Of all the systems enjoying a contemporary console renaissance, we wouldn’t have put money on the SEGA CD.
But the “hits” just keep coming – this time FMV boxing game Prize Fighter, which first launched in 1993.
Once again, dev Screaming Villains is handling the port, with Limited Run Games on deck to offer a physical version. It’s due out in 2026.
For those not familiar with the original, it promises “classic boxing action in TruVideo with realistic, instantaneous control”.
The video clips were actually directed by Ron Stein, who also worked on the Rocky movies, believe it or not.

There are four main opponents, and you beat them in FMV bouts which work a little bit like Punch Out.
Much like with Slam City, this is technically one of the better FMV games from the SEGA CD era – but that’s not really saying much.
It should prove an interesting novelty to revisit on the PS5, though.

The only FMV Mega-CD everyone wants is Sewer Shark! “Pretend it’s a game!”
Sooner or later they’re going to bring one back that pushes the nostalgia button for me. I played quite a bit of Time Gal, Microcosm, and Silpheed back in the day and would happily revisit them.
@Amnesiac Road Avenger!
Ive just bought a mega drive, and its bloody amazing, currently playing micro machines turbo tournament 2 i used to be good on it but so bad now 🤣🤣. Got a few games arrived so going retro this weekend and try and keep off ebay as ive got 10 games already 🤣🤣. Also just got hitman 25th anniversary edition for ps5 got this as i want to try the vr on it as it looks great in vr.
I think I would rather have that Space Adventure Cobra game on Sega CD than this. Is nice that more Sega CD games get more recognition these days I guess.
@Vermines I would LOVE a Batman Legacy Collection with the 8 and 16 bit Batman and Returns games, along with Return of the Joker and the Animated Series titles.
I sure would love another one of these. It's already been delisted from PS4/Switch.
@get2sammyb : seconded ! Road Avenger is one of my favourite games of all time !
This was awesome ! I watched the video in its entirety
Willy Beamish, Sonic CD, snatcher, WWF, NHL were some of my most played Sega CD games. But Third World War was hands down my most played game. I would buy that and the others for nostalgia alone. I think Sonic CD is the only one available from those
Some company can get these very old-obscure games but no one wants to port / remaster Galerians & Galerians: Ash or Koudelka / Shadow Hearts / Shadow Hearts: Covenant to current platforms. sigh...
I wish Dreamcast's Seaman got a revival too.
If LRG want to put earlier Megadrive CD era games on modern gens could they at least pick decent to good ones?!🙄
Can think of the Misadventures of Flink (also had an Amiga CD32 port),& the same team went onto the Adventures of Lomax on PS1 also a fun platform action romp.
Core Design also did a few Mega CD games like Soulstar & Thunderhawk, along with others that had their origins on Amiga at the time like the Heimdall series, Jaguar racing, Chuck Rock & Bubba & Stix to name some...all fairly obscure & forgotten today but likely to have more playability than some of their latest announcements.😕
sewer shark next please
I loved my Sega CD, but those loading screens were excruciating long
I wouldn't mind seeing Dark Wizard brought to PS5...
If any “FMV game” needs reviving it’s the CD-i version of Burn:Cycle!
About time we had Silpheed remastered.
I love that Sega is doubling down very openly on making their historic catalogs available to modern gamers.
@PegasusActual93 - it’s nostalgia. Yeah, these games are awful, but experiencing them again or even for the first time can take you back to that carefree wonder of that era.
@Deadhunter I would love this myself!!
Come on snatcher or road avenger
@PegasusActual93 - Because there is obviously a demand for them. Hell, even I bought a couple of the old Sega CD re-releases for Switch. Why don’t these old FMV games deserve to be rediscovered? They’re a part of gaming history, also nobody is forcing you or anyone to purchase them.
@PegasusActual93 - Honestly, I don’t understand the frustration. There is a lot of great content out there and lot of great games that get remastered frequently.
Fair. But how close till more Saturn or Dreamcast games? 32X even?
Game Gear again?
Still cool to see Sega CD titles get a chance besides the Genesis Classic 2 or very few other times.
That aside. I've like to get some of these. Seeing the same IPs over and over, or classic collections, they got their time, time to offer ones that never do or haven't in a while. I want to get Sega CD/32 for sure. Not the amount of times a Sonic game or any other common Genesis games I'm sick of seeing supported, they get enough support and those people get them.
Let the ones that want more then that get support. Recycling the same ones, sure those people will but once they run out they need to offer the others people that WILL go for these Sega CD and others want to support but can't because the popular ones get recycled all the time instead due to that audience not caring at all and they get their support all the time.
The others with great ideas get left behind by popularity demand of others that already have used their ideas or reappeared over and over. Give me the ones with other great ideas just not as well marketed or timing. They had something to them. Popularity should not dictate re-releases because audiences are narrow minded and only eat up popularity/their childhood.
I have no experience with any of these and am excited to experience them. From researching, or surprise and just seeing what's what.
Enjoyed plenty of left behind shooters, platformers and racing games with way better ideas then the safe popular generic ones with more familiar and dumb easy to understand appeal then more interesting ideas. Anything too strange and people ignore it anyway, always happens. I want to play the weird stuff or left behind greats.
Wow! Prize Fighter was my second favorite FMV game to Night Trap on Sega CD! Had a lot of fun with this one so this will be a day one. This is when I can appreciate Limited Run! Road Avenger & Time Gal next please!
