Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

twitchtvpat

@Bez87 people keep saying this but when they say "remake the back cat" they never mention any games , i'm guessing people would mention infamous , killzone or reistance , but it has to make sense in the first place to work on these games , when most of them weren't exactly big sellers on the ps3. i'm sorry but reading your whole post is just a lot of assuming with very little to no facts , i just don't think bluepoint is as good as to what you've built up in your head about them. and clearly sony saw the progress or lack of in the studio.

we finally get answers that go on to more questions though , why would from software block it? i'm guessing they didn't give the okay on the demon souls remake , but since sony owned it they did it anyways , and from software's back lash is to deny a bloodborne remake? also it sounds like they were at a stand still the studio wasn't big enough to fully complete its own original game , and it would have cost too much to vs disbanding the studio and spreading the staff out to other sony first party studios , a side story game in the ghost universe would have been cool though. hopefully at the end of the day things work out and having bp talent in the other studios will help those studios with their current projects. or even rebrand some bluepoint staff with ready at dawn staff and make a new studio.

@IOI i feel like you need to re-read what i wrote i didn't say they replaced them , but imo , sony sees them as a replacement as a port dev. also you must have missed the part where they have said several times they plan on keeping a lot of the staff from them. you are letting your personal feelings cloud your judgement on this one , a lot of ppl liked bluepoint , but lets be honest a major studio? all they did was remakes , they never created a single original game ever. i was honestly more upset when ready at dawn was closed after meta bought them and did nothing with them personally.

@IOI except those are their studios that pretty much hold sony studios together, its obvious they re-evaluated bluepoint , and to make it successful they had to put more money and expand the studio , which in their eyes didn't much sense with all the concerns were the industry is going with increasing prices. if they retain a bunch of the talent from the studio and use them in their other studios i think it will be a better idea long term. at this point nixxes replaced them in terms of remaster/ remakes / pc ports , maybe they'll essentially be combining bluepoint and them.

@jFug the problem is when people say a gold mine of ip's , they'll bring up resistance ( didn't sell on ps3 ) , killzone (didn't sell their ps4 didn't sell either) , infamous ( another low seller even though the ps4 game did decent? maybe?). i'd say the ps5 era is the most difficult not only did they have a pandemic which caused a large stock shortage , but now we are coming up on another major shortage due to difficulty in getting parts , luckily sony stock piled ram , or we'd be facing shortages bad now, at least we have a few years to worry about that. being able to throw money at these games they need to make money or they aren't going to be made , and studios need to get re-evaluated in how they operate.

Re: PlayStation Visited Kojima Productions Lately, But What For?

@somnambulance i'll take that perfect world statement and take it like 100 times beyond that knowing this is 99.99% not the case , but what if sony did the impossible and were able to talk konami into letting them make a metal gear solid game ( which they are out sourcing most of their games as it is ) , and Physint is actually a metal gear solid game.

Re: PlayStation Visited Kojima Productions Lately, But What For?

@AhmadSumadi give it a few weeks ppl will forget , not to mention Nixxes pretty much filled in for what bluepoint did and worked on the ps5 versions of last of us 1+2 , and horizon zero dawn , which all 3 look amazing on the ps5 pro. not to mention sony has already said they are looking at the staff from bluepoint and plan on keeping a lot of them to work at their other studios. so realistically this could end up better.

Re: 'The Plan's the Plan Until It's Not the Plan': Xbox All Over the Place on Future PS5 Ports

honestly once they she sees the sales numbers for fable , halo , and forza 6 on the ps5 , i doubt she'll want to take that away , realistically i can see them going back on well there is a 3 month or a little bit longer delay instead of day 1 releases , or early releases on game pass. or the ultimate pipe dream that will never happen since both run amd the ultimate hybrid console that will never happen would be a playstation 6 that can run every game that the series x can run including 360 bc games that is supported on series x ( yes i know this will never happen).

Re: Opinion: Sony's Disgraceful Bluepoint Closure Should Concern Every PS Studios Fan

@D6rkLordS6t6n i mean its pretty clear you are letting your personal feelings cloud your judgement on this one, the tech industry has a high turn over rate , studios get closed down , people get laid off , they are going to be last studio to cut back and shut down. i like bluepoint as much as you , i wish they got another shot , but its clear sony evaluated the studio and it made more sense to close it then to dump money in it.

Re: Opinion: Sony's Disgraceful Bluepoint Closure Should Concern Every PS Studios Fan

@D6rkLordS6t6n the irony is they are actually looking out for their employees now more then ever , the reason why they were able to crank out games like crazy was because they forced their workers into forced over time , working 60-80 hour days , now they no longer do that but obviously games are going to take longer to make. i think you miss the point though , as you just focus on the " wealthy businessmen" but a video game has to make money for the studio shuts down and people are out of a job.
