@Rich33 I agree this is only the start of pssr so the more time goes on it will keep getting updates and improving. imo using ai as a tool instead of a crutch can greatly help video games like this. Makes me even more excited for the ps6 more then the idea of building a new pc.
@Anti-Matter i can't see why it won't have a disc drive , and honestly i want it to be attachable , if your disc drive breaks and you can replace it getting a new one set or just buying a new one thats so much easier then sending the whole console out ( which i've had to do that before )
@get2sammyb thanks i looked into it some more and it sounds promising , i can't wait to see how pssr is going to evolve over time sony is lucky they have some one like Mark.
@get2sammyb isn't pssr pretty much their own version of it ? i'm just a lil confused i thought pssr and fsr are built on the same foundation , unless pssr is going to expand into more of the fsr side of things for fps?
@Exerion76 you have to remember this isn't for current consoles and for ps6 , i would like to think that by then it would be more advanced then it is currently. i mean pssr is a good example of that.
@Accipitridae if the current path is anything to go by it sounds like if they update it every 6 months the next update would bring it near or around the release date of gta 6 , its going to be fun watching it evolve and seeing the improvements each time.
@Number09 sony isn't leaving the base ps5 to "rot" its still a fine machine depending what you have for a tv , if you tv is just a 4k tv with out vrr or 120htz screen , then you wouldn't be able to get much use from the pro. but the baseline ps5 doesn't have the hardware to use improvements like pssr because it doesn't have the hardware in its gpu to run an upscaler and the game at the same time.
@Accipitridae i don't think you understand , it being out is what improves it , because its a learning piece of tech. so its going to keep getting updated more and more as time goes along. theres no way for it to be advanced with out it being released.
@Accipitridae pssr is evolving and growing , think of it as a learning program that evolves over time , so its just going to keep changing and improving over time, when mark first talked about he mentioned 6 months which is the new update and 6 months later which takes us around September / October.
if the rumblings sound right mark said there would be 6 months between updates for pssr , meaning the next update would bring it around the date of gta 6 , pssr 2.5 or 3.0 whatever it will be around the same time as gta 6 could be interesting.
@carlos82 i'm sure you are in for some good news , taken with a grain of salt it sounds like re1 remake has been in production for 2-3 years currently , along with the rumored code veronica remake due out next year , and re:0 has been worked on for 3-4, plenty of resident evil to come over the next couple of years.
@Contimaloris i noticed that too , so i just ended up buying the digital version which works out better for me since i have two ps5's a pro and base in different rooms. i feel like it will be this way now unless you preorder games , which i noticed a lot of games aren't available to preorder like they use to, when you could preorder months ahead of time.
@zekepliskin i get it , i still have a playstation 3d tv /monitor hooked up to my ps3 , i still play it time to time, but i feel like a lot of people look back at the ps3 and remember it better then they did when it was actually out , in all reality the ps3 software had very low / poor sale attachments compared to number of ps3's sold , not to mention a lot of the 3rd party ps3 games ran much worse compared to the 360 , to the point where the ps3 was sony's biggest failure , luckily the first party teams picked it up enough for a decent enough push in the back half of the consoles life to make the sales numbers look almost decent.
@Areyouthatdumb i feel like the biggest thing with a base ps5 vs a ps5 pro , is you also need the right tv to make it worth having a pro imo, if you have a 4k 60htz tv with out vrr then the ps5 base model works perfect for that tv as you won't be able to use the ps5 pro's best features with that tv, if you have a 4k tv that supports vrr , 120htz , having the pro imo would be worth it. the ps5 base model is still a very good console though, i put mine in my bedroom and still use it.
@Americansamurai1 once they changed the way you paid for games they didn't have a reason to close it if people are still buying from it, you have to add money from a ps4/ps5 or on a pc , that was the reason why they were shutting it down because it used a outdated way to take payments.
@Balaam_ i think its time to get over the bluepoint thing , either that or you are trolling about it , but spending this much energy on something thats in the past isn't worth it, also i always do the trophies sorted by earned date i think it looks better that way personally.
@Areyouthatdumb the PlayStation 5 Pro can run PSSR / PSSR 2.0 because it has hardware designed for machine-learning upscaling, while the PlayStation 5 does not. The base PS5 simply lacks the dedicated hardware needed to run that technology efficiently.
@Balaam_ idk if you got another response but im pretty sure pssr 2.0 improves every game , certain games can patch upgrades beyond what it naturally does though
i feel like they are making games depending on what sells , but at the same time then why is it on the xbox if that's the case? then again final fantasy made a tweet out with lighting refueling the rumors for a ff13 remaster , so if that happens all will be forgiven.
i've never been so confused about a game in my life , i mean it could be amazing , it could be awful , but it looks amazing , but does it play amazing? i mean from what i've seen it looks crazy but crazy in a good way , like a mix of final fantasy meets witcher except its not witcher
@Vladspartan its not propaganda for anything lol, df was sent a ps5 pro with the game on it to test , and they showed off what they saw. i think you are taking this too deep, or you are just trolling.
it sounds like they'll be releasing another video with the base ps5 and xbox consoles with in the next few days though. i feel like they would have done a deep dive with the pro first either way. honestly though i still think it will look and play really well on the base ps5 , just with out as much reflections.
hopefully they do add an expansion , the first one dlc was great, i just bought the horizon fw dlc on sale , so i gotta do that at some point, if they added one to this game it would give me a reason to go back.
its awesome to see not only resident evil thrive in 2026 but silent hill as well. i'm waiting on pssr 2.0 to see how it fixes up the issues ( not that i ever really cared about the issues in the first place) , but i'm excited for them to show off the remake of part 1. hopefully if all goes well , they've already started on remaking part 3.
at this point i'd imagine by the time the ps6 comes out that rt won't even be an issue with performance , and this wouldn't even be a question , but to the next level of would the ps6 be able to do path tracing or do we have to wait for the ps6 pro for that.
I feel like they made the game too good , it wasn't super optimized for consoles at the time, but the game still holds up many years later in 2026 as with the 60fps and 4k res looks amazing. a better lighting system , maybe better particle effects would have been perfect, but going back that far into a older game trying to fix those things would have been too much. but in terms of how the game looked they were way ahead of their time , including how good they made the indoor parts of the buildings as well. not to mention its free running was the best in the entire series.
don't get me wrong , people keep bringing up rt bringing down performance but im pretty sure this article isn't about the baseline ps5, but more like the ps5 pro which can handle both rt and performance , and the ps6 that we don't even know much about yet , but i'm sure can handle rt and performance better then the ps5 pro. this already exists in higher end gaming rigs , but the fact we are getting closer and closer to higher game end gaming rigs in console form is crazy to me.
@Ristar24 fair enough i feel like if you saw or had a pro i think your mind would change , i'll give a pretty good example of a brand new game crimson desert the highest quality mode on base line ps5 has high ray tracing but drops to 30 fps with upscaled 4k, vs the ps5 pro's lowest mode preformance has those same settings with 60fps , with the pro's quality mode at true 4k 30fps with ultra ray tracing while balance on the pro has a slightly better res (1440p) upscaled to 4k with 48fps.
@Ristar24 so you have a base line ps5 ( nothing wrong with that) so i can see why it wouldn't matter to you , when rt looks nice but also dims performance vs the ps5 pro that has both.
@AdamNovice 1,000% this , like i said in my post , pssr 2.0 is a game changer in re9, the lighting , the reflections , this makes me want to test out every game when it fully releases. and pssr is still evolving and improving over time , so its only going to get better from here.
why pick one when you can have both , that's what pssr 2.0 is for. playing re9 with it turned on vs playing it on a base line ps5 i'll take ray tracing every day. also if you can't tell the difference you won't really notice much unless you have a ps5 pro and a tv that is good enough to handle it meaning you need a tv with vrr support , 120 htz , ect to even notice it , if you don't have those things you won't notice a difference.
@Nexozi having tried out those games on the ps4 vs the ps5 and ps5 pro , i will say the ps5 versions blow out the ps4 out of the water , since the base ps4 only supports up to 1080p vs 4k on the ps5.

@HerlockSholmes if re9 is a sign of things to come , i can't wait to see how every game is going to look and play running on this , almost to the point i don't want to play anything else till this releases lol.
