@KoopaTheGamer I mean parents clearly over paid for ps5’s from scalpers upwards of 1,000 dollars just to get their kids a ps5. So I don’t think that would stop them.
@Droopy i would take all of that with a grain of salt , until sony officially says anything about the ps6 , i wouldn't take it more then opinion pieces.
@Gabrielmpf if that was the case why didn't they raise the price months ago ? didn't you notice every piece of tech with ram has gone up in price? sony had bought ram before the price hike which helped the prices stay down for a while , but they are clearly running low , so either they stop making consoles or the price goes up.
@Gabrielmpf please explain your theory to the class , what does a monopoly have to do with the rising cost of parts? and sony has been able to keep costs down till now but the base ps5 is same exact cost of a xbox series x now.
@knight_spg i feel like they'll gloss over what we say , and ignore it and still not understand , the fact that sony has been able to hold off this long is a plus , but once that stock ran out , the new ones had to be increased to off set those costs.
@Fritz167 i'm guessing however many they made they are still selling and prob won't make any more , i'm guessing if they did go back to produce more it would go up in price.
@Bamila i have bad news , but everything in tech is going to be increasing in price , in fact the ps5 was the last console to increase in price as the base ps5 will cost the same as a xbox series x again. you do understand that the hardware prices are going up for everything right?
@user0 when prices would decrease that would be in part that the parts inside where cheaper to buy , but in this case the parts are more expensive. its either the price of the consoles go up or they stop making consoles
@TrollOfWar i love the ps3 , i still play it , but people acting like the ps3 was great while calling the ps5 the worst console is kind of crazy , when the ps3 almost killed the sony console since it was difficult to develop games for.
@Chosen-Libra honestly i was kind of considering upgrading my pc which is a 3060 with 32gb of ram , which is still pretty decent in 2026 , but after playing my pro with the updates honestly i'd rather just stick with playing on the pro then upgrading just yet , maybe i'll change my mind in the future.
@Foxhound its always been expensive lol , which is why video games have always been considered as a luxury hobby. if you count for inflation gaming hasn't gone up that much , n64 games back then were 70-80$ a game , which would translate to 145-160$ a game in 2026
@PuppetMaster i feel like they are safe , as they are releasing high quality games , and the keyword is they are releasing them , while certain studios have put years into their projects with nothing to show for it.
@Nicekix the article says that dark outlaw games weren’t working on a live service game though , twisted metal would have been cool but I’m pretty sure it was never an offical game , I’m gusssing that the Spider-Man thing was from the leaks because that was never an actual thing as cool as it would have been. But you do ignore the fact that Sonys more popular live service game would actually be gt7? I was excited for last of us though so that’s one I can agree on. I can imagine the marvel fighting game being successful though.
@Nicekix what makes those games promising when no one saw them? sony clearly saw the progress or lack of progress of certain games , along with the quality.
i mean honestly if it was as good as they think it was it would have been made , sony clearly saw the product and thought " no one will buy this " and benched it.
@LogicStrikesAgain honestly i think thats what intergalatic is , and when they see the game play i think a lot of people will say this , both games involve space and bounty hunting. i wouldn't be surprised if you'll see jax and daxter refreneces / easter eggs in the game
@EbolaGW its obvious you are trolling from the xbox comment ( in which i also have a series x btw). so i'm not going to feed into this , maybe you'll find some one that will , cheers.
@MrHabushi maybe 1 person is using it for that way lol , but no ones using it to save energy , its ment to make a game run better on a portable console.
@EbolaGW i couldn't disagree with you more , it feels like the majority of people actually do as well with the ps5 being one of their more successful consoles , there feels to be a lot of hype behind the pssr tech , with big games coming up this year, i feel like gta 6 is going to be a huge seller for the console , along with their program that has been helping out studios to create their games , we still have phantom blade zero coming as well.
@SuntannedDuck2 i hate to tell you this but the turn over rate for tech industry is really high , which is why a lot of behind the scenes workers bounce around to many different studios. its clear the studio wasn't progressing , why keep investing in a project that is doomed to fail?
This might not be a popular opinion clearly , but i think Hulst has done a pretty good job with ps5 seeing how its been one of the most difficult era's in video games. They navigated around releasing a console during a pandemic while having to deal with stock issues , to the increasing cost of parts , which they've been able to get past for the most part with out having to increase the console's price as much as say ms had to raise the cost of xbox. the irony is i'm pretty sure this studio was created to make live service games and from reading the comments a lot of people who dislike live service games are complaining about the shut down , am i wrong?
@Mes_Urson clearly they looked at the lack of progress the studio was making and how it was turning out and didn't want to invest any more time or money into something that would have been a failure imo.
@Dog_Biscuits i get the hate for re6 but its still one of the better selling resident evil games. i liked certain aspects and parts of the game and the fact that it was the first game that brought leon and chris in the same story , and was a return to zombies in leons part, if i had to remake it though i'd make it all into one game that would swap back and forth between characters and you progress the story like re9 , ditch the qte events as well.
@Smackosynthesis the problem is there is no winning either you announce the game a few months later its out , or you announce it earlier and its years away , but at least you know its coming , but both situations make people complain " where are the games " and " why do we have to wait so long for the game to come out".
people keep bringing up the remake of re3 forgetting that re3 was always one of the shorter games in the series. i'm glad they remade it , but games were much shorter back then compared to now , i'm just glad it wasn't forgotten about. i keep hearing that the code veronica remake should be their best one yet though , so i'm pretty excited to see how it will turn out , its crazy to think of it being 30 years though , but i recall seeing the first game in action , and it was just crazy to see how advanced it was compared to other games in its day. excited for the future , sounds like we are getting code veronica , zero , and 1? being remade along with re:X
@Mythologue it will be little things like fps , tracing , those little details that can make a game feel alive , having more interaction and more stuff going on in the game around you
@Rich33 I agree this is only the start of pssr so the more time goes on it will keep getting updates and improving. imo using ai as a tool instead of a crutch can greatly help video games like this. Makes me even more excited for the ps6 more then the idea of building a new pc.
@Anti-Matter i can't see why it won't have a disc drive , and honestly i want it to be attachable , if your disc drive breaks and you can replace it getting a new one set or just buying a new one thats so much easier then sending the whole console out ( which i've had to do that before )
@get2sammyb thanks i looked into it some more and it sounds promising , i can't wait to see how pssr is going to evolve over time sony is lucky they have some one like Mark.
@get2sammyb isn't pssr pretty much their own version of it ? i'm just a lil confused i thought pssr and fsr are built on the same foundation , unless pssr is going to expand into more of the fsr side of things for fps?
@Exerion76 you have to remember this isn't for current consoles and for ps6 , i would like to think that by then it would be more advanced then it is currently. i mean pssr is a good example of that.
@Accipitridae if the current path is anything to go by it sounds like if they update it every 6 months the next update would bring it near or around the release date of gta 6 , its going to be fun watching it evolve and seeing the improvements each time.
@Number09 sony isn't leaving the base ps5 to "rot" its still a fine machine depending what you have for a tv , if you tv is just a 4k tv with out vrr or 120htz screen , then you wouldn't be able to get much use from the pro. but the baseline ps5 doesn't have the hardware to use improvements like pssr because it doesn't have the hardware in its gpu to run an upscaler and the game at the same time.
@Accipitridae i don't think you understand , it being out is what improves it , because its a learning piece of tech. so its going to keep getting updated more and more as time goes along. theres no way for it to be advanced with out it being released.
@Accipitridae pssr is evolving and growing , think of it as a learning program that evolves over time , so its just going to keep changing and improving over time, when mark first talked about he mentioned 6 months which is the new update and 6 months later which takes us around September / October.
