmic Invasion next. I hate Scott Pilgrim but I do love a good beat’em up so I might get this.
I rate game reviewers the same way everyone else does. If they reviewer agrees with me, they’re an awesome reviewer! If they don’t agree with me, then they’re a terrible reviewer. Isn’t that how it works?
@Ichiban ND releases are like when Hulk Hogan used to only fight on pay-per-view. The main eventers are rarely seen but always worth the price if admission.
The Fable series mirrors Saints Row in his the first game is the only good one. I played Fable on a non-gaming PC with the worst specs available at the time (on a typewriter, I think) and loved it. Then I tried the subsequent games on Xbox and they were terrible. Anyway, looking forward to this one as it looks right up my alley from what I’ve seen so far.
@KonstantTrouble you, sir… are full of 💩. The number of players who absolutely love the 2 games you’re trying to diminish vastly outnumber the ones who supposedly returned it to GameStop. Even those that group is quite vocal, they’re not as important as they think themselves to be.
@RagnarLothbrok absolutely! They’re one dev I see and want to immediately check it out. But, I still need to finish the first Greedfall game.
Edit: and as an avid action/adventure gamer, I must say. This GEN has truly captivated me! I know so many find this generation to be a failure. But I absolutely love it! There’s a new action/adventure/action RPG at every turn!

Kidding.
Hopefully some new stuff will be announced. Intergalactic update would also be nice.

Re: Rumour: Starfield PS5 Release Date Is Set for 7th April
I once looked forward to this game. But then I realized I’m not into space games that much. I’ll more likely leave this one that take it.

Dropping Stars is the biggest disappointment for me this gen. That, and still no Dark Cloud 3.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 618
@Westernwolf4 Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is top notch! I discovered it about 3 months ago and it became one of my all time favorite games. Enjoy!
Re: God of War TV Casting Continues with Mimir, Brok, and Sindri Actors
@Atxjeremy not sure. But the originals do feel a lot more “video-gamey” than the subsequent series. Could be one reason.

Re: Promising Chinese God of War Game Will Be 'Optimised for PS5 in Collaboration with Sony'
@SoulsBourne128 yeah. I feel like they all can pose as sequels to each other. Or maybe in the same universe.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 618
Just bought Astro Bot on a discount website. Can’t wait to play it! I’ve been waiting on this one for a while!

Turn-based. NOPE! Not for me!

Is it me, or are all these Chinese games samey AF?
Re: God of War TV Show Recruits Its Thor and Odin Actors
@DennisReynolds lol I’ve seen it. But I’m saying Thor gets his father killed by Kratos so he would say the like. Sorry, man. I spoiled the joke.
Re: God of War TV Show Recruits Its Thor and Odin Actors
@DennisReynolds But, shouldn’t Thor be saying the line? I’m so confused now lol.

Re: Skyrim-Like RPG Tainted Grail Proves a Huge Success
I tried it. But the 3rd person mode was too janky for me to enjoy it. Hadn’t heard a thing about it so wasn’t sure how successful it had been.
