Horizon PS5

Anyone hoping to play the third instalment in the main Horizon series will have to wait for the rumoured online title from Guerrilla Games itself to release first.

This is a second game that's separate from the newly confirmed Horizon Steel Frontiers for PC and smartphones. Both it and a second multiplayer Horizon project from Guerrilla Games shall release before the developer gets back to Aloy's story, and the third full entry in the Horizon franchise.

That's according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who posted the following on social media: "Just to clear up some confusion I've seen, the newly announced NCSoft Horizon MMO is different from the multiplayer Horizon game that's in development at Guerrilla Games. That one is Guerrilla's next big project."

This multiplayer title being made in-house at Guerrilla Games has been public knowledge for some time now, with fans assuming it'll play something like Monster Hunter. Rumours dating back as far as 2022 suggest a new stylised visual look and a fresh cast of characters, with talent recruited from Rainbow Six: Siege working on it.

The team said this morning it's working on "more ways for you to" experience the Horizon universe, and this online title will be one of them. "More on that to come," Guerrilla Games closed with on social media today.

Another way will indeed be a single player Horizon 3, but with two multiplayer projects to come first combined with some rumours of a 2027 launch for the PS6, we could be looking at a next-gen entry for the next part of Aloy's tale.
