If you've ever seen or played games like Jump King, Baby Steps, or Getting Over It, Cygames' new vertical adventure Where the Seeds Fall may prove to be something of a salve.
This particular brand of intentionally difficult, rage-inducing platformers typically task you with climbing up tricky terrain and harsh environments, with one poorly-judged jump sending you falling back down where you came from.
In Where the Seeds Fall, you're not heading up, you're heading down, and while there's still a sense of peril as you leap from platform to platform, it seems to be a calmer experience overall.

The game casts you as a soldier residing in the branches of the World Tree, high above the blighted surface of the planet. You come across a young kid branded as a Fell Child — a bad omen expelled from society — and go against your orders, choosing to escort them down to terra firma.
The adventure lasts around three hours, according to the reveal trailer, and during that time you'll jump to lower platforms and ledges in your mission to reach the surface.
Some jumps will be too high to make safely, which is where seeds come into play. You can throw down a seed and it'll sprout a small area that'll cushion your landing, allowing you to take some big leaps of faith.
After finishing the main story, Where the Seeds Fall will provide you with additional levels and challenges to beat, such as time trials.
It looks like a pleasant game with some fun ideas — I think it'll be worth checking out, especially if it only takes a few hours.
Where the Seeds Fall launches on PS5 on 5th November, 2026, so it's not far off either. Are you interested in this one? Tell us in the comments section below.

Seem pretty novel to me, looks really fun. Falling great heights in games effects me in a similar way to going down a large dip on a real life rollercoaster does, the whole lurching of the stomach. This should be fun!
I always gravitate towards these types of games with a single-minded design concept and approach. I also like areas in games where you have to strategically fall down vertical shafts, like those found in many soulslikes.
It remains to be seen how generous it'll be with checkpoints, but whether it's lenient or unforgiving I'll check it out.
It looks like someone played Souls game where you have to carefully fall down on planks and decided to make a whole game out of it.
'Each leap and each fall is used to evoke a sense of danger and fear' - It worked, I felt a little bit of that watching the trailer. It gave me flashbacks of jumping down wells in Fromsoft games, or anything involved in jumping in a Fromsoft game. It's a great concept too, the lore especially.
Imagine this in VR 🤢
I keep reading the title as “Where Seeds Fall”, probably b/c of so many 3 word game titles lately. And the the does kind of seem unnecessary after doing it a few times.
@McSavage That was my second thought, a game built for VR. Weeeeee!!
Looks like an interesting idea.
@McSavage Oh geez, I'm somehow immune to proper motion sickness in VR, I've spend hundreds of hours using it, but I think I'd faceplant into something playing this in VR. It'd be exhilarating though!
I thought this was novel game concept and I look forward to finding out more.
I don't think this will be a full price title, but if its priced right I'll be there
vertical rage + dad simulator + quirky Japanese story = day 1 buy for me.
It looks pretty fun, I'm curious.
I like the simple but interesting idea of heading down the terrain. And it's only 3 hours long too which is a good fit for me who's tired with a lot of games these days that got unnecessary bloated and overstay their welcome.
@Dalamar I was thinking the same thing. Like the small wooden platforms in Demon's Souls before Flamelurker and the giant hole in Majula in Dark Souls 2.
